You probably know of Darius Vassell's toils in Turkey. What you may not know is that he
documents his mental travails in a blog. Some of which is quite disturbing. Read on for the

I feel like there is something stirring, boiling .
Seattle Sounders FC's leading goalscorer Fredy Montero has received offers from at least two teams
overseas, according to a Colombian report. One of the potential suitors was revealed to be Turkey's
Fenerbahce; the other team, an unidentified club from Russia.
Montero, 22, appeared in 27 games in his first season in Major League Soccer after joining the club
from Deportivo Cali in his native country.
I was really motivated this morning by the Guardian's discovery of Darius Vassell's lonely blog
from Turkey, which includes typical footballer fare like "Can't get any sleep, just thinking about
the many problems that i have here and the best solution. Lying there awake in bed, the sound of
the air conditioning is like the engine room to a train of stressful thoughts .

England's Ian Wright and Paul Gascoigne mess about in the mud during a training session ahead of
their World Cup qualifier in Turkey in March 1993. England beat the Turks 2-0 but still failed to
qualify for the 1994 World Cup finals in America.
A few things seem to be jumpin' and I will gradually update this through the day. Many of our
situations to follow have wrapped up already, so I wouldn't suspect an avalanche here, but I'll see
if I can dig up a few things. We shall start slow...German outlet TorFabrik claims that both FC
Cologne and Turkish side Trabzonspor are pondering transfer offers for 'Gladbach midfielder Michael
Bradley.
Yes, I'm still alive. Sorry things went quiet last month. With no Rapids news and working 10 hour
days a majority of a time, not to mention the in-laws visiting for the holidays, something had to
give. All that is (hopefully) behind me though, so expect to see a more regular posting schedule
here.

There is some four months worth of news to sift through, but we'll make a start with a couple of
ex-Norwich City men. Ian Henderson has joined Colchester United this week, having recently played
for Ankaragucu. Henderson never really settled in Turkey, despite having a girlfriend from the
country, and he left the club by [.
We wrote recently of of Man United as a club in decline see here. But here is real, solid
evidence coincidentally also linked to Leeds...
And that evidence comes in the form of Harry Kewell. Remember him? The dilletante ex-Leeds and
Liverpool winger, farmed off to Turkey, a shadow of the player he once was.
Every year the A-League is churning out new Aussie stars. This year is no different. There's more
this year than any year in my view and a couple with real quality others with real potential.
Some like Mark Viduka, Brett Emerton and Ned Zelic will go straight from the domestic league to top
European sides.
Story of the day sees us linked with Fiorentina's Adrian Mutu:
"I will be in Italy for the final week of the transfer market," the player's agent, Giovanni
Becali, said. "There are several clubs interested in Mutu, clubs that would definitely allow him to
increase his wages. There are clubs keen on the player from Russia, Turkey but especially
England.
UPDATE: According to ESPN Soccernet, Adrian Mutu is unlikely
to join Manchester City. Mutu told prosport.ro,
"Will I go to Manchester City? I don't think so ... At the moment, I just want to have a
successful second half of the season with Fiorentina .
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Lucas (and his bubble booty) may be gone from
the PL, but his soul patch survived the trip to Turkey. Take comfort in the small details,
Kickettes.
