Coventry City fans were in vocal and defiant mood during the 2-0 defeat at Reading yesterday.
Several rousing choruses of their signature Eton Boating Song rang out and the raw commitment that
perhaps only comes with adversity and temperatures hovering around zero degrees was on full
display. Among the targets for opprobrium were the club's owners since 2007 – Sisu Capital – a
cabal whose very mention led the comments section to combust after Ian Palmer so expertly picked
apart Coventry's parlous financial state during our recent Turmoil Week.
Despite Newcastle performing well at the moment and the turmoil we've been through this week, the
Newcastle fans aren't overly confident about getting a result down at the Lane. We're difficult to
beat at home and they worry about their defence up against an inform Bale. Then again there are
some fans that reckon they can get at least a draw or cheeky win out of us given that our strike
force is misfiring and our current main threat in Bale had a shocker against Liverpool.
Bob Bradley has always been a tremendous example for his players and leader as a soccer coach. Now,
in the wake of a terrible tragedy, he is asked to do the same for a nation.
Bradley insisted Monday that he is "totally committed" to coaching Egypt's national soccer team
despite the turmoil in the country following the riot at a game last week that left more than 70
dead.
Saturday brought the shattering news of the death of Nigel Doughty, owner of Nottingham Forest. In
our latest conversation piece, we talk to Steve Wright of the website Mist Rolling in from the
Trent about the past few years at the City Ground and the atmosphere of turmoil that has
enveloped the club.
This certainly isn't going to go down that well with the FA.
England manager Fabio Capello laid out his thoughts on John Terry and the FA's decision to strip
him of the England captaincy to Italian broadcaster Rai 1 today. To say he's not pleased
with what has transpired would be a gross understatement.
Here, Roger Willis rounds off our 'Turmoil Week' with the second part of his Plymouth Epic.
Yesterday he focused on the background that led to Argyle's financial meltdown; today he moves on
to bring us right up to date with the key events. The Supporters Start to Act There was widespread
panic amongst supporters at this stage.
As our 'Turmoil Week' draws to a close, we turn the spotlight westwards to Plymouth, arguably the
most well-documented club in crisis over the past 18 months or so. Thankfully, the situation at
Home Park now appears to be settling down but here season ticket holder Roger Willis takes a look
back over an incredible few years, describing in detail the events that very nearly led to the
Pilgrims' demise.
This week, we shall be running a series of five posts examining the fortunes of 5 clubs that have
experienced significant financial and/or organisational turmoil in recent times. Unfortunately,
this cross section is but the very precarious tip of a very grubby iceberg indeed - and if you
think the problems we shall detail are unique to this quintet alone or indeed the 72 clubs in the
Football League, then think again.
The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help me god! By Toby With so much turmoil
at the club at the moment its hard to know which way to turn or who to listen to, fans like myself
spend hours trawling the net for a hint of a big signing or [...]
As a player, you have respect for Barcelona but you never have fear. You have to plan for a good
game against them and to try to cause them problems. So no, we do not have any fear of Manchester
City, especially because we're playing at home in this match but we do have the ultimate respect
for them because they're the league leaders.
Arsenal continue their decent into the relegation zone after another disastrous Champions League
match where they once again showed their defensive frailties and lack of mental strength and
character, and facing the stalwart Fulham FC will offer no let up to the North London crisis
situation.

With Major League Soccer continuing to grow, the state of the league's schedule and the future
of league expansion remain trending topics in league circles.
MLS commissioner Don Garber harped on both in his State of the League address on Thursday,
alluding to the the fact that the schedule will not be getting any longer despite more teams being
added and that while putting a second team in New York is still a priority, the league is meeting
with other cities to talk about expansion.
Get Used to It: They're StayingIt was bound to happen. It might even have happened if the
Red Bulls had found a way to progress beyond the Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday and make it all the
way to MLS Cup. What am I talking about? The boatload of scathing editorials asking for Hans Backe
and Erik Solér's heads on a plate as a result of the Red Bulls' failures this season.
