Thank you for the feed back on the last preview and with that feed back I will do my best to try
to have the same format.
With the win last Friday the Portland Timbers finally climbed out of the cellar and now they
need to get a result on the road to stay out of it. Colorado has not been a place Portland has
looked forward to traveling to with each game they have played at the Dick ending in 3-0
losses.
Portland Timbers control the first half for 45 minutes and 30 seconds and get the first goal.
The 30 seconds they didn't control the game the Vancouver Whitecaps get a Corner on a dubious call
and of course they score. Portland did not let the late first half goal get them down and they came
out firing on all cylinders and got the go ahead goal.
The Portland Timbers put cross after cross into the box in the first half but no Timber was able
to get on the end of them. Then in the 45th minute Portland finally got on the end a cross as
Bright Dike put the ball in the back of the net. In the second half Portland fell back into bad
habits and sat back more than they should have but they were still able to see the game out for the
1-0 win.
The United States wasted no time as Landon Donovan put them on top in the third minute. The goal
was a result of turnover good play in the midfield which resulted in a great chance for Donovan.
His first shot was saved but he quickly followed up and sent a shot just under the crossbar to make
it 1-0.
The Los Angeles Lakers walked off their home floor with another loss on Saturday night, leaving
the team down 3-1 in the series and on the verge of playoff elimination. And though Kobe Bryant
missed eight of 10 shots in the fourth quarter, he insists the 103-100 loss to the Oklahoma City
Thunder wasn't his fault.
CARSON, Calif. -- During the first two weeks of their season, the Los Angeles Galaxy struggled
to score goals, but against DC United, the goals finally came--and in bunches.Â
Robbie Keane scored two goals and Marcelo Sarvas added a third as the Galaxy defeated DC United
3-1.
Their Words "We've got a lot of work to do," admitted the boss in his pre-match press conference.
"There's absolutely no doubt about that. But for us it won't be for the want of trying. The players
here have got a great focus and an incredible attitude. They are very determined and have a real
drive to make the supporters proud.
Along with sexy suit-wearing, awkwardly-pointing Maxi, we're giving you a heads up that we're
moving on. Our long-awaited transfer to SB Nation as a host platform is mostly complete, and after
a few button clicks on Friday morning, we'll be in the future. In case you're wondering, Charlie
Adam's terrible at making decisions on the break there, too.
The weeks that have passed since Kenny Dalglish was dismissed from his role as manager have been
filled with anxiety, mostly brought about by the fact that all we've done and really all we can do
is wait. We waited to hear for the details of Dalglish's firing (which we never got), we waited to
hear what sort of plan the owners were executing in their search for a new manager and Sporting
Director (which we never got), and now, with Brendan Rodgers all but appointed, we're still waiting
for the club to officially confirm that he's the next Liverpool manager.
A few hours ago, news emerged that Damien Comolli's time at Liverpool had ended by "mutual
consent." The only surprising thing about it is the timing. Though some of the more blindly loyal
amongst the fanbase had continued to argue that there was a solid plan in place and that the club
was on the right track, to most it had become clear that somebody was going to have to take the
blame for a thoroughly underwhelming league campaign.
Alex Olshansky with a statistical look at the quality of play in MLS. Is the league
in midseason form?
They played well ....
poorly despite .... because they are or are not in mid-season form.
We hear a variation of that quite frequently, especially in the context of the European summer
barnstorming tours or CONCACAF Champions League matches.
Woke up nice and early to eat some breakfast and prepare the boys with a tactical walk through.
We centered on how we wanted to attack in possession and defend against Soccer Stars USA's 3-4-3
formation.
Boys looked ready and anxious. Got them prepped in our locker room and around 10:15 we took to
the field for warm up.
The Revs midfielders desire to dribble over playing the ball quickly has hurt the team lately.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. It's the same story, just different night for the New England Revolution. The
Montreal Impact came into Foxborough and took advantage of the one mistake New England made, while
the Revolution didn't have an answer for Montreal's defensive shape.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (June 14, 2012) US Soccer Players -- As with so many things, it
wasn't just what happened on Wednesday afternoon in Chester, it was how it happened. The
Philadelphia Union decide to part ways with manager Peter Nowak, a standard Major League Soccer
turn of phrase that masks what might have actually happened.
