Wolves are a fascinating species. When it comes to sustaining dominance, wolves tend to display an act of submission or 'giving in' to the dominant wolf. On the other hand, the dominant wolf, known as the alpha male, demonstrates his power by getting each and every pack member's attention.
The U.S. U-17 MNT spent its morning at Estadio Corregidora watching the final match of the group
stage - a game that was suspended last night between Australia and Denmark.
Denmark needed a win to advance to the Round of 16, and it looked like they had one locked up, but
an 89th minute strike from Rochester Sorenson tied the game and sent the Aussies to the knock out
round.
In the group stage, that is. Tonight's Group F match between Australia and Denmark was suspended
due to heavy rains and lightning.
That means that there are still some teams waiting for their Round of 16 opponents. The match will
be replayed in its entirety tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., and only then will Uzbekistan and France
learn their first knock-out round opponents.
Lionel Messi, seen here with the 2010 award, has won FIFA's Ballon d'Or for 2012
The 2012 FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony has been held in Zurich with the undoubted star of the show once again being FC Barcelona and Argentina sensation Lionel Messi. He has picked up FIFA's top award for individual footballers for the third consecutive year since FIFA's World Player of the year and France Football's Ballon d'Or awards merged in 2010, and his fourth overall.
Australia beat Iraq, Iran edged South Korea, Uzbekistan won at Qatar, and Oman beat Jordan in AFC World Cup Qualifying on October 16, 2012.
Qatar 0-1 Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan's Sanjar Tursunov scored the match winner in the 13th minute to give his side the three points. It's the first win of this round of qualifying for Uzbekistan as they are two points behind South Korea and Iran.
Tokyo, the host for the semifinals, third-place match and championship game (as well as two
group games and two quarterfinals) of the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, is also one of thre
finalists to for the 2020 Olympic Games along with Madrid, Spain and Istanbul, Turkey.
If the excellent organization of this tournament, which was staged on short notice after the
competition was moved by FIFA from Uzbekistan, and the great fans, are any indication, Tokyo would
host a fantastic Olympic Games.
Below are the tables for AFC 2014 World Cup Qualifying through June 12, 2012. The top two from

By Andrew Villegas If Mexico's U-17 World Cup win this week has shown us anything, it's that the
gap between U.S. Soccer and FMF development has widened into a gulf. In that tournament, the U.S.
lost to Uzbekistan in the group stage after beating the Czech Republic, tying New Zealand and ended
taking 4 points [.
-Ben McCormick After a promising start, the US U-17 National Team is in a tough spot. The Americans
opened the 2011 U-17 World Cup with a satisfying 3-0 win against the Czech Republic before it was
wiped out by an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Uzbekistan. On June 25, the Americans squared off against
New Zealand, needing a win to clinch the group earning themselves a date with Australia, a
manageable task in pursuit of returning to the quarterfinals for the first time since.
While the rest of the USMNT fan base was busy mourning the recent loss to Mexico in the Gold Cup
final, the U-17 team was celebrating its progression in the Round of 16 at the U-17 World Cup in
Mexico.
A scoreless draw against New Zealand was enough to see the United States finish Group D in
second place behind Uzbekistan.
Group A - Jordan, Syria, Oman, Singapore Group B - Iran, Lebanon, Kuwait, Thailand Group C - Iraq, China, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia Group D - Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Malaysia Group E - Uzbekistan, UAE, Hong Kong, Vietnam
Looks like there won't be any South East Asian nation going to Australia in 2015 with the possible exception of Vietnam and they have no easy ride.

In the last five years Rivaldo has embarked on something of a world tour, and his last four clubs
were in Brazil, Greece, Uzbekistan and Angola. He joined Angolan club Kabuscorp earlier this year,
but his advancing years (the man is now 40!) have meant that he only appears on an irregular basis,
taking to [.
Another month has come and gone and so it's time for another WCR Monthly International RPI
Rankings. With all of the matches in September, I was expecting a lot of movement. I guess there
was quite a bit but nothing as significant as I had expected. The most movement occurred with clubs
in UEFA.

The Round of 16 kicked off today across Mexico, and this afternoon's games were the talk of the
U.S. team at the hotel. Japan quickly confirmed their place in the discussion of tournament
favorites with a 6-0 demolition of New Zealand. They will face Brazil - 2-1 winners on top of
Ecuador - in the quarterfinals on July 3.
Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi has earned the respect of Bolton fans and manager Owen Colye
since heading there on loan from Arsenal on the last day of the January transfer window. Miyaichi
capped off an excellent February by being named Bolton's player of the month by the club's fans. He
was also called up to the Japanese national team for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier, but
unfortunately didn't get off the bench in a 1-0 loss to Uzbekistan.
When 'super duper set-piece' penalties go wrong, you tend to end up looking like a bit of a
massive great sopping tit as Uzbekistan U23 striker Aleksandr Geynrikh found out to his cost
during a friendly game against Zenit St Petersburg last night.
Penalty FAIL As Thierry Henry and Robert Pires can testify, you really do have to be as good as
Johan Cruyff to do this penalty routine because when it goes wrong, it goes very wrong. Uzbekistan
U23 striker Aleksandr Geynrikh is the latest player to fall foul of attempting to follow in
Cruyff's footsteps.
Well, good luck making any sense of Group D. The US beat the Czech Republic 3-0, New Zealand
beat Uzbekistan 4-1, then Uzbekistan beat the US 2-1, and the Czech Republic beat New Zealand 1-0.
Huh? What that means is all teams in Group D are on 3 points, and the US is tied for first with New
Zealand, with 4 goals scored and 2 goals allowed each.

While Indonesia Under 23s defeated Mitra Kukar 5-1 in their latest friendly, holders Malaysia were

Malaysia started the campaign poorly, losing 3-1 against the Uzbeks. Next up was Myanmar and they
won 2-1 with a late winner from Baddrol Bakthiar.
The U.S. (and New Zealand) packed up everything and traveled together today from Torreon to Pachuca
via Mexico City. If you've ever wondered how more than 100 pieces of luggage and 35 people move
from city to city in the middle of a tournament, here's a quick look at what a travel day looks
like:
With the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup now in the history books, the first FIFA Women's World
Rankings since the completion of the tournament are out. Despite Japan's penalty kick triumph over
the USA in the Final, there were no moves in the top five, with finalists the USA continuing to
lead the pack, followed by Germany, Brazil, Japan and Sweden.
It was an interesting night for the U.S. U-17 MNT, which played to a scoreless draw against New
Zealand this evening in Pachuca. The tie meant that both teams were both on four pointsn and
deadlocked in every tiebreaker category, which meant .... a drawing of lots!
