Today was the 2nd preseason game of the year for Vancouver and guess what: "20'- old friend Atiba
Harris gets first caution for hard tackle on sideline against Bengelloun".
Clint Dempsey has been voted the Futbol de Primera USA national-team player of the year for the
second time - the last time being way back in 2006.He got 375 points and 99 first place votes .The
also rans were Tim Howard - second with 252 points and Landycakes - third with 191 points.
Dempsey scored four goals in 12 games in the U.
Busy weekend in Major League Soccer as the playoff picture is starting to crystallize with just
about a month of the season remaining. Before we get into our weekly attendance review, here are
a couple of other items of business note from the last couple of days. We'll start in Vancouver,
where the Whitecaps wrapped up their Empire Field portion of the home schedule.
As many of you know by now, this past weekend was scheduled by FIFA as an international weekend
meaning that the club world took a break (for the most part) in order to facilitate some national
team games. The USA played twice against both Costa Rica and Belgium and lost both times. Such a
shame..
Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid believes it is great for American soccer that former USA
national team boss Bob Bradley is being considered for jobs abroad.
The 53-year olds five-year tenure in charge of the US team was recently ended when US Soccer
replaced him with Juergen Klinsmann but there has been no shortage of interest in his services with
the Egypt national team and some clubs in Mexico showing curiosity.
After beating Kazakhstan with a last-minute goal by Arda Turan last Friday , Turkish national
team face another hurdle on the way to secure the second place in the group A.
This time, they will be away in Vienna against Austria....
Turkey with 13 points on second place, six ahead of fourth-place Austria in the group A.
The Jurgen Klinsmann era as USA national team head coach is getting off to a tough start with a
draw and lose at home to two of their biggest CONCACAF rivals.
In Klinsmann's first game as coach, the United States tied Mexico 1-1 on Aug. 10 in Philadelphia
and last night at the Home Depot Center the US suffered an embarrassing loss at home to Costa
Rica.
STARTERS - BOB BRADLEY IS OUTBob Bradley was fired today as head coach of the USA national team. The federation has stated that
they will have another announcement tomorrow. Don't know if that will be about a new coach, or an
interim, or etc etc etc.
We here at du Nord are big fans of coach Bradley and want to thank him for all his hard work, and
wish him all the best in his next endeavor.

USA National Team defender Oguchi Onyewu is now a member of Sporting in Portugal's Primeira Liga,
signing a three season contract. Onyewu leaves Milan in Serie A after spending the second-half of
the 2010-11 season on loan to FC Twente in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was part of the squad for the
USA's recent Gold Cup run, but did not play.
There's nothing like a USA National Team loss to get the fingers on the keys.
Sure, there are parallels to the New England Revolution's loss last night, with both teams
frustratingly not turning it on until it was too late. However, the emotion surrounding the two,
for me at least, isn't the same.

After Saturday, you could see the temptation for Bob Bradley's players to call in sick. But
neither USA National Team players nor Shin Guardian Game-Reviewers have that option.
It seems generally accepted in the MLS community, if not the US Soccer community, that soccer
specific stadiums are key to the growth of soccer in the USA.
The reasons are many, and include everything from the emotionally-relevant display of faith in
the sport in this country, to the very practical ownership of parking and other associated revenue
streams.

of Turkey!
WHO IS MICHAEL BRADLEY....
Bradley was born in Princeton, New Jersey, son to Bob Bradley, then coach of the Princeton
University soccer team and current head coach of the United States men's national soccer team.

The tea leaves are telling us that Oguchi Onyewu is about to re-join his old coach Standard Liege
boss, Michel Preud'homme at Twente in the Netherlands. The two were together at Standard in
Belgium. We shall see if this shakes out?
