Right colour, wrong shirtIt's a Chile afternoon in Toronto! Great news for TFC
supporters and pun-lovers alike as The Reds officially announced the signing of Chilean
international defender Miguel Aceval today. The announcement concludes a signing-process that has
been rumoured since December but spent the last few days floating around MLS red-tape limbo.
Still being several weeks away from the start of a new season for association football in the
US, much of the current chatter surrounding Major League Soccer revolves around the announcement
of this summer's All-Star Game in Philadelphia and, well, oatmeal. Okay, perhaps not specifically
about oatmeal, but rather the unveiling of Quaker as the new shirt sponsor for Chicago Fire SC that
begins with this video of a morning bowl of Quaker Oats and has continued by sending these rather
special packages to not only sports media but also prominent US football bloggers to spread the
word.
High up on the list of things no to do with football fans is to promise the unveiling of a big
new signing and then fail to follow through. Worse is to promise a big signing and then come
through with someone who won't even find the end of the bench on the reserves. Like Bayern did this
afternoon, requesting their fans tune into an official press conference to unveil the signing,
which turned out to be the photo of the fan who'd logged in via facebook.

Many folks will be forgiven if they thought the new season of the S.League is going to kick-off a
year or so, instead of the official date given the league authority - 9th February 2012.
It's not a laughing matter and consider the fact the unveiling of the CEO of the League was only
done weeks ago and on the same occasion the media were only made know in larger content what are to
be expected in the much touted "S.

Just a few photos of the 'proudest moment' Chris Coleman's career; his official unveiling as the
new Wales manager at an FAW press conference at St David's Hotel in Cardiff a couple of hours
ago...
Said Coleman on taking the job:
"We're still all shocked by what happened [with Gary Speed] and we're still grieving and the
only way we can put smiles on fans' faces again is to continue to win matches but I don't think
we'll ever get over the loss of Gary.

Arsenal's lack of an alternative cutting edge to Robin van Persie was once again evident in
their 1-1 draw with Wolves at the Emirates on Tuesday. While the home side peppered the Wolves'
goal with shots in that game, they couldn't find a way past Wayne Hennessey.
The Arsenal legend, the top scorer in club history gets teary eyed at the unveiling of his
statue, part of the club's 125th anniversary. Arsene Wenger looks on like a strict father expecting
his favorite child to say the right thing.
I'm going to make this quick, because it's too late to garner much attention anyway.
Tomorrow we face Everton at the Emirates. I feel like I could just copy this preview from any
game they've played over the past few seasons: They're a pretty good team, but they are struggling
to score goals because they don't really have a good striker.
Hey everyone. Just to say that as part of the blog re-launch, Goonerboy is now on Twitter.

I should have a post up soon with a great pic from the statute unveiling today.
Titi is in London this weekend for the unveiling of his Arsenal commemorative statue. We can only
hope the sculptor wasn't obliged to replicate his shoes n'gilet combo. We'd prefer not to have to
look at that for the next 100 years. Image: PacificCoastNews.com.
In a week where the whole of Manchester was thrown out of Europe's elite competition, we
admirably restrained our 'inner mean girl' while you lot let rip on Shakira's new 'do and Yoann
Gourcuff reappeared on our radar, you may well ask what could possibly be left for us to report
on?
Arsenal have unveiled statues of Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry to mark the
club's 125th anniversary this weekend.
The official unveiling of the statues outside the Emirates Stadium as part of the club's
celebrations took place this afternoon.
Chapman, who led the club to their first league titles in 1931 and 1933, Adams, who captained
Arsenal to five league titles across three decades, and Henry, the club's record goalscorer with
226, were the men honoured.

