Have to say I do like this idea, a great way to commemorate a national event
Digging deep for commemorative woods
Organisers of a project to create a series of new woods to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee
hope to plant one million trees during February.
The Woodland Trust said next month marked the 60th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the
throne.
Morning all,
let's start with early team news ahead of Sunday's game against United and there's nothing good
regarding Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard will miss the game, Arsene says he has 'no chance' of playing
and the earliest we'll be seeing him is against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
Clearly that's a big blow.
The dream always starts the same. I'm riding in a car through the heartland, and somewhere west
of Kansas City we arrive at a giant mountain which requires us to go through a tunnel. On the other
end of the tunnel is a wasteland - a charred, blackened landscape with no clouds or animals, and
plenty of shattered trees.
You'll notice that the sports updates on here have been few and far between...haven't been making
it to the match much recently for one reason or another and to be honest there's just nothing to
inspire a post. The premiership in general is pretty dull and Everton are as uninspiring as they've
been in ages.
On the details of the case itself, we will have to see the full details of the FA's
investigation before passing any comment. We can, however, say with a degree of certainty that the
reaction was as hysterical as might have been predicted and that oil has been
poured onto an already raging fire by an official club statement from Liverpool Football Club
itself which the club may yet come to repent at leisure.
Former LA Galaxy and USMNT midfielder Kyle Martino may have had the purest of intentions when he
posted this on Twitter, but we aren't going to apologise for jumping in, nicking his idea and
exploiting it for all it's worth.
For those who can't be bothered to click the link, Kyle tweeted the following challenge last
night:
"One player from each position (GK, Defender, Midfielder, Forward) under the tree this year, who
is it?

Brrr, seems like yesterday wasn't just a one off. Cold again this morning as we head into the
Interlull. My weather widget is not exactly a welcome sight, I have to say. Still, not much we can
do about it. Other than move house and Mrs Blogs is not keen on the equator. Oh well.
So now we face a two week gap with no real football, which is pretty frustrating.
If there was one word that summed up everything about Arsenal at the moment it would be
frustration. The manager is frustrated, the fans are frustrated, the captain is too and that showed
in his post-game interview following Blackburn.
Pulling no punches, van Persie said:
It just frustrates me, and it is happening too often.

Thanks to MC's goal scoring and karate specialties, his squad defeated LA Galaxy last night 1-0.
Cheers to @KerryBakes for the tip.
Who really knows the answer to our headline riddle, but in the above demonstration we learn that
Portland Timbers' no.
This was taken at about 12:20 a couple of days ago. Between the trees is a man, some kind of
personal trainer, and a woman, wearing boxing gloves. She has presumably paid god knows what for
the privilege of hitting him (he has his own gloves designed to absorb her punches) for half an
hour, in front of half of London too (the park gets very busy).
Ladies of Seattle, do you fancy a bit of futbol-financed flesh in your life? If so may I suggest
you visit DateASounder.com. There you will find video dating profiles for Puget Sound's most
eligible, soccer-capable bachelors like Roger (pictured above) who hails from "Portland but not
that Portland" and lists his hobbies as "chopping down trees".

As things turned out, the points deduction didn't make any difference. Arlesey Town won by a
single goal at Hitchin Town in the Zamaretto League Central Division on Monday afternoon and, such
is the way of things at the end of the season, Hitchin are back in action this evening in the
semi-finals of the play-offs against Slough Town.
It was a change of scenery for the U.S. U-20 MNT today as the group that played most of last
night's game went through a regeneration session and the reserves played some small-sided games at
a local school pretty close to the hotel. The campus of the school was beautiful - very serene, and
there was a regular-sized field and a small field tucked at the bottom of a hill, surrounded by
trees and mountains.
Michael Emenalo our assistant first team coach has spoken of Frank Lampard and has admitted that we
badly missed him when he was injured and that with him back fit and playing in the side, he can be
"devastating" for us during the run in to the end of the season.
He said:
"When Frank Lampard was injured we said he needed to take his time to come back because
he's such an important player for us.
