All the results went our way yesterday; so one can assume using Jenas' law that the odds are the
we'll be running into a little trouble today against Lancashire's finest custodians of the game.
(On the assumption that Blackburn have turned into something resembling a pile of detritus.

The timing could never had been better. Precisely ten years after the fall of the Berlin Wall,
another barrier in Europe is being taken down: the wall between the strong and the weak of European
football; between the Champions League and the Europa League; between the Big Four and the Little
16.

Arsenal-Tottenham Hotspur
Both even at nineteen points for the year, this one promises to be a goal scoring feast as the
number three Premier League club faces-off against the number four. Plenty of great players will
be available to put the ball back into the net and either club could use a win to increase their
chances of taking home the league title.

Our home season ends today with a match against Real Salt Lake, who are notorious underachievers on
the road (sounds familiar, right?). If all goes as planned, the referee will blow the full time
whistle in the 75th minute...or not. Either way, if we don't win, we're done. It's as simple as
that.
See you at the match.

The matches to watch after you realize that calling him "Leonardo No Win" is almost too true and
too mean to be funny...almost.

Sports coverage across the globe has taken an odd sheen in the age of the internet. There is so
much more information available to everyone that not very much escapes our notice. One can look up
scores from around the world and hundreds of goal highlights. I love seeing the goals, but don't
really enjoy reading all the anonymous negativity and pointless punditry that the internet seems to
facilitate.

A big story that broke late Friday was this one in The Times which stated the actual figure paid
for Carlos Tevez was £47 million rather than the more widely reported (at the time of the
transfer) £25 million:
Manchester City are paying an astonishing £47 million fee to Carlos Tévez's private "owners"
in a move that obliterates the British transfer record.

La Liga Talk 10 September @ 12:13 PM EST
The Spanish national team has long been forgotten in the midst of the European achievements of
clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona. Los Galacticos and the Catalan club have long dominated the
Spanish football scene not to mention their heavy presence in European club competitions.
While Barca won the Champions League twice the past four years and Los Blancos have established
the record of nine European Cup titles by 2001-02, La Roja was left in their shadow contemplating
an empty trophy cabinet time and again.

When I heard the news that Adebayor might be going to Manchester City (and thus become tenuously
connected to the Sultan of Brunei), I was angry. Not because Wenger might finally be relieving
Arsenal of some deadweight, but because it took him THIS long to do it, and because he didn't have
the ingenuity to angle Bendtner into the deal.

Here we go again. We have two games that start at weird times. It could be a good thing, as it
is very hot in Finland this weekend and people are outdoors anyway, even if it is eight o'clock in
the evening. Maybe a few will find their way to a football match?
FC Lahti (1oth) Tampere United (11th), 7:30 PM
Lahti are having a difficult time in Veikkausliiga, having lost four of their last five
games.

Football is a funny game - this is the sport where anything, and I mean
anything, can happen completely out of the blue. For example, no one ever imagined
that Brazilian star Ronaldinho, who was literally unstoppable not too long ago, would suddenly
become as anonymous as he is nowadays.

Saturday
Rosenborg (1st) Strømsgodset (13th)
And we start this weekend's preview with an appeal. Strømsgodset are a nice little team with a
likable manager and a bunch of sympathetic players (and Stian Ohr).

Does anyone else get the feeling that things have been going too well for too long? The English
Premier League has gone from European underachievers to world dominators in only a few years.
Foreign investment and an influx of the world's best talent has made the Premiership the undisputed
champion of Europe and of the world.

Do those player ratings make any sense? I haven't tried rating the opposition before, usually
because I don't know the other players, and I don't necessarily pay attention to their
performances.
United tended to be solid across the pitch, whereas Arsenal had some underachievers, and some
standout performances.

In the social democracy that is Norway we're all about sharing, but this is getting ridiculous:
A baffling six out of seven games this weekend ended in 1-1 draws. You'd think that with all this
brotherly sharing of points going on the aftermath would be a tranquil one, but the fallout from
the weekend fixtures is dominated by various forms of angry men.
