JordanCornblog 26 October @ 06:59 AM EST

... it's gonna be the Yankees that the Phillies have to put in their place to take the World Series again. Be there, starting Wednesday night ... as two ex-Cleveland aces go up against each other in their new(er) uniforms. That's CC vs. Cliff Lee. Let's go, Phillies, you can do it!

And I love hearing that George Will has gone after Dick for his "dithering" comment noting that a little "dithering" by the Bushies might have been helpful before invading Iraq.

Did Platini see two red cards and one red faced referee ?

Soccerblog 26 October @ 04:38 AM EST

Kelly committed the foul.
Hangeland got the red card
Platini's wonderful system of having extra referees behind each goal post blew a major fuse in Roma's 1 -1 draw with Fulham a couple of days back.Stephen Kelly's foul on Riise occurred 10 yards from where the additional assistant referee, Johan Verbist, was stationed to one side of the Putney End goal.

High Street Strut: Frank Lampard v Robbie Savage

KICKETTE 28 September @ 09:49 AM EST

It's a fact of life: footballers, mobile phones and denim belong together. They're like champagne and strawberries. Vodka and soda. Martinis and olives. Baileys and breakfast.

Is it drinking time yet?

Sorry, what were we on about? Oh yes, footy players and their favourite uniforms.

Now that the football gods have decided to share their love with satellite broadcasting there is a glut of high-level football to be had from the safety of one's own home or favorite watering hole. The problem is that time zones, work hours, and weekend plans tend to interfere with one's ability to sit down and watch games.

Now You Can Enjoy The World Cup Without All That Extra Soccer

kenn.com 16 September @ 03:38 PM EST

Major League Soccer will not play league matches during the two-week group stage of next summer's World Cup in South Africa.

Okay, fine. If teams are going to be without star players, and if you believe (as I do) that MLS' product suffers by comparison when you watch high-level international play and then watch an MLS match, not a bad move.

An Interview with Uli Hesse-Lichtenberger

Bundesliga Talk 13 August @ 05:20 PM EST

It's funny that on the day I finished Rafael Honigstein's book, the great Uli-Hesse-Lichtenberger returned my questions for an interview that Rafael had helped facilitate. The last chapter of the book, which is very pensive and earnest, incorporates with how Germans deal with World War II.

Velez Sarsfield’s Hot Girl Mission To Fix South American Football

The Offside 13 August @ 04:00 PM EST
South America has had a very poor reputation in the footballing community of late, and for good reason. Flying knees and knife attacks are an easy way to achieve this. Postponing the start of the Argentine football season is another. So how does one un-achieve this? Even easier: take your uniforms, cut the shirts in [. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal Top 5 Goals

The Offside - Arsenal 31 July @ 09:35 AM EST

Hola, amigos. Their isn't too much else going on on this Friday, but I figured that, as a break from our normal despairing about Arsenal's squad/new uniforms/transfer policy/Diaby, we could do something positive today.

If you recall, the official site has been running a summer-long event to name Arsenal's top 5 all-time goals.

Getafe CF are hoping that the 2009-2010 season is a whopper of a season, ya I know its terrible joke. The Spanish club agreed to a sponsorship deal with Burger King, while that not mean anything the new kits include an interesting wrinkle. Tecos Metamorphosis Continues

Tecos decided to completely change their identity and start to head in another direction.

New Manchester United kit?

The Beautiful Game (2) 24 June @ 02:25 PM EST

Apparently it's a bit old, but recently released ads (intentionally blurry) appear to confirm the ugly black 'V' uniforms.
I don't like 'em at all.

You'd be making jerseys for tonight's game. Why, you ask?
FIFA rules require during World Cup Qualifying that only 18 players may dress, and their jerseys must also be numbered 1-18. The U.S. has 25 players in San Jose, and since decisions on who will be suiting up came be late as one hour before kickoff, the final list of names and numbers can come last minute. How Harry Redknapp Saved Tottenham Hotspur

EPL Talk 21 May @ 11:00 AM EST

Remember how awful Tottenham were at the beginning of the season? Their fixtures and results page looked like a game of Duck, Duck, Goose only the ducks were losses and the goose was a draw. One squinted at the players dressed in white, wondering where they came from and what they had done with the team who'd been knocking on the Champions League's door only a couple of seasons earlier.
