Former Drury standout Cody Reinberg is featured in the Patriot News
When Cody Reinberg arrived at preseason training camp in mid-March, he was no different than any
of the other first-year players the Harrisburg City Islanders have thoroughly checked out during
their tremendously efficient six-year run in the USL Second Division.

Les Rosbifs 05 August @ 01:30 AM EST
Some good news concerning Les Rosbif friend Lloyd Butler. Having been released by Geylang United in
Singapore, the former non-league striker has turned up playing for the Prime League (reserve) side
of crack team Singapore Armed Forces FC. It could represent a great move for young Butler, who, if
he impresses, looks a good bet [.

The following players have been known to have played abroad during the past 12 months, but have
since disappeared. There are also players I am looking for some further information on, in an
effort to track their careers and ensure whether or not they should be on Les Rosbifs. I would be
extremely grateful for [.

The final sweep of Les Rosbifs has led to as few more players leaving the list, the most notable of
whom is Tommy Mooney. The former Watford, Aston Villa, Scarborough, Southend United, Birmingham
City and Walsall (to name many) striker has decided to hang up his boots after an extensive career
spanning the English leagues.

It is summer in the US. What does it mean? It means Tournament Time! (Or Schedule Congestion Time,
for you glass-half-empty types.) CONCACAF Champions League starts soon and SuperLiga is underway.
And my favorite US tournament, the 95-year-old Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, heads into Round 3 this
week.

The Harrisburg City Islanders sit top of the USL 2 two consecutive victories, including two against
close rivals at the top of the league. A 3-0 win over Charlotte Eagles saw David Schofield come on
as a substitute with 17 minutes left, but he had little to do. This was followed by an impressive
3-2 [.

chronicles the June 25, second-round encounter between the Western Mass Pioneers and Richmond

Maria Burns Ortiz opens her article on Brad Friedel's soccer academy in suburban Cleveland like
this:
"Brad Friedel's Premier Soccer Academy is the kind of program that makes a soccer parent do a
double take. The kind of program that is followed up quickly with a 'What's the catch?' The kind of
program that Americans have a hard time comprehending, even though clubs like his are relatively
commonplace in other parts of the world.

I believe that the most interesting thing that happened in the last round of sub-MLS Open Cup play
was that the Seattle Sounders knocked out actor Anthony LaPaglia's USASA team, Hollywood United,
6-0. When last we checked in on the US's most-ignored tournament, the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, MLS
teams were playing for the two [.

Our long-running series on player development in the USA continues with the unlikely story of Jorge
Flores. He is the 18-year-old Mexican-American who won Univision's "American Idol"-like
tryout "Sueño MLS."
As The New York Times writes, Flores "was the most valuable player for his team at Anaheim
High and played for a club team in nearby Santa Ana.

Watching France labor to a goalless draw against Romania yesterday got me thinking about the debate on player development in the USA. Why?
Franck Ribery, that's why. As recently as the 2003/04 season, he was playing in the French third division and working as a construction worker, and he left Turkish club Galatasaray in 2005 after having gone four months without a paycheck.

Saturday, August 18, 2007Charlotte Eagles @ Richmond Kickers – 7:00 pm ETThe Kickers have become a USL-2 powerhouse mainly due to the quality injection of talent often
produced by their PDL squad the Richmond Kickers Future. The Eagles - the New England Revolution of
the USL-2 - look to make it 2 out of 4 as their last Championship win came in 2005 sandwiched
between 2 losses in the final - 2004 and 2006.
