Saturday's win did many things but most of all it reminded us that, while the current Fulham
squad does need a bit of tweaking, it contains a number of good players and making moves in January
for the sake of making moves in January is probably not something we need to get too involved
with.
Take the AJ situation.
Skillful wingers in the player pool are at a premium ahead of Thursday's MLS SuperDraft, but
three of the top players available at the position are some of the more sought-after attackers
eligible for selection.
Sam Garza, a Generation adidas signing out of UCSB who can play up top or on the wing, helped
his stock considerably with his showing while playing for the adiPure team at the Combine and had a
big hand in helping set up Ethan Finlay as part of the Creighton forward's hat trick.
Steve Cotterill's search for a goal was to end with nothing again in an increasingly predictable
borefest at the City Ground. Despite 'tweaking a hamstring' in the warm-up Anderson started, only
to be replaced after seven minutes by Garath McCleary, George Boyd ran more in the first half than
he ever did in a Forest shirt, and of course, scored the decisive goal [.
I really just thought of writing about this topic this morning, as I came across an article with
some recent quotes from Sandro Rosell from Barcelona. He's apparently sad that Barca can't make
enough money under the current structures of La Liga and the Champions League. From his quotes, I
believe what he wants is for the major domestic leagues to reduce their number of clubs.
Last night the soccer gods turned away from the Rapids. I'd say they were too busy with golden boy
Tebow, but he might have had a worse day than the Rapids. As a Seahawks fan I feel no sympathy. :D
A combination of a lack of offense and bad luck really destroyed Colorado's hopes of repeating.
The home side controlled play for most of the first half, but as we've seen in recent games, they
could not convert that into goals.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=lswilhUBYxU Many of you will have noticed that we've been continually
tweaking the design of EPL Talk over the past several weeks. While it's still a work in progress, I
want to bring to your attention five new features that...

What an incredible weekend. It started with a forward who scored one goal all of last season
scoring a brace and ended with three of the more remarkable fantasy performances we are likely to
see all season - one from a forward who himself only scored twice in the league last season
(admittedly in limited opportunity over only 15 matches).

The NextGen Series was always about pitting some of Europe's most promising academies against
the best, and for Liverpool, coming up against the academy that has won the Portuguese youth
championships five years in a row and is widely considered amongst the best youth set-ups on the
continent was setting the bar awfully high right out of the gate.
Manchester United suffered some defensive set backs on the opening day of the
EPL season, leaving them with some tweaking to do at the back as they prepare for next weekends
game with Spurs.
The centerback partnership of Vidic and Ferdinand only lasted
60 minutes, before Vidic limped off with what is probably a nerve issue according to Alex
Ferguson.
I love the MLS All-Star format and don't think they should change – and I definitely don't
believe the league should acquiesce to a fresh round of reactionary East v. West sentiment.
But, I certainly think some tweaking of the event is in order. Nothing says, "tweak" like a 4-0
ass-whuppin, especially one that comes one year after a 5-2 ass-whuppin.
Arsenal's failure in winning anything this season despite being very close in getting at least
the Premier League title in the end, make the club's coach, Arsene Wenger, plans to improve the
squad next summer.
Revealing more into the characteristic of new players that the Gunners are looking for, Wenger
stated that they are going more physical next season by targeting taller players that could
physically helped them in dealing with some teams in the future.
Manchester City's strong finish in the premier league this season by reaching the third place
position and also a success in winning the FA Cup have pretty much boosted the players confidence
in competing with their city rival, Manchester United, next season.
One of the Eastlands' players, who believe that his team are really close in rivaling United is
Adam Johnson, as the winger thinks that with a little bit tweaking they will be able to battle for
the league.
Maybe it's nothing more than wishful thinking, but the Sounder at Heart crew thinks this could
be the week Alvaro Fernandez reclaims his starting spot, taking the right midfielder spot in our
projected lineup when the Seattle Sounders visit the Colorado Rapids tonight. There doesn't seem to
be any reason for Sigi to rush Fredy Montero back, and with the game being played at altitude,
bringing him on as a late sub would make a lot of sense.
The early indications are that the Seattle Sounders are at least getting close to full health.
Steve Zakuani is talking about this being the start of his season, Nate Jaqua is apparently going
to make his gameday roster debut and Brad Evans looks to have made it through a week of practice
unscathed.
Anytime Manchester United defeat Arsenal, it's a reason to have some extra pep in your step the
next day and likely for the next day after that.
But Saturday's FA Cup quarterfinal win, in the situation it came in and in the manner in which
United claimed the spoils, could be considered our most important win of the season to date.
Tomorrow the Quakes are scheduled to return to San Jose. They finish up their 10 days in London
with a 2-1 record for their exhibition games. The team beat the Tottenham reserves and Colchester
United, while losing to Leicester City. The Colchester United and Leicester City games were mainly
games for the trialists.
Good morning and welcome to the mini-Interlull.
There's been some interesting developments in that a number of Arsenal players have developed
infectious diseases which prevent them from going away with their country. Cesc has a case of
"gastroenteritis" while Robin van Persie has "flu". With an important game at the weekend and the
arrival of Barcelona next midweek you would have say those are timely ailments.
The other day I made a funny image about Arshavin and his goal face. I said it made him look
like he was constipated. Loyal readers commented that generally speaking I was a terrible human
being for that. In response, over a twitter conversation with arseblogger, I ended up joking about
making Arhsavin riding a unicorn, as though that would make Arsenal supporters happy.
Ridge Mahoney of Soccer America writes about the relationship between Chivas USA Head Coach Robin
Fraser and former teammate and assistant coach Greg Vanney.
Though
Robin Fraser is the man in charge of Chivas USA, he's quick to point out
that his former Galaxy teammate
Greg Vanney will be performing vital duties as an
assistant coach.
