The year 2011 was a good one for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The Traffic Sports owned team which
originally started out as Miami FC in 2006 rebranded last year as the born again Strikers with a
new logo and uniforms to boot. Traffic pushed more money towards the organization than it ever had

We were looking forward to dusting off our radical feminist costumes and having a good old bitch
when we found out that Brazilian side Brasiliense FC had been pushing soft porn on their club
website in a bid to boost site traffic.
U.S. Under-23 national team defender Gale Agbossoumonde has endured a rough road in his quest
for regular playing time since turning pro two years ago. With a recent stint at Eintracht
Frankfurt failing to deliver him playing time, Agbossoumonde looked poised for a move to Major
League Soccer.
Welcome back, Andrew Bynum. The center for the Los Angeles Lakers took a break from racking up
traffic tickets and got back to playing basketball. In his first game back from suspension, Andrew
Bynum was dominant scoring 29 points, pulling down 13 rebounds and blocking two shots.
With Andrew Bynum powerful in the middle, the Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets by a final score of
92-89.
After a week of vacation, I returned to my post here at the MLS Offside to find absolutely
terrible news: MLS Rumors has closed. This website needed no introduction: MLS-Rumors.net was, bar
none, the spiciest, edgiest, and, often, most accurate source for anything pertaining to Major
League Soccer.
Alex Morgan's new profile picture is going to stop traffic on Twitter.
I think that was the best Arsenal have played this season. Wigan got some joy in the opening
10-15 minutes but it was one-way traffic after that. The hosts also showed more of a fight in the
second half but Arsenal were just too strong in all areas. I don't want to do a event by event
analysis of such a game but want to use Wenger's post game interview as the foundation for this
piece as the Boss' summary was sublimely succinct and accurate.
It is that time of the year to start speculating on exactly what the Portland Timbers' roster
needs are for the next year. For starters we need to take a look at the most used formations by
John Spencer and the Timbers and then fill in what the Timbers still have on the roster.
Formation(s):
The Timbers employed a 4-4-2 for almost the first half of the season.
We're a fan of Deadspin. Really, name a sports fan who isn't. With that in mind, it's certainly
notable that Deadspin Editor-in-Chief has been promoted to the Editor-in-Chief of all of Gawker. To
replace AJ Daulerio on Deadspin, the company pegged Tommy Craggs.
AJ Daulerio has pushed Deadspin into being arguably the largest and most important sports blog
in the world.
Congrats to the Los Angeles Galaxy for claiming MLS Cup glory last night.
What I particularly like about Sunday's soggy outcome is this: For now, at least, we can put
away a lot of arguments about how Major League Soccer works. As I said in our SI.com live chat last
night:
LA Galaxy was the best team in Major League Soccer wire to wire.
Forwards are meant to score. Sometimes it is that simple. Sure there's so much other stuff that
they can do, but in the end they are the scorers. In order for top forwards to accomplish this goal
they need space to receive the ball and then space enough to shoot it effectively. In these parts
we've called that part of the game tactical awareness.
Traffic merging on your head Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli sported a tyre-track hairdo
last season. And it got out of control. The Italian has decided to calm it down with a roadsign cut
this season. It was either that or a speed bump haircut.
Ryan Giggs and Wife Stacey accidentally? bumped into one of the Manchester United wingers

A story involving Traffic Sports' loss of TV contract was reported last July that went largely
unnoticed. That story may have already had consequences with the Traffic Sports Group out of
Brazil. Traffic is the benefactor that supports three of the eight teams in the North American
Soccer League (NASL).

The first half was pretty much one way traffic but second half substitutions from Mick McCarthy
allowed Wolves to get back into the game with a goal from Steven Fletcher. Liverpool opened the
scoring with a little dash of magic from lady luck.

