There's an article in the Telegraph offering England's take on the USA-Turkey friendly. Always
interesting to read their (generally dismissive) take on the Yanks...
In Landon Donovan, Jose Torres, Clint Dempsey and Robbie Findley the Americans possess a
creative component sufficient in potency to trouble any, if only they are bold enough to trust
it.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are the dominant teams in Spain and they proved it by being the two
teams that monopolized nearly half of the spots of La Furia's 30-man roster. Barcelona ended
up on top as seven of their players earned call ups. There were some surprises in Vicente Del
Bosque's list, but for the most part the players that were expected to be on, were.

Rumours swirling around the internet this morning are suggesting that Liverpool's new owners
NESV are weighing up taking the £3 million hit it would take to release current manager
Roy Hodgson back into the wild thus clearing the way to install Frank
Rijkaard at the Anfield helm.
It looks like Joseph Ngwenya's return to the Houston Dynamo might not be happening after all, at
least not anytime soon. The Zimbabwe-born forward's last club, Turkish side Antalyaspor, has turned
down the Dynamo's request for Ngwenya's International Transfer Certificate (ITC), apparently due a
dispute between the player and the manner in which he left the club.
After missing out on Euro 2012, the FIGC decided to put in a bid for Euro 2016, the first
European Championship that will have 24 teams instead of the usual 16. The bid included new
stadiums in many cities across Italy (and some simply being renovated) and many saw Italy hosting
Euro 2016 as the only way we'd see some new stadiums around the peninsula.

The Turkey match brought us a very entertaining second half from the United States with some
good combinations throughout and the surprising play of Jose Francisco Torres. The diminutive
midfielder is not the stereotypical player that you see given a chance in the United States system.
Hopefully his play in the future will turn some heads here in the United States and steer us away
from predominately coveting size, strength, and speed; and taking into account technical prowess
and tactical ability as well.

If you've seen Hamit Altintop's wonder goal for Turkey vs Kazakhstan already (where have you
been!?) ... well, I'm sure you won't mind seeing it again. And again. And again. This is truly a
goal for the ages, which may sound a bit wanky until you actually watch the f**ker:
The goal of the season, in September?
You probably know of Darius Vassell's toils in Turkey. What you may not know is that he
documents his mental travails in a blog. Some of which is quite disturbing. Read on for the
choicest exerts...

I feel like there is something stirring, boiling .
Early in the second half of Saturday's U.S. victory over Turkey, Yanks right back Steve
Cherundolo could be seen exchanging shouts and scowls with Michael Bradley around the Turks'
18-yard line. Trouble? Hardly.
Intrigued. It will cost you. But just as a bit of word play, the article was written by Luke
Cyphers who will decipher all that goes on the field.
U.S. national team striker Jozy Altidore scored the equalizing goal for Villarreal in Sunday's
2-2 exhibition draw against Besiktas, volleying home his first goal since scoring in a pre-World
Cup friendly against Turkey.
The goal came against Turkish club Besiktas, the same team he was reportedly set to be sold
to.
Seattle Sounders FC's leading goalscorer Fredy Montero has received offers from at least two teams

Fenerbahce; the other team, an unidentified club from Russia.
Montero, 22, appeared in 27 games in his first season in Major League Soccer after joining the club
from Deportivo Cali in his native country.

55,407 were at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday for the United States' final friendly before
leaving for South Africa. With US coach Bob Bradley using a first choice lineup, the team found it
tough going early against Turkey. Arda Turan opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and that score
held through halftime.
Landon Donovan assisted on second-half goals from starting forwards Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey

Its been a couple days since the U.S. National team faced Turkey in their final send off game in
Philadelphia. I've watched a little bit of the replay of that game to look deeper at the team to
see a few things.
I'll be brief in my thoughts though since two days has nearly passed.

Snarl! Oh Angela, you hot cougar! She could just eat up smooth-chested Mesut Ozil. He wouldn't
stand a chance, poor little Galactico.
Back in the real world, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was congratulating Ozil and his Germany
team-mates on their 3-0 win over Turkey in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Saturday.
U.S. U-17 MNT head coach Wilmer Cabrera and winger Nico Melo talked about the end of the Nike
International Friendlies and the 2-0 loss to Turkey:
I was really motivated this morning by the Guardian's discovery of Darius Vassell's lonely blog
from Turkey, which includes typical footballer fare like "Can't get any sleep, just thinking about
the many problems that i have here and the best solution. Lying there awake in bed, the sound of
the air conditioning is like the engine room to a train of stressful thoughts .
The U.S. men's national team will take on the Turkish national team at Lincoln Financial Field
in Philadelphia on May 29 in its final World Cup tune-up match, Philadelphia Eagles officials
announced on Tuesday.
The match will be one of two tune-up friendlies the United States plays before departing for

The plans for U.S. Soccer's quadrennial send-off series -- a last hurrah before the team heads

PHILADELPHIA- If the U.S. men's national team was looking for a challenge its send-off series
finale against Turkey, it got just that as it had to rattle off a shaky to start to post a 2-1

erasing a 1-0 deficit after Arda Turan netted on a counterattack in the 27th minute.

April 2000: Leeds United fans respond to Galatasaray's infamous 'Welcome To Hell' banner. As
seen during the Uefa Cup semi-final second leg at Elland Road.
The semi final was, of course, overshadowed by the death of two Leeds fans, Christopher Loftus

The chancellor's office and the German football federation are trying to iron out a flap over
Chancellor Angela Merkel visiting the Germany dressing room and congratulating half naked players
after their 3-0 win over Turkey. A photograph showing Merkel with Mesut Oezil, a German player of
Turkish background, upset German federation president Theo Zwanziger—apparently because he was
not taken along for the occasion in Berlin on Oct.

England's Ian Wright and Paul Gascoigne mess about in the mud during a training session ahead of
