Many are now familiar with the West Ham United Umbro 2009/10 home kit. However, at last night's MTV
European Music Awards, rocker host Katy Perry donned a new incarnation of the Hammers kit to pay
tribute to boyfriend Russel Brand's favourite soccer team. Katy's West Ham kit consisted of a
corset and tight-fitting shorts.

Could you imagine Marvel Wynne or O'Brien White getting racially abused in the BMO parking lot by a
Toronto FC supporter? Not that I'm of the whole "there's no racism here, we live under Pierre
Trudeau's beautiful multicultural rainbow where nothing ever goes wrong" school of Canadian self
back-slappery, but let's just say if it happened, I suspect you would get headlines in every single
national daily, weeks of op-eds about how racism persists in Canada, and anti-racist tifos in the
south end that would make Dichio's tribute look like a bit of tissue paper.

Thanks to an email from a fan up north. This video of the Red Patch Boys creating a large

This is a loooong video so you may want to clear some time in your Outlook calendar if you intend

tribute banner it's somewaht fitting that the video is super-sized; any banner that has to be
carried by forklift desereves the director's cut.

One of the misfortunes of living outside the United Kingdom and supporting English football is
that when a legend dies, there are incredible heartwarming documentaries and news programs shown in

I'm a few days late with this, but here's Springsteen's tribute to Giants Stadium, from the
opening night of the final stand there. Love the line about the Giants. And the mosquitoes. It's
got a feel similar to Blood Brothers, but he also sounds a little bit like Dave Bielanko from Marah
on it, which is a cool way of bringing the influence full circle.

As defined by NSC reader Mike, for our purposes, a "dark horse" is basically anyone outside the 23

seemingly from almost nowhere to win a World Cup place.

(Sadly the wit and wisdom of Brian Clough - or at least my attempted tribute to it in the last
line of that column is apparently lost on the copy editors here; it should read "the top one,"

time for them. So it was with Pauline England, who was a reader of this site and sadly died earlier
