NAC Breda's Anthony Lurling put a little bit too much on a shot while warming up before his side's Eredivisie match against Utrecht and hit a fan in the back of the head. The ball sailed over the crossbar, curling hard and fast into the back of a man's head as he made his way up the stairs in the stand behind the goal.
Utrecht had a pretty dismal old weekend over in the Eredivisie, losing 6-0 to AZ Alkmaar and finishing the game with just nine men on the field.
In fact, Utrecht were already down to nine men on the half-an-hour mark with AZ's Yank striker Jozy Altidore scoring the two resulting penalties on his way to completing a first-half hat-trick within the space of seven minutes.
Another year and another transfer window. Throughout the month of January clubs all over Europe frantically try to conduct business, and whilst some gain significant firepower, others lose crucial cogs in their machine. It's a brutal month for managers and fans alike, but there is a certain type of club that it usually spells doom for: The selling club.

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen the club's attacking options for the
upcoming season and is believed to have earmarked young Belgian winger Dries Mertens for this
purpose.
The Belgian international moved from Utrecht to PSV Eindhoven last summer and stunned fans by
adjusting quickly to life at the Philips Stadion.
Liverpool could miss out on one of their summer targets after it was suggested that PSV-Eindhoven
winger Dries Mertens prefers a move to Germany.
According to a report in The Sun, Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the winger on a number of
occasions this season as manager Kenny Dalglish looks to add balance to his squad.
Manchester United and Liverpool target Ricky van Wolfswinkel is a wanted man – with Lazio ready
to make a £13million bid for the Sporting Lisbon star this month.
United and Liverpool are keen on the striker but were expected to wait until the summer to make
bids.
But they could yet be forced into action this month as Lazio are ready to enter the race to sign
the highly-rated Dutchman.
Striker Andy Carroll was the fall-guy for Liverpool after missing a first-half sitter in the
goalless draw at home to Swansea.
For the second successive home match against a newly-promoted team Kenny Dalglish's side failed to
convert their chances.
Carroll's was the miss everyone will remember, although there were enough opportunities created
afterwards to have prevented a third home draw in a row.

The CSKA Moscow talent has won a major battle to get fit for inclusion in the squad. Born in
1990, he will be one of the youngest players in the tournament but Dick Advocaat knows the
importance of his linking skills behind either Pavel Pogrebnyak or Roman Pavlyuchenko.
New Dutch sensation Kevin Strootman is due to become the next big thing in Football, and according
to today's TalkSport, the 22-year-old midfielder has attracted the interest of the Arsenal boss
Arsene Wenger. The PSV star has managed to make his breakthrough to the senior Netherlands national
team last year causing City's Nigel De Jong [.

Fulham 'keeper Mark Schwarzer buries his head in the sand
Unquestionably one of the surprise stars of the season so far, Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm
was once again in superb form on Saturday against a talented Fulham side.
Belgian midfielder Sven Kums (fnarf fnarf!) opened the scoring for Heerenveen in their 4-1 away
win over Utrecht by cannoning one in from the edge of the area with his mutton truncheon...
Heerenveen star Sven Kums gave the statisticians something to worry about in his side's match
against Utrecht. The 'left leg', 'right leg' and 'header' columns were all left blank as Kums fired
in from 17 yards with his penis. The gang at 101GG inform us that in Holland this is called a
"snikkelgoal".
Utrecht's Mike van der Hoorn somehow managed to chip the ball into the side netting during a clearance. His reaction was fairly subdued, of course, because when you're 3-0 down, what does another matter? Mike also has a discussion with the referee. Presumably he was attempting to bribe him to have it attributed to someone else.
Earlier this morning, we reported that other sources had said FC Utrecht midfilder Gianluca
Nijholt was currently on trial with the Chicago Fire.
After reaching out to Nijholt's agent Bart Baving, we received this response (it has been
cleaned up slightly as it doesn't appear English is Baving's first language, but the full context
remains):
"Spoke with Frank Klopas yesterday; Frank was very positive and wants to have him with the
team.
There are three Sneijder brothers. Daddy did well. The oldest one, Jeffrey, started to play at
DOS in Utrecht, like the younger two. But despite being talented, Jeff didn't want to invest his
whole life. With Wes and Rod it's different. As we know.
Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond moved closer to a playoff spot with a nervy win against Telstar
while Jozy Altidore and AZ were on the wrong end of a drubbing at the hands of Utrecht.
