On September 22, 25 youth soccer players from United Soccer Club's THEARC site had the opportunity to participate in Dick's Sporting Goods 'Shop with a Player' event. Dick's Sporting Goods 'Shop with a Player' was held at the Bailey's Crossroads location where each USC athlete received a $100 gift card to spend at Dick's, dinner provided by Papa John's, and the opportunity to shop and spend time with D.

On Sunday, Acumen Solutions is putting on the Race for a Cause 8K in Arlington, VA. United for D.C. was invited as one of the beneficiaries for the race (there are 13 in all) who may receive a portion of the money raised - yes, I said MAY receive. In order for D.C. United's non-profit arm to receive a portion of the proceeds, we need 100 people to sign-up for the race and designate United for D.

Join United players, coaches and front office staff at the 6th Annual United Awards Reception taking place tomorrow night at the historic Atlas Performing Arts Center on H St. NE. In addition to finding out which players won Team MVP, Coaches' Award, Fan's Choice, Goal of the Year and others, you'll also find out which players spend the most time in front of the mirror, is the most unlikely to pick up a restaurant tab, is most likely to move back in with their parents and star in a reality show, among others.

Be sure to stop by Main Gate at RFK Stadium during United's final regular season home game versus the Columbus Crew on Saturday to bid on your favorite player's game-worn and autographed jersey. Bidding will be open when gates open until the end of halftime. Proceeds from the In-Sadium Jersey Auction benefit the team's non-profit arm, United for DC.

Tonight is the Fifth Annual United Awards Reception to benefit United for D.C. At the event, we'll annouce all of the team awards - MVP, Defender of The Year, Fans' Choice, Goal of the Year, Coaches Award, Humanitartian of the Year - and look back on the season that was. There are also going to be several hilarious videos (I shoule know, I've seen them already) that will provide entertainment throughout the evening (just like this one).

On Thursday, September 11, six members of D.C. United assisted 30 youth from United for D.C.'s United Soccer Club in the "Shop with a Player" experience at Dick's Sporting Goods. Marc Burch, Quavas Kirk, Bryan Namoff, Clyde Simms, Zack Wells and Mike Zaher accompanied a group of five kids on a $100 shopping spree throughout the sporting goods store in Bailey's Crossroads.

D.C. United players love to read. The shots above are from a recent photo shoot conducted at RFK Stadium for United Reads, one of the signature programs of United for D.C. - the club's non-profit arm. The photos are going to be used for posters, flyers and the like to encourage reading at D.

Devon McTavish is a busy fellow.

This afternoon (around 5 p.m.), he'll be on DC radio station Mix 107.3 taking part in a little promo called The Bachelor. Tomorrow, he and teammate Joe Vide will be guestbartending at Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Herndon, VA to benefit the club's non-profit arm, United for D.

Hilarity ensues when United players pick up golf clubs. Though the piece below is kind of funny, you should really think about joining us next year. It's a fantastic even and really one of the best opportunities to get up close and personal with United's players. Plus, it raises money for the club's non-profit arm - $55,000 this year!

This is a shot of Ben being Ben from last year's Celebrity Golf Tournament. The club and its non-profit arm, United for D.C., have put on the annual event for each of the past six years and will continue the golf tournament this summer at Old Hickory Golf Club in Woodbridge, VA. The big day is Monday, June 23, so take a vacation day or call in sick - just make sure you get there.