Having only recently overcome a worrying groin problem, Steven Gerrard could now be sidelined for
at least a month after being diagnosed with an infection in a cut on his ankle.
According to a report this morning in The Sun, the Reds' club captain will find out how long he
will need to recover from the complaint today.
Chelsea 3 Arsenal 5 ... Yesterday's astounding win against the Blues was arguably Arsenal's most
impressive attacking performance since the defeat of Barcelona in February and, regardless of their
opponents' suspensions, apparent dip in form and Terry's ‘turmoil' behind the scenes, the Gunners
justified Wenger's optimism.
Liverpool FC has undoubtedly changed for the better since NESV (now Fenway Sports Group) wrestled
the club away from Tom Hicks and George Gillett. A year has now passed since the new regime took
over, but how has the change of ownership affected the players?
Has the day to day business of playing for Liverpool Football Club in the Premier League changed as
a result of new ownership?
It wouldn't be United week if the press wasn't full of stories about how Liverpool was in some
kind of turmoil. In the past it might have been players leaving and managers losing the plot, but
this time around it's been a little more low key—just a bit of talk about how Liverpool's out to
kill football dead because they're evil, greedy, and not very nice.
Memories are funny old things. Events become fine tuned to specific key moments and time merges
into a mass of indistinguishable snapshots. Dad took me to a lot more games this season yet looking
through Phil Cowan's archive none really spring back into focus. I know I went to a lot of games
because I had a large stack of these bawdy, yellow bannered, programmes.
Another Monday morning and off to work for many faced with the negative banter that an Arsenal
defeat brings. But worse, not just any defeat the Spuds have turned us over, years of disingenuous
crowing at our North London neighbours is coming home to roost today. All that "I can't wait to get
to work" of previous years, doesn't work so well today does it?
THFC1882′s Stuart Watts presents another guest piece from Ciaran Griggs. This time Ciaran
previews the Shamrock game.

Relatively slim picking this weekend for must-see matches. Here are a few quick picks for
Saturday:
Saturday, Sept 24
Spain, Sevilla-Valencia 12pmET (GolTV): Valencia is atop La Liga, undefeated
after drawing Barcelona at home mid-week, in an exciting game they very well could have won (or
lost, actually).
Newcastle have a big chance to get through to the 4th round of the Carling Cup tonight at
Nottingham Forest. Dan Gosling - likely to get start tonight Forest are in a little disarray after
a terrible start to the season in the Championship under new manager Steve McClaren, and there have
been some fan protests to add to the turmoil.
Arsene Wenger had his young Arsenal side flying towards a possible four trophies last season until
it all came apart at the seams after losing the Carling Cup Final. The turmoil this caused led to
Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Samir Cashri leaving the club which forced Wenger to bring in a host
of new [.
Every year around this time, we warn you that turmoil is ahead in the rankings. That is because
when domestic leagues complete five full matchdays (where everybody plays), all of the prior
season's numbers are purged from the database. Of the top five domestic leagues in the world, the
first two to reach this point in the season, Germany and France, had it happen to them this week.
Sometimes, help can come from the most unexpected of sources. Last Friday, it was announced to a
mixture of joy and relief probably more of the latter than the former, considering the shenanigans
of the last few months that Plymouth Argyle Football Club had been saved. After repeated broken
deadlines and wage deferrals for the longest-suffering staff in British football, we were told in
an official statement that, "Bishop International Limited has secured the necessary funding and
everything is agreed between the numerous parties" in order to complete the sale of the club and
its ground to the Gibraltar-based company, who would take ownership of its Home Park ground and
bring in Peter Ridsdale as the Chief Executive of the club.
Another day, another selfish, overpaid footballer publicly displaying disloyalty and naked
self-interest. This time, it's Manchester City's new signing Samir Nasri, who has rather
classlessly stabbed Arsenal in the back at a time of real turmoil for the club.
As with many players in the world's top leagues, when the going gets tough, the ladyboys of modern
football 'bail and bitch'.
In a recent interview, Liverpool owner John Henry claimed that it could take years for Liverpool to
be in a position to challenge rivals like Man United and Chelsea for the title. Clearly, Henry is
doing a great job of managing expectations, but is he right about the club's current status?
