The United States Under-23 men's national team is going to get a proper tune-up for CONCACAF
Olympic qualifying, as it will square off against Mexico's Under-23 side in a friendly at FC Dallas
Stadium in Frisco, Texas, on Feb. 29.
The match will be a culmination of a 10-day training camp in Frisco.
The U.S. Under-23 men's national team has just over a month left before Olympic qualifying takes
place, and Caleb Porter's side wrapped up its penultimate camp last week in Costa Rica with a pair
of friendlies.
Playing without some of its top players, the Americans played to a scoreless draw with the
Saprissa reserves.
The U.S. Under-23 men's national team finished off its January training camp with a victory,
topping Alajuelense 1-0 in a friendly in Costa Rica.
Tony Taylor scored the lone goal, taking a pass from the Columbus Crew's Dilly Duka at the top
of the box and finishing in the 41st minute.

importance in the U.S. Soccer community.
Williams was named U.S. Under-17 national team coach on Tuesday, a position that also entails
overseeing the federation's residency program in Bradenton, Fla.

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Sebastian Lletget hasn't had the easiest of times since signing with West Ham
United on his 18th birthday, but things are starting to look up for the U.S. Under-23 men's

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Terrence Boyd should have been sent off on Thursday.
After delivering a clumsy and dangerous challenge on Zarek Valentin in the second half of the
U.S. Under-23 men's national team's intrasquad scrimmage, Boyd was given a second yellow card.

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. -- Most of the players called into the U.S. Under-23 men's national team
camp that ply their trade in a league other than MLS have yet to break into their team's
rotation.
That's not the case for Joe Corona.
At 21, Corona is a regular in Club Tijuana's gameday rosters.

BRADENTON, Fla. -- The U.S. Under-23 men's national team wrapped up its December camp with a
second intra-squad scrimmage on Thursday afternoon, and the competition for roster spots set the
tone for a physical and fiery match.
Split up into white and blue teams, the 29 players in camp (Bill Hamid left camp earlier in the
week due to family reasons) took part in a windy match at IMG Soccer Academy that saw its share of
physical play and rough challenges.

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - Prior to November, the last time Jared Jeffrey suited up for a U.S. youth
national team was in 2009, and much has changed for him since then.
Since representing the United States at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup three summers ago, Jeffrey
has switched clubs, learned a new language and overcome the nagging hip injury that put him on the
shelf for much of last season.
Caleb Porter's first camp in charge of the U.S. Under-23 national team is well underway in the
Sarasota/Bradenton area of Florida, as some of the most talented young players in American soccer
do their best to try and impress the coach assigned the task of helping the United States qualify
for the 2012 Olympics.

When Caleb Porter released his initial roster for the upcoming U.S. Under-23 training camp in
Florida, a few omissions raised some eyebrows.
A couple of those players in question are now included, as Borussia Dortmund striker Terrence
Boyd and UCLA playmaker Kelyn Rowe were added to the camp, during which Porter will get a look at
30 players eligible for Olympic qualifying.
Caleb Porter has named a 28-man roster for his first camp in charge of the U.S. U-23 men's
national team, and there's talent aplenty.
Freddy Adu, Teal Bunbury, Mikkel Diskerud and Bill Hamid are just some of the more well-known
names in the eight-day camp that will be held in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

Plenty can change in terms of player development over the next number of years, but for the time
being, the United States Under-17 national team proved that there's much to be excited about when
it comes to the future of the U.S. program.
The Nike Friendlies conclude today with the marquee match we've been waiting for, the United
States taking on Brazil (5pm, Fox Soccer Channel).
We weren't originally going to post a live commentary on this game, in part because I've just
gone on vacation and nobody else is around, but with the United States up 3-1 at halftime and
putting on a show, I'm sure there are plenty of USA fans eager to talk about the next generation of
up and coming American stars.

While the U.S. senior national team was busy getting a result in Slovenia, the U.S. Under-23
side training in Germany played to a draw and lost in a pair of friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen
reserve and youth sides.
A few days after topping VfL Bochum's reserve team and drawing against Azerbaijan's U-21 side,
the U-23s jumped out to a lead on a team comprised of Leverkusen's reserves and U-23s but settled
for a 1-1 draw.
Vancouver Whitecaps striker Omar Salgado, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 MLS Draft, will
train with English club Fulham once the current U.S. Under-23 national team camp in Germany
finishes up this week, sources told SBI on Tuesday.
Salgado, a 6-foot-4 striker with deceptive speed and impressive technical ability, will be
training with the London club for the next two weeks.

as the U.
Liverpool has announced the signing of former U.S. Under-17 national team captain Marc Pelosi on
Tuesday, making Pelosi the second American to sign with the English powerhouse this year.
Pelosi has spent months with Liverpool, but his move to the club had been held up as he and
Liverpool awaited international clearance for the move.
Real Salt Lake's Luis Gil and Sporting Kansas City's Teal Bunbury saw their MLS seasons ended on
Sunday as their teams suffered conference final defeats, but neither will have much time to sulk
after being called into the U.S. Under-23 national team camp in Germany.
Gil and Bunbury bring the total number of players in the camp to 37 players.

With their MLS seasons over after losses in the conference semifinals on Thursday, a handful of
up-and-coming players in the U.S. Under-23 and Under-20 pools will get their chance to make their

Jurgen Klinsmann's stable of youth coaches continues to evolve.
Richie Williams was hired by U.S. Soccer as the coach of the Under-18 national team on Monday,

The Caleb Porter era is underway.
A day after being named head coach of the U.S. U-23 men's national team, Porter held a telephone
conference to discuss his new role, plans to qualify for the upcoming Olympics and what he wants to
achieve.
When the U.S. Under-15 boy's national team convened a camp at Home Depot Center on Sunday, there
was one familiar name among the group.
Jonathan Klinsmann. Yes, it's Jurgen's son.
The younger Klinsmann is a goalkeeper in the 36-player camp, a week-long event U.S.
There will be no repeat for the United States U-18s in Northern Ireland.
The United States tied arch-rival Mexico, 1-1, on Wednesday afternoon, but the result was unable
to help the young Americans qualify for the Milk Cup final. Jesús Ruiz opened the scoring for El
Tri in the 12th minute, slotting a corner kick past goalkeeper Cody Cropper.

Former U.S. Under-17 national team standout Andrew Oliver looks to be the latest young American
to catch the eye of English powerhouse Liverpool.
Sources have told SBI that Oliver has traveled to England to train with Liverpool with an eye
toward securing a contract.
The U.S. U-18 men's national team began its title defense of the Milk Cup in winning fashion,
beating Israel 2-0 on Monday.
