by STUART WATSON I really love the F.A Cup, a lot of my boyhood memories derive from the
competition whether they be good or bad. A few early ones include the two semifinals at Wembley in
the early 90's, Wrexham in 92, Linighans late goal to win us the cup in 93, Andy Walker smashing
the ball past David Seaman to give Bolton a historic win at Highbury, and getting knocked out by
Millwall and Sheffield United in consecutive seasons.
Quick bit of news from yesterday, the Dynamo's trip to face the San Jose Earthquakes in the
second match of the 2012 has been rescheduled, just slightly. Instead of the match being played on
Sunday, March 18th at Buck Shaw Stadium has been moved up a day and will instead take place at AT&T
Park. The move is so the match can be part of a double header with the Mexico U-23 v.
I spent much of the Christmas period in France, and I was delighted to see that there is plenty of
TV coverage of the English Premier League. Not only was I able to watch more a less the full round
of fixtures on Boxing Day, but also the rescheduled Arsenal v Wolves game the following day.
Coverage was pretty good too.
Anfield Rd: Liverpool drawn at home to the Mancs in 4th Round
AFTER beating Oldham 5-1 in the Budweiser-sponsored cup at Anfield on Friday night Liverpool
were in what used to be a hat (probably) for the fourth round draw this afternoon. The balls were
warmed, Jim Rosenthal was excited and the draw was made.
A January weekend to cast off the shackles of league pressure and revel in the romance of what is,
at this stage, the most egalitarian of our competitions.
A Scottish Cup weekend. Breathe in the fresh air of potential shocks and brace yourself butchers,
bakers and candlestick makers making SPL defences look like part-time amateurs.
At last it appears the Dynamo have a better local television deal, though it's still a little
confusing as it's only for six games. I assume the remainder of the games that are television
locally will remain on FS Houston, but details about that haven't been released yet.
From what I can tell, it's a step forward and it means some games might actually be broadcasted
locally in HD.
Will Suarez-Evra verdict help fight discrimination?
THE FA announced on Friday evening there was still no decision on the Suarez-Evra case, that it
would be tomorrow at the earliest before the outcome would be made public and that Liverpool would
have to go into a tenth competitive game with the allegations hanging over them and still no
resolution.
Outside of the TV coverage of the actual matches themselves, what are the things that you can't
live without when it comes to following the Premier League? For example, what TV shows, radio
shows, websites, phone apps, plug-ins, or anything ...

Reds unchanged: LFC v Swansea
AN UNCHANGED Liverpool side will be out looking for three points at Anfield this afternoon
against a Swansea City side yet to record an away win this season. The Reds won their last outing
2-0 away at West Brom and manager Kenny Dalglish has kept faith with the same 11 from the off.
The league that Newcastle play in, and are currently 4th from the top in, is the most
popular sports league in the world. The report on the Premier League was commissioned by the

There is no doubt that the Premier League is the most popular league in the world as the latest

Football's television money will forever turn heads.
The Guardian reports that:
"The deal that shares television's billions equally between Premier League clubs is facing its
biggest threat to date after Liverpool announced they would lead a challenge for overseas TV rights
to be sold on a club-by-club basis.

Video reaction and highlights
There's not a great deal I can say about last night's game against Shrewsbury. The lack of TV
coverage and the dearth of streams meant I have, even this morning, seen the barest highlights.
Going 1-0 down will have been a worry, getting back into the game and winning 3-1, with a pretty
inexperienced team is encouraging, on the face of things.
Subscribing as we do the just-in-time philosophy, here's your weekend TV guide for today's
matches, with the first one kicking off in 15 minutes at Ewood Park. Check back tomorrow morning
for Sunday's picks.
(As usual, we've included US TV coverage, and listed kickoff times in terms of ET.
I always found it odd that Chivas USA was named as such given what the word "chivas" actually
means. For those that don't know chivas in Spanish means "goats." So, essentially, the Portland
Timbers are playing a team called Goats USA tonight. Obviously it's all about the branding being
carried over from their sister club in Guadalajara, but it's still funny regardless.
Color me excited. I got a good feeling about MLS being on NBC and NBC Sports Network. Here is
the promo that was shown last night during a NFL game. Not bad.
Just as I was really excited about the launch of FOX Soccer's Premier League TV coverage this
summer, I ended up being severely disappointed. The same can be said — if not worse — about the
relaunch of FOXSoccer.tv, FOX's broadband channel which...

