They must fall. And so four games in, the Champions League contenders and pretenders have been
separated fallen into place for the group stage which, a few spots aside, could've been drawn up in
August by a blind chimp and his serf, a man who tans. Breaking down the likelies, unlikelies, and

Wednesday's Champions League match between Rangers and Unirea Urziceni ended with a 1-1 draw
after two late goals in Bucharest, but the real action was in the stands, where Rangers fans
clashed with CS gas wielding stewards. Says Rangers chief executive Martin Bain on the club's
official website:
"Obviously the behaviour of some of the fans inside the stadium was unacceptable and no-one
likes to see that
"However, what was equally unacceptable was the fact that Rangers came to this stadium with
representatives from UEFA and Unirea a number of weeks ago and arranged for the four turnstiles to
be open to give access to our supporters.

Sido Jombati extended his hand, and with a warm smile on his face said, 'My name is Sido.'
I couldn't help but laugh. I had just contacted him a few days ago to tell him what a big fan I
was, and to request an interview with him for this blog. I certainly knew who his name. I was to
learn, though, that Sido is as unassuming as he is friendly.

Rangers face a crunch Champions League night this week and one of their stars has stressed the

The Scots are currently bottom of Group G with only one point and enter a tie away in Romania
against Unirea Urziceni knowing that another defeat will put an end to their distant hopes of
qualifying for the next round, or even booking a place in the Europa League.

Remember that fabulous Parma team that lifted the UEFA Cup in 1999?
Led then by manager Alberto Malesani the team was made up of superb talent from the back to the
front. A young Gainluigi Buffon kept goal, protected by a back three of Lillian Thuram, Fabio
Cannavaro and Nestor Sensini.

DaMarcus Beasley was on the bench for Rangers' bizarre 4-1 Champions League loss at home against
Unirea Urziceni. The visitors gifted Rangers an own-goal in the second minute, and Rangers returned
the favor twice. With Unirea Urziceni already up a goal from Marius Bilasco in the 32nd-minute,
Kyle Lafferty put the ball in the back of his own net in the 49th and Lee McCulloch followed ten
minutes later.

Rangers vs Unirea Urziceni
The two bottom feeders of group G are set to face off on Tuesday although I think it is unlikely
either of them will go through to the next round. So, in essence, it is a fight for the Europa Cup
spot.
Rangers have been in absolutely horrendous form of late and need a win to boost their
confidence.

Matchday 3 sees some crucial matchups but none may be more important at this stage than the
Standard Liege Olympiacos fixture. Arsenal look to be a lock for top spot in Group H but second
place is wide open. A win today for Olympiacos would put them in the driver's seat.
If they lose at home today against Arsenal, last season's Eredivise champions AZ Alkmaar could
be done for.

With one (Red) exception, all major favorites won their games in the Champions League's second
round of group play. Then there was AC Milan, who have already struggled so much this season they
barely deserve to be favorites of anything. Case in point: FC Zurich came away 1-0 winners from
their visit to the San Siro today.

clubs were in action including Arsenal, Liverpool, and FC Barcelona. There were a few surprises as
Liverpool were shut out 0-2 at Fiorentina and Inter Milan could only manage a draw with Russian
side Rubin Kazan.

As Arsenal prepare for Matchday 2 of the Champions League Group Stage this evening, it is hard
to look at the changes made to this part of the tournament by Michel Platini, European football's
equivalent to the anti-christ, as being, in any way, beneficial to the competition.
Platini's motives are somewhat sound, even if his execution is not.
