Héctor Reynoso helped Chivas defeat Tigres
The quarter-final stages in Mexico's Torneo Clausura have been completed this weekend and for
UNAM Pumas, Guadalajara, Morelia and Cruz Azul the dream is still alive.
The biggest shock came courtesy of Guadalajara who disposed of tournament favourites and number
one seed Tigres UANL with a 4-2 aggregate victory.
The Clausura 2011 playoffs got under way with mid-week matches and Jonathan Bornstein finally got
some action with Tigres UANL, albeit in a tough loss to Chivas.

The final eight of the Torneo Clausura have been determined after this weekend's matches. Newly
installed CONCACAF champions Monterrey scored a 3-2 win away to Guadalajara to clinch second place
in Group 1, which caused Chivas to slip all the way down to eighth. Only Atlas' 0-3 loss at the
hands of league leaders Tigres prevented Guadalajara from missing the playoffs all together.
With one round of the 2011 Torneo Clausura remaining in Mexico, only three clubs have clinched a
spot in the league playoffs. The two university clubs -- UNAM Pumas and UANL Tigres -- have been
top cats over the regular season, and Morelia have fluttered along and settled into third place
overall that ensures them at worst a wildcard spot.

of them are representing CONCACAF club sides. One is from Mexico (UANL Tigres), two from Costa Rica
(Alajuelense and Cartaginés), one from Panama (Chorrillo FC), another from Canada (Vancouver
Whitecaps FC), and four from the USA (Dallas Texans, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake
Arizona).