'There are so many very unhappy people around..' my wife said , her voice tailing off
despondently as we watched the TV coverage this week of rioting, looting and arson wrecking lives
and destroying communities. As Hilary and I tried to make sense of it all, our mood swung wildly
from anger at the wanton nature of the destruction to despair at the social alienation these tragic
events signified.
Hope Solo of course gets the most attention in these parts of the ladies on the United States
Women's World Cup squad. Some of that is due to her growing up in our state and playing for the
Huskies, it is also because she's quite good. The other most recognizable name for Sounders fans
that have only casually watched the games is Alex Morgan.
A dramatic weekend's action ended in Argentina with Martín Palermo's final match at La Bombonera
as Boca Juniors drew 1-1 with Banfield, but although that got more of the headlines and TV
coverage, Vélez Sarsfield are the biggest winners of ... Continue reading →
Throughout the Premier League season, we've been spoiled with so many remarkable TV coverage,
podcasts and radio shows to enhance our love of the beautiful game, so it's perfect timing to
reflect back and announce the winners of the 2011 EPL Awards...

We lamented a bit last week over the close of the (European) club season, with most of the big
leagues decided (and after the weekend, France (Lille) and the Netherlands (Ajax) also crowning
champions). So what else is a CultFootball fan to look to, aside from the upcoming Champions League
final (10 days away!
This season's CONCACAF Champions League comes to a conclusion with the second leg of the final
between Monterrey and Real Salt Lake. Both sides drew 2-2 in Mexico, and RSL enter their home match
with the away-goals advantage. Can RSL become the first MLS side to win the CONCACAF Champions
League? Can Monterrey overcome their recent slump and score a remarkable away win?
Spurs have announced their first set of 2011-12 pre season fixtures with confirmation of the
club's participation in the Vodacom Challenge which will be held in South Africa in July.
Defender Michael Dawson said on the club website: "Pre-season is an important time and
preparation is key in order to start the season well.
By Andrew Villegas Even the most casual followers of soccer around country have heard this tune
before: Startup sports league with huge eyes identifies niche, sees potential for growth, money,
more TV coverage, better press and eventually a multi-tiered youth academy system that feeds a
multi-tiered league system.
I can't remember who it was, but I read an interview with a football who said that he never
watches his goals on TV as his memory of scoring the goal becomes eroded and replaced by the TV
version. I know exactly what he means there.
When you think back to last year's Europa League run, which parts can you remember from the
grounds?
Greetings Sanforders. The new season is here, complete with spotty TV coverage, weeks long gaps in
the schedule, some new teams, an even dumber playoff format and a bunch of new import stars. The KC
Wizz changed their name to try to banish memories of their sole championship and Fat Tony Meola,
Toronto ripped it all up and started over for the third time in 3 years, Jewel of MLS and NJ Soft
Drink once again cornered the market on dumb rumors and condescending BS from management.

Following soccer in the United States can be difficult when you're a relative newcomer, and finding
a team to call your own even more so. I've wanted to find a time to root for most of my time here.
It's all very well staying aloof to the vagaries of the club season, but supporting a soccer team
is fun, and I don't want to miss out.
The FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 Germany is poised to mark a milestone in competitive women's
football with unparalleled coverage on television in terms of both production and distribution
International women's soccer seems to grow quite a bit between every Women's World Cup and
this summer's tournament in Germany will set some new milestones.
On the topic of TV coverage, this is a press release that FIFA put out today. Pretty cool
stuff.
The FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 Germany from June 26 to July 17 is poised to mark a milestone in

After an initial initiative from the breakaway Liga Primer Indonesia comes news that the Indonesia
Super League are considering foreign refs for the second half of the season.
Under the plans not all games would be officiated by foreign refs but selected taking into account
the attendance, any previous between the teams, clubs' position in the table and TV coverage.
Don't be surprised if US soccer fans begin chanting a new soccer at future USMNT matches. Watch
the above video to hear the hilarious commentator celebrating Teal Bunbury's goal as he sings a
catchy song in the match that ended 1-1 between the United States and Chile.
