Barcelona and Real Madrid are the dominant teams in Spain and they proved it by being the two
teams that monopolized nearly half of the spots of La Furia's 30-man roster. Barcelona ended
up on top as seven of their players earned call ups. There were some surprises in Vicente Del
Bosque's list, but for the most part the players that were expected to be on, were.
After missing out on Euro 2012, the FIGC decided to put in a bid for Euro 2016, the first
European Championship that will have 24 teams instead of the usual 16. The bid included new
stadiums in many cities across Italy (and some simply being renovated) and many saw Italy hosting
Euro 2016 as the only way we'd see some new stadiums around the peninsula.

On Tuesday, the United States National Team visited the White House where they met with President
Obama, Vice President Biden, and former President Clinton. Following the visit, the team left for
Philadelphia to continue preparations for Saturday's game against Turkey at Lincoln Financial
Field.
55,407 were at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday for the United States' final friendly before
leaving for South Africa. With US coach Bob Bradley using a first choice lineup, the team found it
tough going early against Turkey. Arda Turan opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and that score
held through halftime.
Landon Donovan assisted on second-half goals from starting forwards Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey
to give the United States a 2-1 comeback win over Turkey on Saturday. The match at Philadelphia's
Lincoln Financial Field in front of 55,407 vociferous fans was the Americans' last before departing
for FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa.

France have beaten Turkey and Italy for the right to stage the European Championship in
2016.
France previously staged the tournament in 1960 and were hosts again in 1984, winning it with a
team captained by Michel Platini, the Uefa president.

PHILADELPHIA- If the U.S. men's national team was looking for a challenge its send-off series
finale against Turkey, it got just that as it had to rattle off a shaky to start to post a 2-1
victory at Lincoln Financial Field.
Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey each scored second-half goals off Landon Donovan assists,
erasing a 1-0 deficit after Arda Turan netted on a counterattack in the 27th minute.

Bob Bradley has named his 30 man provisional roster for World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
Obviously the big question on the minds of everyone was what he was going to do up front with the
loss of Charlie Davies. It seems Ching, Gomez, Findley, Johnson and Buddle are going to fight it
out for a spot or two.
As an avid reader my entire life my mood toward material is constantly changing. Every couple of
months I am into something else. Sometimes it can be non-fiction that includes material on great
leaders, real life travel journals, serial killer profiles, organized crime; other times it is
fiction that includes Paulo Coehlo, Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, and Truman Capote.
U.S. coach Bob Bradley's 30-man provisional squad for FIFA World Cup 2010 commenced training on
Monday in Princeton, NJ. The USA will face the Czech Republic in Hartford, CT on May 25th and
Turkey in Philadelphia on May 29th before Bradley's final 23-man roster is submitted to FIFA by a
June 1st deadline.
MLS on Fox Soccer Channel: Seattle - San Jose at 3pm. On Galavision: Houston - DC at 8pm. Champions

English League playoffs: Blackpool - Cardiff at 10am on Fox Soccer Plus. Plus also has Turkey -

At the time of this blog post there is 17 days, 20 hours, 16 minutes and 25 seconds until the
World Cup starts! Man, it's going to be a great summer for soccer!
The US Men's National Team has been training hard in training camp and they are soon about to
play two friendlies. The roster is 30 players now, it needs to get down to 23 so these games are
extremely important.

We had a feeling last night's game would be an interesting one to watch. Going in we figured
most of the key guys would sit it out so Bob Bradley could figure out who those last four to six
guys were that would be going to South Africa.
Jason, thanks to a power outage at Ginge's house, goes solo to talk USMNT roster. Ahmet Turgut
joins in to talk about the upcoming Turkey match, and Noah Davis of Goal.com and USA10Kit.com adds
his perspective on the US team. Listen on the CRSN Media Player here.
The US Mens National team took a trip to the White House on Thursday to meet up with President
Obama, Vice President Biden and former President Bill Clinton. The players got a brief send off pep
talk by the president and a few were able to shake his hand. Bob Bradley seemed to unusually smiley
when the President told the team, "We're going to be proud of what you do when you get to South
Africa, and you will have somebody in the Oval Office who's going to be watching ESPN to make sure
that things are going OK.
Europe France beat Turkey and Italy to stage Euro 2016 -- from BBC Sport: "This is a beautiful day
for us." Gill hits back at Green and Gold -- from The Independent's Sam Wallace: "A lot of the fans
clearly care about the club and that is a strength." Lawwell: new manager will be ‘worth the
wait' -- from The Herald's Graeme Macpherson: A show of hands at the end of the meeting reportedly
showed.
UEFA President Michel unveiled his home country France as hosts of Euro 2016 today. I know what
you're thinking. "Fix!", right? But probably not. UEFA is not a dictatorship, and France was
elected as Euro 2016 host after a series of ballots by UEFA committee members.
The other two bidding nations were Italy and Turkey.
Colour me unexcited that a major international tournament is again going to France in 2016, in
what will be their third in 32 years (and a third European championship in total):
France were named as hosts of Euro 2016 by UEFA president Michel Platini here on Friday, the
French bid beating off strong opposition from the two other candidates Turkey and Italy.