In the wake of the bizarre circumstances surrounding the Danny Califf trade, it is clear that
the Unionare a team in crisis. I was previously willing to make excuses for a slow start that could
be turned around in the latter half of the season. Given the lack of transparency with both the MLS
and the Union, it's unclear where the source of the problems lies.
So let's say you have two players: Player A and Player B. Going back to the beginning of the
2010 season, here are their stat lines in Major League Soccer Regular Season play:
Player A: 2 goals, 19 assists
Player B: 15 goals, 8 assists
Ever since Chelsea won the Champions League, I have been buzzing and still watch Didier Drogba's
header and winning penalty virtually every day as I still can't quite believe that after eight
years of this team trying, they finally won it.
However, one thing has become very clear to me in recent weeks and that's the resentment of Chelsea
from other supporters.
There are very strong rumours emanating from some key underground Asian market makers that John
Terry was allegedly the footballing equivalent of a non-trier in horseracing last evening.
The betting turnover on the match globally was the most voluminous we have ever seen...
But surely the Club Captain, Former England Captain and Alleged Celebrity Racist would not be
involved with his associates betting against his own team.

The Harrisburg City Islanders improved their record to three-for-three verses MLS sides this
season by beating the Philadelphia Union 3-2 at Hershey Park Stadium. The friendly took place only
two weeks before the two teams are supposed to square off in US Open Cup action at PPL Park.
Reggie Lambe gave Toronto FC fans a brief glimmer of home on Saturday, scoring two goals four
minutes apart to erase a first-minute goal from Chicago's Dominic Oduro.
Then the TFC defense collapsed.
The Fire scored two unanswered goals, including a game-winning tally from Patrick Nyarko, to
give the Fire a 3-2 victory at BMO Field on Saturday.
There were no goals, and few quality scoring chances, only question marks and some concern for
the U.S. national team as it heads toward World Cup qualifying following Sunday's 0-0 draw against
Canada.
Credit to the Canadians, they stayed organized and compact and never let the Americans get
comfortable in the final third.
The list of nominees was long for the second in our eponymous yearly awards. Joe Mason, a regular
starter and scorer for Cardiff; Kevin Nolan, hardly cheap, but still value for money; Rhoys
Wiggins, who's developed into by far and away the best left-back in League 1 over the course of the
season after Charlton had snaffled him for a modest fee; and Crawley's quick and dirty turnover of
Tyrone Barnett were all heralded as good pieces of business up and down the leagues.
The finances of Real Madrid are fairly sound. If the full-blown FFP were up and running now,
Real Madrid would be ok. They are nothing like Man City, Chelsea, PSG etc.
Real Madrid owe money, but not too much compared with their turnover. So in normal times they
won't fail.

Eden Hazard is a name that has filled football forums over the past few weeks as he's repeatedly
teased the fans of Premier League clubs with speculation over which club he would join.
Whilst City plan to make no amendments to their current financial structure, with the wage bill
currently exceeding their turnover, and Chelsea continue to have the highest wage bill in the
league, it was safe to assume that Hazard would not be coming to United.
Arsenal have posted a £36.6m profit on last season's figures which have seen the club's turnover increase by £10m to a record £235.3million. As revealed on JustArsenal earlier this week the cash reserves have been posted as £153.6m, with the debt at a very reasonable £98m which is mostly serviced by a long-term mortgage on the stadium.
John Hackworth held a teleconference on Monday with reporters to discuss the dismissals of Diego
Gutierrez and Alecko Eskadarian from the Union. Check out PSP's selected transcript of the
teleconference for extended quotes.
Hackworth said of the firings, "The bottom line is they are not with the Philadelphia Union
anymore.
That seems to be the unspoken claim amid the marketing hype marking two decades of the English
Premier League and TV revolution ushered in by Rupert Murdoch's Sky.
While the English top flight celebrates like history never existed before 1992, our own game is
down in the dumps, mired in debt, penury and recrimination.
The young guns in Oklahoma City continue to show they are the team to beat in the Western
Conference. On Thursday, the Thunder traveled to Los Angeles for another test against the Lakers.
The result? A 102-93 victory to move eight games ahead of the third place Lakers.
The Thunder were led by Russell Westbrook's 36 points.
My 96 girls travel players are mostly freshmen in high school now, all playing on their
respective school teams (we have players at five different schools). To say it has been a shock for
some would be an understatement, even those playing Varsity. Coming from the physical, intense, and
fast paced environment of club soccer, it's been an interesting adjustment for some in how they're
being asked to play.