While dredging up more data points for yesterday's post on MLSsoccer.com's latest round of web
stats, I came across this:
What you see is a Quantcast chart for the "MLS ad network," with stats from around May 2009 to
present. Given the drop in traffic that happened around the launch of MLSsoccer.
Fred Dreier was nice enough to quote me in the Sports Business Journal a couple weeks ago in
regards to the latest viewer stats for MLSsoccer.com, which guarantees a link back. First, the MLS
spin:
For the month of July, which is traditionally the busiest month for MLSsoccer.com, the
website recorded just over 3 million unique visitors, its highest total ever and a 30 percent jump
from July 2010.
The full roster of players has now arrived in Belgium. All 20 players trained this morning but not
before a late dash to the field by Kyle Beckerman! Kyle arrived on the overnight flight and went
straight from the airport to the training pitch. A set of gear was waiting for him, and once he dug
his boots out of his suitcase he was good to go.
It's not my fault if they taste like tofu... I have finally filed a proper report on Gale
Agbossoumonde's trial with FC Cologne II. He's already been there three weeks, they are not exactly
in any hurry to wave him goodbye and I'm told he has done well there. So far, everyone I've talked
to on this says an offer has yet to be made.
After leaving Traffic Sports earlier this summer, former US U-20 left back Gregory Garza is now on
trial at Norwegian club Valerenga who currently play in Norway's top division, the Tippeligaen
We're Looking for a New Contributing Editor!
Stumptown Footy is now actively looking for a new contributing editor to help us patch some of
the editorial holes that Ryan and I just can't seem to get to on a weekly basis (jobs and social
lives... damn you for taking up so much time!).
Essentially what we need is for somebody to do at least one training report each week, meaning
you'd get to go to the training sessions and interview John Spencer and the players.
Avoid match traffic and pay less

This season has been frustrating for us all, but the past weeks have been rough on us all. Before I
get to my rant, Ill give the comatose striker fans a brief overview:
LAST FOUR GAMES:
Tampa 4-2 Strikers
Atlanta 3-2 Strikers
Montreal 1-1 Strikers
Islanders 3-1 Strikers
In recent weeks, We've dropped TOO MANY GAMES.

In just a few short weeks, United States international centerback Gale Agbossoumonde will have
to go back to the drawing board.
Agbossoumonde's option will not be picked up by his Swedish club Djurgardens IF when his loan
expires, the team announced on its website.
Nigeria made a quick exit from the Women's World Cup falling to Simone Laudehr's 64th minute toe
poke through traffic. The defending champions had numerous chances but were unsettled by the
physical Super Falcons. However, Germany kept their composure and in the second half Celia Okoyino
Da Mbabi's free kick (she's half Nigerian) led to a goalmouth fracas ending in Laudehr's
strike.
One should NEVER co-sign on an article they haven't read. So I won't co-sign on this article in
Grantland from Carles of Hipster Runoff fame...but maybe read it anyway. Not because it's Carles
and his sh*ts always bratty and funny but because maybe if a soccer piece gets good traffic on
Grantland they might actually feature it from time to time.
I slept in, because I was at the Gold Cup final, so I've already missed the host country's opening
goal.
It was a header, though, by Kristen Garefrekes in the 10th minute. Germany leads, 1-0
19 - Matheson with an outside try at the equalizer. Deflected for a corner, which is cleared.
3:10 p.m. Well, ok, we're not actually at the Rose Bowl yet. Luis and I decided to be environmental
and carpool to the game and at this moment, we're stuck in the traffic leading to the stadium
parking lots. People are walking past us at a steady clip, going faster than the molasses pace of
the crowded cars.
The US National Team were able to book a place in their 4th straight CONCACAF Gold Cup final thanks
to a 1-0 win over Panama in Houston. Bob Bradley made the questionable decision of placing Landon
Donovan on the bench once again. Some are saying that this decision paid off as the US got the win,
however I believe that Donovan should have been playing from the start and maybe we would have won
by more.

The Sun-Sentinel.com of Fort Lauderdale posted a short story last night that the FAA has agreed
to a 6-month extension of the lease of Lockhart Stadium to the Broward County School District.
As reported here earlier this month, Strikers president Tim Robbie was confident that a deal
could be struck with the FAA and that the NASL team located in Fort Lauderdale and who use Lockhart
for games and training sessions, would be staying put.

I work in social media, but when I'm hyper-focused on my job I barely tend to my personal
accounts. During these periods, my Facebook wall goes stale, blog traffic falls and Twitter replies
die off.
Not surprisingly, when I update my social networks, they come right back to life.
22 years later, there are still families and survivors coming to terms with the unspeakable tragedy
they've suffered. There are still many who don't understand the actual causes of the disaster, in
part thanks to a major newspaper which continues to traffic in lies. And there are many still
fighting for justice and the truth.
