Beginning in 2015, the Tulsa Roughnecks FC will be the second professional soccer team in the state of Oklahoma.

After it was announced that Tulsa will be getting a USL Pro franchise, the choosing of the name of the team was left to fans, with 50 percent opting for Roughnecks, paying homage for the original Tulsa Roughnecks that played in the NASL from 1978-1984.

USL Pro's rapid expansion is blowing through Tulsa, Okla., where a new team will begin play in 2015.

USL Proannounced Wednesday that the Great Plains city will be the league's 15th expansion site with the new club being owned by The Tulsa Drillers of Minor League Baseball.

Tulsa freshman forward Christian Mata stole the show on Tuesday night, scoring two goals to help lead the Golden Hurricanes to a 2-0 upset win against No. 20-ranked Creighton in Oklahoma.

Mata opened the scoring in the 56th minute when he finished off a pass from Bryce Follensbee, then added his second in the 86th minute to help Tulsa improve to 6-3 on the season.

The Philadelphia Union signed a third goalkeeper on Friday, inking a deal with former University of Tulsa standout Jake McGuire.

McGuire was drafted in the second round, 30th overall, by the Houston Dynamo in January's MLS SuperDraft but was released by the club to trial with the Union earlier this month.