Frank Lampard has played his entire club career in England, but that hasn't stopped him from
thinking of possibly joining MLS.
The USA will face Guus Hiddink and his men at the Lincoln Financial Field in
Philadelphia today at 2 PM. The final match before the squad departs for the World
Cup.
A chance to experiment with the new faces in the squad or does Bob Bradley stick to the familiar
figures. Oguchi Onyewu's performance will be keenly watched to see whether the AC Milan central
defender's return to match fitness is going as planned.
United States vs. Turkey. 2 PM EST. The last opportunity for the US to send a message to the
world. Join in on the banter with us as we live blog the event!

Here's the early clip. As usual, I'll switch out for the detailed version when it arrives and I
will have USMNT Player Ratings at S365 tomorrow.- Greg Seltzer
Just got back to the home office from the USA Turkey game and here are a couple of quick
thoughts:
• Someone should steal Spector's passport and not let him on the plane, he is terrible and I mean
terrible.
• Findley's speed is going to be an asset late in games.
• For all of the crap little Bradley has taken over the years, he is our most consistent player.
Interesting day of pre-World Cup friendlies that threaten to throw all we know about the World
Cup up in the air. For a start, New Zealand as you can see above, beat Serbia to get Kiwki pulses
racing that little bit faster in the build up to South Africa.
To put that in perspective, Serbia are ranked 15th in the Fifa World Rankings and have Stankovic
and Vidic.

With two weeks to go in the Turkcell Super League season, the action is heating up, and Turkish
Football Weekly is right on top of it. Bugra and Ata go over the results of week 32 of the Turkcell
Super League. The Ziraat Turkish Cup final between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce is analyzed, along
with news from around the league, which this week includes a rumor that a beloved former
Trabzonspor player may return to Turkey to coach a team.
Tonight could be the last time that Real Madrid fans see several of their players at the
Bernabau. Spanish Sports paper "AS" has correctly pointed out today in its edition that tonight
many current REAL MADRID players will say good-bye, with another hand full possibly finding that
their future is elsewhere next season, a number that tallys up to eight players.
As if next weekend couldn't get any more ridiculous for Gotham-area footie freaks, the annual
AdiCup tournament (formerly known as Fanatic) is slated for next Saturday, May 22nd. If you've
never been it's an orgy of BBQ, music and some of the most crushingly fashionable soccer-types NYC
has to offer.
I'm selling a ticket for the upcoming match in Philadelphia between the U.S. National Team and
Turkey. You can check out the auction on Ebay by clicking here.
Turkish Football Weekly this week has coverage of the historic championship that Bursaspor won
this past week. Also, Turkey's chances for hosting Euro 2016 are discussed with the guys from the
Round Ball in Ankara blog.

The twist in the tale saw delirious celebrations in Bursa and Istanbul simultaneously, because some
bright spark with a microphone at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu stadium announced (wrongly) that
Bursaspor had faltered and they were champions. Such cock-ups do not get accepted in Turkey with
the kind of stoicism observed at Manchester City in 1996, when they famously welcomed the "news"
that they had escaped relegation by easing off for the last 12 minutes of a crucial game, a scene
that turned tearful and melancholy when corrected scores from elsewhere condemned them.
When the Red Bulls announced that they would be taking on Juventus in a friendly just one day after
Red Bull Arena hosted its first ever international match - between Turkey and the Czech Republic -
I decided to make a weekend of it and book a hotel in Harrison. I'm not big on meaningless games,
but I'm having a hard time saying no to any game at the Cathedral of Football.
Union President Tom Veit wants to be the Chelsea or Inter Milan of U.S. soccer. Does this mean
we can expect a $200 million summer spending spree?
The Turkish National team could be riding quite a high coming into Philadelphia this Saturday.
UEFA will vote this week on a home for Euro 2016, and Turkey's government-financed bid looks to be
one of the top contenders.
The shock of conceding the Turkish Super Lig to Bursaspor, not exactly a powerhouse proved too
much for Fenerbahce supporters. This is a week old but the message never gets old.
We have passion but in Turkey, football is life and death.
For the record Bursaspor won the Lig for the first time.
