Just a quick round-up this morning:
Terry will go to the Euros...
• Shambolic! RT @RobHarrisUK BREAKING: England captain Terry not to stand trial on
charge of racially abusing opponent until after Euro 2012.
The skinny: John Terry's legal trial regarding his alleged racial abuse of
Anton Ferdinand postponed to the week of July 9th.
Tomorrow's game has a lot on the line for both teams. The Seattle Sounders are comfortably in
the playoffs but want to fend off FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake in the race for the second spot in
the West (the Supporters Shield now being out of reach barring a historical collapse by the LA
Galaxy). DC United is at 10th or 11th in the table - depending on whether or not you're reading
this after the Portland Timbers result - but given their games in hand should be slotted in around
9th or 10th.
Hello Gooners, my good friends. I've come to talk with you again. The fusty old cobwebs of the
international break have been well and truly blown away with vengeance. Swivelling the old noggin
and casting my eye back over the last 7 days, I've taken in a Premier League home game, an Arsenal
Ladies match, an Arsenal Supporters' Trust meeting and a trip to Germany for a Champions League
encounter.

As London gears up for the Olympics, voices of dissent regarding the costs of hosting the games
are widespread. Across the Atlantic, the mood in Brazil ahead of the 2014 World Cup is not
dissimilar.
As well as the all too familiar problem of construction delays there have been some more serious
issues – issues of a humanitarian nature – for the government and tournament organisers to
contend with.
When Kenny Dalglish took over in January, there were many eager to portray him as a footballing
dinosaur who had lost touch with the game after a decade out. This was a sentimental choice, we
were told, and he would soon be found out.
As Liverpool improved beyond recognition in the following months, those who had been critical slunk
away.
I believe it was Martha Reeves that once warbled, "Summer's here and the time is right, for
sitting on your hole and waiting for the fixture list to be published." Whilst on the surface, the
hills aren't exactly alive with the sound of music on the Arsenal front, there froths a bubbling
undercurrent.

I've been mulling over ideas for a piece on this run of clásicos since just before the Copa del
Rey final. Well, in no small part because having this many matches between Barcelona and Real
Madrid this close together is affecting my mind in extreme ways.
Actually, not really. I think it was a fair enough scoreline; both teams could have scored a
goal more maybe. I just wanted to make use of reversal headlines, my favourite kind of headlines.
And reversal was something that our form needed awfully. Arsenal had just one win in a billion
matches, and United's end-of-season harvester was puttering along with a minimum of fuss, belching
out remains of team after team in a string of just-doing-enough, efficient victories.
I write just a few hours before setting off for White Hart Lane. It's fair to say the
butterflies are nesting in for a day of wine and dining at the expense of my guts. The parasite
bastards. I haven't missed a domestic game for some time now (well, since you asked, 9 and a half
years ago), but it's fair to say if I were forced to opt out of one, it would be Tottenham
away.
You know, we could be sitting here this morning in the midst of a massive, massive argument. Was
Saha offside? Does the fact Koscielny take a touch play him onside? Do any of us know the offside
rule? What precisely makes anyone think Lee Mason is a referee?
The fact is Arsenal made Saha's goal an irrelevance.
This one's not too hard to sort out. Andy Gray and Richard Keys had a conversation into hot mics
about how women, particularly a female lineswoman, really don't get the game:
They concurred that female officials "don't know the offside rule", with Keys adding:
"I can guarantee you there'll be a big one today.
