The San Jose Earthquakes believe that they have found another compliment to Chris Wondolowski
with the signing of Turkish forward Sercan Güvenışık.
The 31-year-old German league veteran impressed the Earthquakes during a two month trial with
the club last season, which included scoring two goals in a reserve match against the Los Angeles
Galaxy.
For a long long time I have said that I would love Arsene Wenger to play Thomas Vermaelen at
left-back.
In fact, when blowing the candles out on my (ahem) 18th birthday cake last year I wished that the
Belgian would become a regular there.
I have always felt that Arsenal would be so much more solid at the back with him playing there.

It is only a matter of weeks since former Arsenal man Emmanuel Eboue was the subject of a rather
heated debate on Pies over his reaction to being pelted with bottles during a Galatasaray game
against Besiktas.
However, the rather unpredictable wing-back seems to have found his feet in the Turkish league,
netting his second superb goal in two games for Gala.

Our weekends were filled with Iker in tight pants-greatness, thank you for asking. How 'bout
yourselves, Kickettes?

- John and Toni Terry attended the 'Fashion for Good' charity event at Brooklands Hotel just
at the beginning of the weekend.
In an attempt to promote a more nonviolent, family friendly atmosphere, the Turkish league has
banned male soccer fans from attending matches this past weekend. In their place, women and boys
under the age of 16 were allowed to cheer on their favorite clubs for free. To read more of the

There are a lot of funny and impressive incidents in football this week, and all of them related to
'attitudes'
I think this is the best (or worst) dive I seen in my life,
He got yellow card, however with this attitude, I think he deserved a red one :)
Well, did you think that player was cheating or he did over-dive?
Last Wednesday Fenerbache players found themselves playing in front of 41,000 fans, mostly girls
and some children, something sure they never imagined in their lives. Yes, no adult men were in
stadium at all !!!!!
How it happened?
Slowly, we're taking over the football world. Image: AP Photo.
With misbehaviour by fans in Europe plummeting to new depths of depravity, football associations
are becoming increasingly innovative in their sanctions.
So congratulations to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), whose latest punishment is in
honour of the firecracker wielding, pitch invading supporters who've been troubling their fixtures
as of late.

The draw for the 2011-12 UEFA Champions League has taken place amid some controversy in Monaco
this afternoon. Less than 24 hours after Turkish champions Fenerbahçe were forced to withdraw from
the competition by the Turkish Football Federation, the inclusion of Turkish League runners up
Trabzonspor in the draw raised some eyebrows.
The tenacious Turkish midfielder has agreed terms
Doesn't that just feel good to say? Tuncay has undergone a medical with Bolton Wanderers and the
signing is due to be announced at any point. There are no official word on terms of the deal yet
but what we can gather is a year long loan from Wolfsburg of the Bundesliga with an option to make
the move permanent that's in the region of £3 million.
In what we hope will be a reoccuring section of the site, Ned Hardwood has submitted the first
guest column on the site. He writes an article breaking down his thoughts on MLS's use of
Designated Players and the DP rule. While "MLS Reserves" does not always agree or disagree with the
thoughts of our guest columnists, we do encourage healthy debate and conversations on this
topic.

MATCH FIXING IN TURKEY
AFP reports that Besiktas is set to surrender the Turkish League Cup title they won last season.
Aziz Yildirim, Fenerbahce's chairman faces match fixing charges
The most notable arrest in the match fixing probe sweeping the Turkish league has been that of
Aziz Yildirim, the chairman of league champions Fenerbahce. Almost 100 people have been taken into
custody throwing the future of next season into doubt.
Aziz Yildirim, the president of Turkish league champion Fenerbahce, was charged in court on
Sunday over his involvement in an alleged match-fixing scandal that threatens to strip the club of
its title.
Thousands of Fenerbahce fans took to the streets of Istanbul in support of Yildirim and other
Fenerbahce officials who were also implicated in the scandal.
Actually it was late Saturday night for me,here in the United States, I was outside with
friends....came hone and as I was looking at my twits ,I saw a lot of people were talking about
early morning arrests, in Turkey on Twitter!(@turkishsoccer )
Early Sunday in Turkey, there was a wide search and arrests about match fixing accusations and so
called motivation money giving to other teams.
Fifteen minutes. That is all it took for the U.S. Men's National Team to turn Saturday's
embarrassment at the hands of Spain into nothing more than a bump in the road during an
international friendly.
When Jozy Altidore found the back of the net 15 minutes into the Americans' game against Canada
in Tuesday night's opening match of group play in the Gold Cup, everything that happened on the
field against Spain was forgotten.
ISTANBUL, Turkey Fenerbahce clinched their 18th Turkish league title with a 4-3 win over Sivasspor
on Sunday, moving ahead of the 17 won by arch-rivals Galatasaray. Trabzonspor, the Istanbul club's
only challengers, won 4-0 away to Karabukspor to also finish on 82 points but Fenerbahce became
champions due to a superior record in matches [.

According to the football law, the referee is like an object inside the pitch, like a post or a
flag. If the ball hits him, you just continue playing. If it hits him and it was reflected to the
goal, it is a correct goal. It happens, especially when he just stands in a very bad position. I
find it unfair.
Set-piece duty set-to Everton fans will have noted minor rivalry between Leighton Baines and Mikel
Arteta to take the last-gasp free-kick which ultimately sent their FA Cup clash with Chelsea to a
penalty shootout. Baines took responsibility and scored, avoiding any possible repercussions. All
rather muted compared to this incident from the Turkish league.
Big Stars Join Turkish Soccer ClubsBy Emre Karatas
With the big signings of Scotch Kenny Miller and American Jozy Altidore to the last Turkish
League champions Bursaspor and as called ‘Portugal gang' by Turkish media Simao Sabrosa, Almeida,
Manuel Fernandez who joined Besiktas, Turkish soccer is now observed by the world soccer media.
Amanda and Megan feature in this episode, as they discuss the latest developments with the US
Women's National Team and Major League Soccer. They get into an extended conversation about the
"silly season" and its impact on American players. We don't know much about the Turkish league, but
we're pretty sure that Freddy Adu is taking a step down, and not for the first time.
U.S. national team striker Jozy Altidore is heading to Turkish league champions Bursaspor on a
six-month loan, Altidore revealed via Twitter.
Altidore leaves Villarreal in search of more playing time after being limited to cup appearances
and a substitute role on a strong Villarreal side currently in third place in La Liga.
The current transfer window in Poland is far more interesting that I expected. First of all, the
'eternal' talent of Polish football, Paweł Brożek, finally left Poland (together with his brother
Piotr) to play for the Turkish league leaders Trabzonspor. Even earlier Sławomir Peszko decided to
capitalize on his impressive Europa League performances and moved to his dreamt of Bundesliga.
