Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is hoping to raise £15million from the sale of misfits Andrea Dossena
and Ryan Babel – and wants to splash some of the cash on Dutchman Eljero Elia.
Roma and Napoli are set to battle it out for the signature of Italian international Dossena when

It's been all business in the Uruguayan and Costa Rican camps this week, ahead of
their first-leg playoff match at San Jose's Saprissa stadium, with no bulletin-board material or
off-key quotes to rile each other up.
Instead, it's generally been a pleasant environment for players, media corps and managers, both
of whom have praised each other's squad's games and achievements but have also divulged very little
information on their respective teams' workouts.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is looking at Hamburg's Dutch midfielder Eljero Elia to help solve his
Anfield crisis.
Benitez has sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old midfielder this season and is desperate to
strengthen his squad, despite him being under pressure to save his job.
Under-fire Benitez has suggested agreeing a deal for Elia - who joined Hamburg from FC Twente for
£7m in August - and then allowing him to stay in Germany until next summer as he is so keen to get
him.

For the record, the photo accompanying this article is from Thursday's Boca Juniors match with
Chacarita Juniors at the Bombonera. It had no effect on the rankings, but I wanted to post a photo
of my own to the entry.
For the first time in over a month, a club remained at the top spot of the rankings for
consecutive weeks as Chelsea solidified its position at the top with a pair of 4-0 victories over
Bolton Wanderers this week.

In the opening five minutes of Sunderland against Liverpool today, a red balloon played a
decisive role in the first goal when Darren Bent's shot at goal resulted in the ball being diverted
when it hit the red balloon in the penalty box. The ball went one way towards the goal, while the
balloon went the other way and past the post.

Ao ver as imagens da chegada a Lisboa da equipa do Sporting , após eliminarem o Twente, notei como
é ténue a separação entre o sucesso e o insucesso e a correspondente fina linha que separa o
carinho do insulto. Não foram estes mesmos atletas e técnicos que tão maltratados foram após o
jogo de Munique, há uns meses atrás?

What do you do when a defender has backed you all the way up to the corner flag, and you have no
where to go?
In this game between Sparta Rotterdam and FC Twente at the weekend, in the first round of
Eredivisie matches, rather than the Sparta forward just kicking it against the defender and out for
a throw or corner, he gets his team mate to remove the offending corner flag so that he can cross
the ball in.

[101 Great Goals] The corner flag is the underappreciated woodwork of the modern game. While the

Whatever level of sport you play at stepping down at the peak of your career to play at a lower
level is practically unheard of. These guys are born winners and focus on winning and everything
that goes with it.
Craig Johnston stopped completely at 28, but can you imagine Ronaldo stepping down to division 2
anytime soon, Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, or Roger Federer at their peak stepping down to local
tournaments only.

bringing Cesc back home and extraditing Ashley Cole.