So Friday rolls round again in a flash, apparently seven days after it last did. That doesn't
feel quite possible.
Olympiacos on Tuesday started badly and never really picked up, but if you haven't yet filed
that one away under ‘nothing to dwell too much on' then I shall politely recommend that you
do.
Join Kelly (from Timbers Insider and Mao (from Mao's Football Show) at Jeld-Wen Field for their
fifth episode of Soccer Made In Portland.
This was filmed live right before the third kit unveiling earlier this week.
PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers and adidas today unveiled the team's official third uniform
design for the 2012 season. The retro-inspired jersey is produced from 100 percent recycled
materials and was designed and manufactured in Portland. Timbers defender David Horst and
midfielder Darlington Nagbe revealed the new look during a special unveiling event [.
Busy few days in Major League Soccer as teams have been aggressively signing players, preparing
for the re-entry draft, unveiling jerseys and generally trying to remain relevant in the news
cycle. While I've never personally understood the excitement around the release of a new kit, the
oft criticized Revolution front office handled their unveiling rather well, usual social media to
spread the word.
The Revolution unveiled their new kits for the 2012-2013 seasons tonight at the Gillette Stadium
Pro Shop. The jerseys feature a deliberate lack of silver and a return to the inclusion of red as
well as the new addition of the flag of New England displayed prominently and proudly on the back
of the jerseys just under the collar.
Revolution fans can finally exhale.
In a surprise announcement made during the team's 2012-13 jersey unveiling at the Gillette
Stadium Pro Shop on Saturday, Revolution President Brian Bilello announced that the team had
re-signed midfielder Shalrie Joseph. According to a tweet from Boston Herald reporter Kyle
McCarthy, Joseph's new deal will classify the Grenadan center half as a Designated Player for the
2012 season.
We've long admired the busts of Herbet Chapman and Arsene Wenger at the club but now our
hierachy have decided that they will erect three statues of Arsenal icons at the Emirates.
A missive has arrived at Arsenalinsider HQ, thus:
The Chairman and Directors of Arsenal Football Club have the pleasure of inviting you to the
unveiling of statues to commemorate three legends in the history of Arsenal Football Club.

This looks a bit like the type of thing you'd see on the brown side of Hamburg, or perhaps an
unveiling from the artistic playgrounds of Berlin, but it's came to us via Dortmund. And there's
little to say it's brilliant.
Now all they need to do is combine the skull and crown and they'll take over the world.
The recent unveiling of the Elite Player Performance Plan has been met with a cacophony of
complaint from footballer bloggers. For Gary Andrews of Two Footed Tackle, it was not so much the
straw that broke the camel's back, more a case of the straw being repeatedly driven into said back
with a whopping great JCB -and as Jon Keen of The Tilehurst End pointed out, EPPP could allow
acquiring clubs
Stars CEO Djorn Buchholz was at the unveiling of the brand new NASL championship trophy on Friday

to have photos taken he refused, saying he'd wait until he could do that in Fort Lauderdale after

There's nothing wrong with a little bit of positive outlook when moving clubs, hoping to make
the most of one's experience, no matter the daunting task ahead.
It's also a properly good idea to know one's opponents. Diego, on a one-year loan to Atletico
Madrid, apparently does not.
"I am glad to join Atletico, I was really eager to play here because this is a great club and I
could not have arrived at a better moment," Diego said to reporters at his unveiling.
Arsene Wenger's massive defensive acquisition Per Mertesacker has quickly endeared himself to
the Gunners faithful by insisting that he has always been one of them while growing up in
Germany.
The former Werder Bremen skipper revealed that he was not sure if the opportunity would ever
arrive for him to play for Arsenal but having watched his boyhood club hammered 8-2 by champions
Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, the 26-year old is looking forward to helping the
team recover.
After sealing a move to the Barclays Premier League, new Arsenal left-back Andre Santos has
immediately rubbished reports that he departed Fenerbahce due to the team's involvement in a
match-fixing scandal.
The Turkish champions were forced to withdraw from the Champions League last week and not only
was their spot given to second-placed Trabzonspor, but there have been demands to relegate them to
the country's second division of club football.
Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has expressed excitement over his move to the Emirates Stadium
and like fellow summer signings Park Chu-Young and Andre Santos, he has described the transfer as a
dream come true.
The Germany international who quickly returned to the national team's training camp ahead of
their potentially decisive Euro 2012 qualifer against Austria was handed former skipper Cesc
Fabregas' famous No.
Manchester City new boy Samir Nasri has hit back at the media for misrepresenting his recent
comments about the lack of passion shown by the supporters at his former club Arsenal, but has
further emphasized his faith in joining the Eastlands outfit.
Speaking to the media ahead of his return to North London for the Citizens' tricky fixture
against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, Nasri told reporters that he only raised doubts over
the atmosphere at the Emirates and in addition to seeking a superior atmosphere at Etihad Stadium,
he is confident about lifting the Premier League trophy at the end of the season.

The idyllic village of Glaslough in County Monaghan, Ireland, was the perfect setting for the

Union
It's official: the Union announced on their website at 8am on Friday that Freddy Adu has signed
with the club on a free transfer from Benfica. As is always the case, "Per Major League Soccer and
club policy, the terms of the acquisition will not be disclosed."
Dave Zeitlin, writer for the Union, tweeted shortly after the announcement, "Freddy Adu is
signed, sealed and delivered.
