Juergen Klinsmann came to the US National Team with some big ideas. He preached patience, saying he
was going to need time to experiment with several different kinds of lineups, formations and
tactics. If given time, he justified, he would find the right combination of players to play an
attacking style of soccer that was uniquely American.
-Ben McCormick For many reasons, there are not many Liverpool fans that will take kindly to being
dubbed, "The New Fulham." That, however, is exactly the title they are setting themselves up for by
going on something of an American shopping spree. A few weeks ago, Brent Laham reported US U-17
captain Marc Pelosi had received an offer from Liverpool to join their academy ranks.
-Ben McCormick A year ago, the United States won the 2010 Milk Cup in convincing fashion with a 3-0
victory over hosts Northern Ireland. On July 25, the Americans will begin their title defense when
the U-18 national team takes on Israel before playing Mexico on July 27. The knockout rounds will
start on July 29.
-Ben McCormick Let's fix American soccer. Right here, right now. By the end of this post, you will
know exactly how the USMNT will get to where it should be: firmly above Mexico, challenging the
world powers consistently. It's a long post, but I swear, by the end you'll know exactly how to fix
it.

-Ben McCormick After a promising start, the US U-17 National Team is in a tough spot. The Americans
opened the 2011 U-17 World Cup with a satisfying 3-0 win against the Czech Republic before it was
wiped out by an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Uzbekistan. On June 25, the Americans squared off against
New Zealand, needing a win to clinch the group earning themselves a date with Australia, a
manageable task in pursuit of returning to the quarterfinals for the first time since.

-Ben McCormick The US U-17 national team plays its first match of the 2011 U-17 World Cup tomorrow
against the Czech Republic. The US has qualified for every edition of the tournament since it began
in 1985. Despite their sterling qualification record, the Americans have only reached the
semi-finals once in 1999, with a squad featuring players like Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley.
- Ben McCormick Last month during the US U-20 trip to France, American fans were treated to
something of a blast from the past. American winger Josh Gattowned the left wing, constantly
running at defenders, making French Ligue 1 prospects look like traffic cones. I rubbed my eyes to
be sure it wasn't Landon Donovan circa 2002.
- Ben McCormick Without a new head coach, the US U-20 National Team kicked off its next cycle with
a pair of friendlies against France. A 3-3 draw on May 17 and a 2-1 loss on May 19 saw the US start
the new cycle in a positive fashion. The 3-3 draw featured the talents of Molde FK winger Josh
Gatt, who was held back by his club when called up for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
