The top 5 Spurs players of all time

0
That title is possibly a bit misleading because I'm not quite old enough to cover since 1882 but I'll just go as far back as my memory will take me! I'll be looking at about the last 20 years or so.
5. Teddy Sheringham - Ok, I know whenever he signs for a new club it has always been his lifelong dream to go there but you can't argue with the player Teddy was for Tottenham. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool's Albert Riera Is Keen On Manchester United Repeat

2
ALBERT RIERA is hoping to repeat his first experience of English football by helping Rafael Benitez finally break his Manchester United hoodoo.

The Spain international left-winger was unveiled at Melwood yesterday after arriving from Espanyol on Monday's transfer deadline day for an initial £5. Click to continue reading...

Riera On Torres, Rafa and Expectations

0
New signing Albert Riera has revealed he will thrive on the challenge of creating goalscoring chances for 'one of the best strikers in the world'.

Firstly Albert, there was interest in you from a number of clubs so why was Liverpool your number one choice?

I had a clear idea from the first time Espanyol told me there were some offers. Click to continue reading...

Football makes ‘Sweet Dreams’ come true

0
You know what really stood out about the recently closed transfer window?  Not the brinksmanship, the complaints about tapping up, or even the idea of billion-dollar teams squabbling over a couple million pounds.  The one thing that really stood out to me was all the talk about "dream moves." It seemed like every high-profile star that [. Click to continue reading...

Ramos gives me a quick answer

0
I was questioning yesterday whether Juande Ramos was happy with the performance of the Spurs hierarchy in the transfer market. Well it seems like he is judging by his interview with tottenhamhotspur.com

"I have little doubt that we have a squad of greater overall quality now than when I began at this club a year ago," Ramos said. Click to continue reading...

Riera: Don't Judge Me On City Spell

0
Albert Riera today vowed to prove his worth at Anfield and insisted fans shouldn't judge him on his last spell in English football with Manchester City.

On the day Rafael Benitez unveiled his deadline day signing to the media at Melwood, Riera insisted his game has developed during the three years he has since spent in Spain - and now he can't wait to make an impact on Merseyside. Click to continue reading...

New Hertha Berlin signing Andriy Voronin is excited by the prospect of playing in the Bundesliga after joining on loan from Liverpool.

The Ukraine striker was a deadline-day arrival from Anfield and is looking forward a second stint in Germany having plied his trade there for 12 years before moving to Merseyside in the summer of 2007. Click to continue reading...

Were Manchester City close to landing ex-Manchester United striker this week?

2
Recent events at Eastlands have been very sudden. This time a week ago, Man City's financial situation was unclear (remember the story about SWP having reservations?) and the club were on the verge of being eliminated from the UEFA Cup. Now, they have godzillions of pounds to spend on new ... Click to continue reading...

Alex From the Halfway Line

1
Not many YouTube football videos are set to techno music. Bit this one is. And though to begin with it just looks like some men you don't know holding hands... keep watching and you'll see two excellent goals. It's from last week's UEFA Cup game between Cherno More Varna (from the Bulgarian Premier League) and Maccabi [. Click to continue reading...

Everton's last-minute blockbuster

2

Just when it seemed Everton's biggest splash in the transfer window would be oft-injured forward Louis Saha, the club landed Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini from Standard Liege for 18.5 million euros. That pales in comparison to the deals in Manchester at the deadline, but it's still a club record.

Onyewu: No Need To Sell

4
It looks like Oguchi Onyewu will spend at least another half season at Standard Liege after the transfer period came and went without any deal being made. It seems the board at Standard would rather keep him onboard to help the team to another title and to see how far they can advance in the UEFA Cup now that they have been knocked out of the Champion's League. Keflavik Secure Icelandic Title

0
Keflavik IF have won the Icelandic Championships for the fifth time in their history. Keflavik last won the title back in 1973 and they secured their victory on Sunday in a 3-0 home victory against UMF Grindavik. Although there is still one fixture that is yet to be played between second-placed FH Hajnarfjordur and UMF Breidablik Kopavogur, Keflavik are five points ahead of their nearest rival and thus secure the championship. Have Manchester City made the signing of the summer?

