In a case of the means justifying the end, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish employed stultifyingly
negative tactics to triumph against Manchester City in the Carling Cup two weeks ago. This ruined
the game as a spectacle, and Liverpool fans will be hoping for a more proactive, attacking approach
in the second leg tomorrow.
What an amazing story Mirandes is. The club, stuck in the third-tier of Spanish football, came
from a goal down to beat Espanyol 2-1 in their Copa Del Rey quarter-final second leg and progress
to the tournaments semi-finals on the away goals rule.
Espanyol took a precarious 3-2 first-leg lead to Mirandés tiny stadium in Miranda de Ebro in
northern Spain.

2005.
Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda has expressed relief at the club's recent back-to-back wins
over the Wolves and Portsmouth, and hopes that the Blues can continue to perform well.
A lack of stability has hindered the Blues' prospects of domestic success this season and with
Stamford Bridge not being the fortress it has been in recent years, Malouda admits that the team is
particularly concerned about the home form.

It's hard to get too excited about Buriram PEA winning the Thai Premier League. It's been a done
deal for so long plus the involvement of high profile politicians and the lingering suspicions of
franchise football all leave a bad taste in the mouth.
There are though a couple of noteworthy achievements to come out of their triumph.

Sacha Kljestan's run of form is turning out to be anything but temporary.
Kljestan continued his strong season for Anderlecht, scoring a goal in the club's 5-3 triumph
over Lokomotiv Moscow in their UEFA Europa League battle. His curling effort to the far corner dug
Anderlecht out of an early 1-0 deficit and helped the Belgian side win its group, which should make
for a more favorable result during Friday's knockout round draw.
The field is set for the 2012 CONCACAF Under-17 Women's Championship being held in Guatemala in
early May after Karla Riley scored her second goal in four days and led Panama to a 2-1 victory

capped another sublime display with the winning goal on Saturday afternoon.
The Uruguay ace was a constant menace throughout the Reds' 1-0 triumph over the Hoops and Orr

I'm going to take a small break from writing about Arsenal today to vent on a subject that has
infuriated me since listening to the European Championship draw on Friday evening, and that is the
supreme arrogance of English pundits with regard to the national team. We all know that England are
forever overhyped before major tournaments, but it is the dismissive contempt for many of the other
countries (those not called Spain, Germany or Italy) that winds me up the most.
One of the greatest midfielders of all time, Socrates, has passed away at the age of 57.In 1982, he
captained the Brazilian side at the World Cup in Spain. With him as a leader, the team is surely
the best side never to have won a World Cup, after they were defeated by Italy in one of the most
legendary matches in World Cup history.
After Wednesday night's triumph for Crystal Palace against Manchester United at Old Trafford, that
was another reason why I'm falling in love again with the Carling Cup — a competition that has
often been derided in the past. Crystal Palace ...

This home game against Borussia Dortmund could turn out to be tougher than the away visit to
Chelsea. It probably won't have as many goals and will be tighter in the middle, but from a
physical and mental point of view the players will have to give at least as much if not more than
that celebrated triumph.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has expressed hope that the underachieving England squad performs
well in next summer's Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, despite knowing that the level of
competition will be extremely high.
Wenger understandably considers Germany and Netherlands as the greatest threats to defending
champions Spain but after watching the Three Lions defeat the Spaniards 1-0 at Wembley on Saturday,
the Frenchman refuses to rule out the prospect of an English triumph.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has declared himself fit to face Italy in Uruguay's friendly on
Tuesday - but admits he already has one eye on the weekend clash with Chelsea.
The 24-year-old scored all the goals in Friday's 4-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Chile in
Montevideo but came off 13 minutes from the end with a minor back complaint.
Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has laughed off comparisons with Barcelona forward and fellow South
American Lionel Messi.
Suarez has been one of the best players in the Premier League since joining the Merseyside giants
in January from Dutch giants Ajax and was also instrumental in winning the Copa America with
Uruguay in the summer.
First off, big ups this week to J-Klinger, who correctly predicted Houston drowning out KC 2-0 -
even had a set piece goal right - and was only a goal off but hit the result dead on in LA's 3-1
