I don't have to tell you how far the MLS has come in its short existence (relative to most other
soccer league around the world, age-wise). In just 16 years, the sport of soccer itself along with
MLS has really taken off. Popularity is growing. Quality of play has vastly increased from the
early days.
I spent much of the Christmas period in France, and I was delighted to see that there is plenty of
TV coverage of the English Premier League. Not only was I able to watch more a less the full round
of fixtures on Boxing Day, but also the rescheduled Arsenal v Wolves game the following day.
Coverage was pretty good too.
Will Suarez-Evra verdict help fight discrimination?
THE FA announced on Friday evening there was still no decision on the Suarez-Evra case, that it
would be tomorrow at the earliest before the outcome would be made public and that Liverpool would
have to go into a tenth competitive game with the allegations hanging over them and still no
resolution.
Outside of the TV coverage of the actual matches themselves, what are the things that you can't
live without when it comes to following the Premier League? For example, what TV shows, radio
shows, websites, phone apps, plug-ins, or anything ...

The San Jose Eathquakes are the MLS comeback kings of 2012, and Swansea City were the latest
team to find that out.
Inspired by two late goals from Steven Lenhart, the Earthquakes rallied to a 2-2 draw with
Swansea in a friendly played at Buck Shaw Stadium on Tuesday night.

by STUART WATSON I really love the F.A Cup, a lot of my boyhood memories derive from the
competition whether they be good or bad. A few early ones include the two semifinals at Wembley in
the early 90's, Wrexham in 92, Linighans late goal to win us the cup in 93, Andy Walker smashing
the ball past David Seaman to give Bolton a historic win at Highbury, and getting knocked out by
Millwall and Sheffield United in consecutive seasons.
AN UNCHANGED Liverpool side will be out looking for three points at Anfield this afternoon
against a Swansea City side yet to record an away win this season. The Reds won their last outing
2-0 away at West Brom and manager Kenny Dalglish has kept faith with the same 11 from the off.
With Euro 2012 kicking off, here's the list of live TV coverage for all the matches of the
tournament, for your convenience. With this amount of coverage, you may be better off than some of
those heading to Eastern Europe ...

A January weekend to cast off the shackles of league pressure and revel in the romance of what is,
at this stage, the most egalitarian of our competitions.
A Scottish Cup weekend. Breathe in the fresh air of potential shocks and brace yourself butchers,
bakers and candlestick makers making SPL defences look like part-time amateurs.
The culmination of the European club season is upon us. Bayern Munich takes on aging interlopers
Chelsea in the Allianz Arena which happens to be Bayern's home ground. Â (For US viewers: kickoff
is at 3pmET, and the match will be televised on Fox's main network. Â In fact, the Fox networks are
going full bore with almost-Super Bowl levels of TV coverage see below for the full schedule.
If someone asked me how many times I have gone back to the TV coverage and replayed the moment
Fernando Torres broke free, controlled the ball with a fabulous first touch, moved towards goal and
then rounded Valdes to stroke the ball into the empty net to wrap up the game at the Nou
Camp, I couldn't tell you - I have seen it that many times.
Frank Lampard's arrival in Portugal for Chelsea's Champions League clash against Benfica saw him
come face-to-face with a local joker called Emplasto (the plasterer). The prankster has made
himself a bit of a celebrity by hijacking TV coverage of high-profile figures. He seized on the
opportunity to join Frank for a photo with a young [.
"Hey look Dad, a Saint and Greavsie Cup Final special at 1 o'clock".... Nothing says FA Cup
Final day like Jimmy Greaves wearing a comical oversized Spurs hat whilst Ian Saint John laughs
through his piece to camera. Those were the good old days, but first, lets fast-forward to the 2012
FA Cup Final.
FOX Soccer's TV coverage of the UEFA Champions League has continued to improve ever since it
acquired the rights to show the competition in the 2009/10 season. The best example of their
improvements is the pre-match, half-time and post-match shows....
It was poker night last night down at Mugsmasher's place. I lost everything in one hand some
time around 2.30am to a bearded cardshark. Which probably wasn't a bad thing considering I'm now of
an age where I take a Vampiric approach to nighttime I'm ok once it's dark but I'm fucked if I'm
going to let daylight hit me.
Anfield Rd: Liverpool drawn at home to the Mancs in 4th Round
AFTER beating Oldham 5-1 in the Budweiser-sponsored cup at Anfield on Friday night Liverpool
were in what used to be a hat (probably) for the fourth round draw this afternoon. The balls were
warmed, Jim Rosenthal was excited and the draw was made.
NBC Sports kicked off its first season of MLS TV coverage Sunday with only 82,000 viewers.
Embarrassingly, there were nine outdoors (fishing and hunting) TV shows that day that had larger
viewing audiences. It was a case of good news ...

At last it appears the Dynamo have a better local television deal, though it's still a little
confusing as it's only for six games. I assume the remainder of the games that are television
locally will remain on FS Houston, but details about that haven't been released yet.
From what I can tell, it's a step forward and it means some games might actually be broadcasted
locally in HD.
Vurnon Anita was seen arriving by car at the Benton training headquarters and he was accompanied by
his Italian agent Mino Raiola, who was talking on his cell phone in English of course and Raiola
was slightly shorter than Vurnon, and looked a little bit like Mike Ashley if truth be told [...]
Good morning sarcasm fans, a very quick Saturday round-up for you as I have to bring the pup to
the vets after his midweek illness. I suspect he's quite fine as I came home last night to find him
chewing quite contentedly on my Macbook which he'd managed to take down from the kitchen table.
Fair play to Apple, they hold up quite well to puppy slobber.
1) MVP: Andres Iniesta being named the tournament's best
player: The Spanish attacking midfielder has been one of the world's best players for the last few
years; however, he was not even Spain's best player during Euro 2012. The decision to name him as
Euro 2012′s best player seems questionable and an escape from a more complex decision which
likely would have seen players such as Andrea Pirlo, Mesut Ozil, Xabi Alonso, Ilker Casillas and a
couple of other players all picked ahead of Iniesta.
An excellent  first interview with Romain Amalfitano today on nufcTV by Rob Scanlon, and

Does the Kansas City Royals poor start to the season hurt, help, or not matter to Sporting KC's
success off the field?
Â
For those that don't watch a ton of baseball (myself included), the Kansas City Royals are in
the midst of a very long losing streak right now. Eleven straight losses, ten of those at home,
not the way that you want to start a season that many felt would finally see the Royals be a little
more competitive in the Central Division.
When soccer and beer collide... that's the best of both worlds. This space reserved for any
intersection of the suds and the sport whether business, beer and soccer events, or random

Saint Patrick's Day is always a bit of a haul for Americans as we over-indulge on unnecessary
things like green beer and Jameson when we'd never think of doing such regularly.
Quick bit of news from yesterday, the Dynamo's trip to face the San Jose Earthquakes in the
second match of the 2012 has been rescheduled, just slightly. Instead of the match being played on
Sunday, March 18th at Buck Shaw Stadium has been moved up a day and will instead take place at AT&T
Park. The move is so the match can be part of a double header with the Mexico U-23 v.