In his excellent interview, Mr.
Morning all,
there's a rather important game this evening so before we think about players who don't want to
be here any more and who might replace them, we'll focus on that.
The team news is that Johan Djourou travels, as do Armand Traore and Tomas Rosicky. The latter
is still not a definite starter and will have further fitness tests pre-game to see if he can take
part.
It usually doesn't do to scrutinise my pre-season predictions too closely.... and barely two weeks
into the season, I'm already wondering whether Yossi Benayoun really is going to be the fulcrum at
Chelsea..... but I did say this about Arsenal:
"
I can't see him being sacked, but what are the odds on Wenger walking out at some point this
year?
Players from Carolina Railhawks and Montreal ImpactThe Price Is Right Host Drew Carey must have
felt the pricetag for the Seattle Sounders was close enough without going over, as he partnered up
and ponied up to lead that franchise to MLS and beyond. But, would he do the same for an NASL
franchise, in other words, are there more big pocket spenders out there ready to take a chance on
the NASL?
Arsenal are still a formidable force, warns Liverpool's Kenny Dalglish
• Liverpool manager defends 'fantastic' Arsène Wenger • 'They have lost Fábregas but it
will be a difficult game' With respect to Arsène Wenger, big clubs do sell big players and retain
ambition providing they reinvest on the field and not into their bank accounts.
A pretty important match, no doubt.
Well, we won something. 2 games into the season and we're undefeated, we won the crucial first
leg of the CL play-off tie, and we have yet to concede. The bad parts come in once you start
looking in depth at our performances, and of course, the return of that unwanted friend:
Injury.
Jose Enrique Agrees Liverpool Terms
Jose Enrique is reported to have agreed personal terms with Liverpool and will complete a
transfer pending a successful medical. The Spaniard will pick up £60,000 a week as first choice
left-back at Anfield. It was this time last week that we reported a fee being agreed between
Newcastle and Liverpool for the transfer of Enrique , and it appears a conclusion is close as the
player is believed to be set to move this week.
Currently the Carolina RailHawks are the class of the NASL. They sit atop the table in the North
American Soccer League after an impressive first half of the season which saw them go on a 10 game
win streak and a record 13 unbeaten matches. Naturally, the questions begin to come about the
future... Questions about the future of players, of coaches, management and ownership.
Adebayor 'on strike' as City relationship turns ugly Premier League, Football The
Independent.
We already heard last week about Carlos Tevez wanting to move out of Manchester City because,
allegedly, he wants to spend more time with his family. Good news then today from Brazil for the
little Argentine firecracker that it's richest club, Corinthians, has posted a $55m offer which
will take the diminutive little cry baby closer to where his family resides.
Being a Manchester United fan has obvious benefits. There's the trophies, the youth system, the
stadium, the nice kit, the fact that you'll never struggle to see a game on television, and the
lack of managerial turmoil. And the more of this you have, the easier it gets to take it all for
granted even those who lived through the barren years will say silly things after a defeat at
Anfield or a home draw against relegation fodder.

Zidane is here. He is officially Real Madrid's sporting director. Zidane played for Real Madrid for
like 6 years and during time we won a lot of titles and he was the driving force behind them. His
last year with Real Madrid are a player was disappointing because the club was in such a turmoil [.
In what was a turmoil ridden campaign for the Giallorossi, there were always going to be
causalities – the question is, will ‘il capitano futuro', the disaffected Daniele De Rossi,
follow Philippe Mexes out of Rome? Understandably, vultures in the form of European football's big
guns are circling over Roma's carcass, hoping to pick from the bones of last season, before Thomas
di Benedetto can.
Mexican Soccer Fans Celebrate Gold Cup 2011 Victory!I'm not fully sure how to explain it. Maybe
it's because Mexico seemed like the underdog or maybe I was hoping they could win it for their
country, which has been through so much turmoil from the drug wars and could use a little
pick-me-up. Most likely, it's because of their style of play and the joy they gave throughout the
Gold Cup tournament.
