Looks like it may have been tainted chicken after all.
FIFA revealed on Monday that a majority of the players tested in this past summer's U-17 World
Cup in Mexico had clenbuterol in their bodies, and that it was a result of eating contaminated meat
in the country.

The football season may have finished but for a scout the summer is as busy as any other time of
the year, with many international tournaments to watch. The UEFA U21 Championship and the Copa
America are probably the highest profile tournaments of the summer.

One of the better Under-17 World Cups in recent memory drew to a close on Sunday with Mexico
knocking off Uruguay 2-0 in front of nearly 100,000 fans at the fabled Azteca Stadium. The hosts
fully deserved to claim the trophy after surviving the much tougher side of the draw, and a second
Under-17 title in four editions stamps Mexico as one of the rising powers in international
soccer.

If seeing Mexico lift a second consecutive Gold Cup trophy was enough to leave a large gash in
U.S. men's national team fans' egos, watching El Tri's youth team win the U-17 World Cup just two
weeks later was probably like rubbing salt in the still-fresh wound.

With the free for all that ensued the defeat of Stuart Pearce's men in the Under-21 European
Championships, it was easy to miss the press releases regarding a group of younger players who had
already outdone their England U21 counterparts in a Euro championship.

The last time Mexico reached this final of the Under-17 World Cup back in 2005, another South
American country stood in its way, but Giovani dos Santos and Co. made short work of Brazil,
notching a comprehensive 3-0 victory. Uruguay is the opponent this time around after Fabian Coito's
side stunned the Brazilians to advance to the final of the competition for the first time.

It remains to be seen whether the current Mexico Under-17 side will supply the senior team with
as much talent as the 2005 edition, which captured the U-17 World Cup in Peru behind the likes of
Giovani dos Santos and Carlos Vela. Either way, the hosts are into the semifinals of the 2011
tournament following an impressive 2-1 victory over France on Monday, and striker Carlos Fierro
certainly looks to have a bright future.

In terms of scorelines, Group B at the Copa America didn't bring much excitement to the soccer
world with two 0-0 draws.
When Brazil clashed with Venezuela, Neymar and Robinho tested Renny Vega early, but the
Venezuelan keeper held firm and kept the Brazilians at bay.

England hasn't made a habit of winning too many penalty shootouts, but the Three Lions Under-17
squad did just that on Thursday, overcoming Argentina following a 1-1 draw to reach the
quarterfinals of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup. John Peacock's side fell behind to a goal by
Maximiliano Padilla after 12 minutes, but Raheem Sterling equalized before halftime and England was
the better team.

The United States U-17 National Team was dumped out of the U-17 World Cup by a lethal German
side that showed little mercy in dismissing the States with a 4-0 win.
Despite registering only one less effort at goal (15) than the Germans (16), the United States
couldn't capitalize on its chances and fell behind 3-0 going into the half thanks to goals from
Koray Guenter (20'), Mitchell Weiser (40'), and Samed Yesil (43').
The United States Under-17 national team advanced to the knockout stage of the FIFA Under 17 World

stage, Germany (4 p.m., ESPNU/ESPN3.com/Galavision).
Germany thrashed its Group E opponents by a combined score of 11-1 in three victories and stands
in the United States' way of reaching the quarterfinals.
We continue our visual assault on Chelsea youth prospects with a look at Lucas Piazon's day for
A Seleção against a highly talented Côte d'Ivoire side at the Under-17 World Cup in Mexico. The
so-called new Kaka looks a player, it must said.
Piazon scored the opener a real cool finish then set up the leveler with what was the last kick
of the match.

If the United States Under-17 national team is to progress in the knockout stage of the FIFA

While the rest of the USMNT fan base was busy mourning the recent loss to Mexico in the Gold Cup
final, the U-17 team was celebrating its progression in the Round of 16 at the U-17 World Cup in
Mexico.
A scoreless draw against New Zealand was enough to see the United States finish Group D in
second place behind Uzbekistan.

The U.S. Under-17 men's national team has the talent to bring the United States its first

The 21-player U.S. national team roster for the Under-17 World Cup has been finalized and it