0
Things weren't looking too hot for Manchester City on Thursday night, with Midtjylland a hair's breadth away from eliminating them from the UEFA Cup. Mark Hughes' men just about made it through thanks to a fortunate own-goal, and have since kicked on with the acquisition of a former servant and ... Click to continue reading...

SPL review 30-31 August

1
The Old Firm derby was as exciting as you'd expect. Rangers beat Celtic 4-2 at Celtic Park in a game where 2 players (Daniel Cousin and Jan Venegoor of Hesselink) were sent off. 2 goals from ex Celtic player Kenny Miller sunk the hearts of the home team, Daniel cousin scored the games opener with a tremendous solo effort. Manchester United Falls to Zenit St. Petersburg in Super Cup Action

1
Sir Alex started seven men who took home the UEFA Champions League trophy last May but still came up short against the determined Russian side in Super Cup action this weekend.  Zenit also played seven from last May's starting XI that dispatched Rangers 2-0 in the UEFA Cup.  Zenit St. Petersburg did have the advantage of [. Opening Day, Derby Day, Day of Reckoning

3
Today we open our league campaign with an intense derby against Athens rivals Panathinaikos. If we win, we'll breathe a sigh of relief and begin to move past a disastrous pre-season that eliminated us from the UEFA Cup. If we lose badly, it will confirm our worst fears. Anywhere in between will require some analysis, [. Click to continue reading...

UEFA Champions League: Anorthosis Famagusta and BATE Steal Limelight

3
As European's elite begin preparation for another season of shocks, surprises and the inevitable media-circus around Jose Mourinho's long-awaited return to the Champions League, two of the leading performers have already stolen the show by making history. The heroes and villains of Champions League football usually arise as the latter stages progress, but Anorthosis Famagusta and FC BATE have already acclaimed success by remarkably reaching the Group Stages for the very first time. Zenit Saint Petersburg easily defeats Man Utd in Super Cup!

2
Sir Alex Ferguson will have to wait for another chance to win the Super Cup as Dick Advocaat's Zenit Saint Petersburg easily defeated Manchester United 2-1 to win the UEFA Super Cup. Manchester United 1-2 Zenit: UEFA SUPER CUP Goes to Russia

3
Zenit St. Petersburg is the first Russian team to lift the European Super Cup. At the Stade Louis II of Monaco, the winners of last year's UEFA Cup beat the European Champions Manchester United by 2-1, and it was a result thoroughly deserved by Dick Advocaat's team. Only at the very end did the Russians [. Click to continue reading...

Aston Villa sign James Milner

1
Look out Manchester United and Chelsea, Aston Villa have signed James Milner! Doing exactly as I predicted in previous columns, Aston Villa aren't spending big money on a player that can really have a major impact, but are signing a collection of nice, complimentary players who will make their team better, but will not put them in the same league as the big clubs. Zenit St. Petersburg beats Manchester United for the European Super Cup

3
In a mild surprise Zenit St. Petersburg defeated Manchester United 2-1 to claim the European Super Cup, which matches the winner of the Champions League against the winner of the UEFA Cup. Andrei Arshavin did get to play for Zenit in the second half and nearly scored soon after coming on. Its also yet another cup that Manchester United were playing for as they are entered in at least 7 competitions that I can think of with a trophy of some sort on the line. UEFA Cup 2008-09 - First Round DRAW

2
One day after that of the Champions League, the draw for the First Round of the UEFA Cup 2008-09 took place in Monaco Friday. Cyprus 2 - Greece 0

2
According to UEFA, the Greek Super League is more than twice as good as the Cypriot First Division (coefficient ranking of 25.8 to 10.1). Doesn't matter.
