Football Is Coming Home 19 November @ 09:25 AM EST

Ireland was robbed. Pure and simple. My 8-year-old daughters watched the Henry hand ball with gaping eyes. One proffered: "Just like I do in basketball!" Her sister then deadpanned: "And he was offside on the pass." Children have an amazing way of stating the truth, don't they?
In his Hall of Shame acceptance speech, Thierry Henry said: "I will be honest, it was a hand ball.

And so George Burley's reign ended as we knew - and in his heart of hearts he must have known - it would. ALBERTO AQUILANI - The truth about his transfer fee. How much will he REALLY cost?

Liverpool Kop 15 November @ 09:01 AM EST
There seems to be a lot of confusion over how much Liverpool paid/will eventually pay Roma for the services of Alberto Aquilani. Figures such as £20m, £17m and £5m (!) have been bandied about, but the truth is the total outlay could (potentially) turn out to be much more.
On the 8th August 2009, Roma released official details of Aquilani's transfer fee. Click to continue reading...

Alex Gerrard: Toasty Tootsies in Liverpool

You know there's only one thing to talk about in this photo, right? And it ain't how gorgeous Mrs. Gerrard is looking though she is looking completely foxy.

Shit Shot Mungo: Series Two, Episode Fifteen

Twohundredpercent 05 November @ 02:12 PM EST

Swine flu fever has overtaken Heart of Clackammanshire this week but new manager Gary Burns isn't going to let that get in the way of the club's best winning run in years, in this week's episode of "Shit Shot Mungo", which also lays bare the truth of Mungo McCrackas Lemsip addiction. This week's Mungo is brought to you by Ted "The Neck" Carter (who, if you were wondering how he got his nickname, fell through a roof and broke his neck a little over three years ago, in case you were wondering he's okay now, but he's not allowed to go on rollercoasters any more), and is available in a higher resolution here.

Uli Hesse-Lichtenberger in Germany

Sanford's Soccer Net 03 November @ 07:21 AM EST
Guido Erhard tried to write a book. The working title, he said, was: "Truth Be Told - A Life on the Brink". He said the book would "give other people hope and courage". He didn't say it was also a way of coming to grips with his own demons, but he didn't have to.
"Truth Be Told" was never published, because on a cold, dark and snowy Thursday in February 2002, Erhard hurled himself in front of an incoming high-speed train at Offenbach main station. Click to continue reading...

Pride

The Boys From White Hart Lane 31 October @ 07:19 AM EST
I'll keep this very brief.
I don't care what they've achieved recently or in the past. I don't care how much better they are than us. I don't care how big their stadium is or how illustrious their manager is. I don't care what players they've got or whether their better than ours or not.
The truth is they're a bunch of cheating, arrogant, whining Frenchmen and no matter the score today or any other day, we will always, always be the pride of North London. Click to continue reading...

Rapids Out of Postseason

We want Rapidman 25 October @ 07:27 PM EST
The Colorado Rapids will not be going to the postseason for the third straight year after New England beat Columbus today. Reality Bites for Spearing

If Jay Spearing needed a lesson in the fickle nature of football fans, he certainly got it this week. We want his kind at The Lane

THBN - Tottenham Hotspur Blog News 20 October @ 01:58 AM EST
The Sun reported that Harry's interested in signing Club Brugge defender Vadis Odjidja. The red-top's article wasn't too enlightening either. Apparently, we're lining up a £5 million bid for him.
The Sun got it wrong in saying that he's a defender. Odjidja is a defensive midfielder. Whenever I've seen him play, he's deployed just in front of the back four and he's fairly adequate at getting stuck into the oppositions face and break up play. Click to continue reading...

The season so far… Championship promotees

OK Football Finder 17 October @ 01:00 AM EST

Promoted Championship teams entering the Premier League transition in different ways. Some settle straight away and show why they belong in the league. Others take longer and end up struggling to survive, battling in the relegation flight. Then there are the special cases: teams that surprise everyone and do extremely well with relegation not even a factor to consider during their first season; or conversely they are completely out of their league and winning is not a realistic goal.

No place for Owen on the plane to South Africa

Michael Owen had been one of the most lethal strikers in Europe when he was at his peak but numerous injuries and some bad career choices have prevented them from reaching his full potential. He, nevertheless, amassed 89 England caps and scored 40 goals (Owen goals), just nine less than Sir Bobby Charlton, who is England's top scorer of all times.
