The Phoenix New Times has an in-depth look at some events in Arizona a few years ago that
highlight some of the problems inherent to youth soccer and how youth soccer has changed recently.
A successful coach at Sereno Soccer Club named Les Armstrong was suspended from coaching after he
forged a parent's signature to drop a player from his roster before the State Cup
championships.
Minnesota had two teams that made it through the US Youth Soccer Region II Midwest Regionals and
qualify for the Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona. Both the boys U-16 Minnesota Thunder Elite Academy
and the girls U-19 Woodbury Inferno competed in that tournament last week but neither team
qualified for the final.

Tab Ramos is one of the great players in US Soccer history, and has taken his talents to coaching
youth soccer. His NJSA 04 Gunners won the USYSA Under-14 national championship, marking the first
national championship for a New Jersey club team in two decades.
Mike Woitalla of Soccer America caught up with Ramos, and discussed the best way to handle parents
in youth soccer.
