The Laws of Soccer 101: Free Kicks

Soccer Tickets Online 17 August @ 07:00 AM EST

The 13th Law of Soccer deals with "free kicks". Now, to those of you youngsters out there, free kicks are not the equivalent of a ridonculous sale @ Rackroom Shoes. No, they refer to the kicks soccer players take after penalties.

Now, Law 13 only deals with direct and indirect kicks and leaves the 14th Law to cover PKs.

DTotD: Rio and MJ

Dirty Tackle 06 August @ 03:12 AM EST

Rio Ferdinand apparently spoke to Michael Jackson in a bit taped for his digital lifestyle magazine #5 before the King of Pop died, which probably makes Rio the last footballer he ever talked to. That bit of trivia has to be worth something in a pub quiz eventually, right?

And no, this isn't a dirty tackle, but you're just going to have to deal with that.

The Next Generation

U.S. YNT Blog 25 May @ 07:50 PM EST
The folks at U.S. Soccer sometimes like to refer to themselves as one big family, and it's easy to see why on weekends such as an Academy Showcase. But sometimes it's truer than you'd think.
This here is Trevor Mulqueen. He's the son of U.S. MNT U-20 goalkeeping coach Tim Mulqueen and one of the smallest members of the coaching staff. Click to continue reading...

New Aston Villa Away Shirt 09/10 Season

EPL Talk 25 May @ 10:35 AM EST

Images of Aston Villa's new away football shirt for the 2009-10 season have been released on its website. The new kit is currently available for pre-order and will be officially launched on June 20.

I'm not sure what it is about Nike, but many of their new shirt designs feature pinstripes which I'm not a big fan of whether it's the United States men's national team home strip, the new blue one for Arsenal or other pinstripe designs.

So this guy gets treated to a soccer broadcast that takes the game seriously and suddenly realizes that he likes it.
That doesn't surprise me.
