Ronaldinho has gotten his contract with Flamengo terminated by a Brazilian labor court over
almost $20 million in unpaid wages. He is now free to sign with another club after scoring 29 goals
in 72 matches for Flamengo since singing in January 2011.
From Sambafoot:
The reasons for the termination were four months of unpaid wages, a justification accepted by
the judge.
Fernando Clavijo is on his way back to MLS, in a different role from the ones he has held in the
past.
An assistant coach and head coach in Major League Soccer for the better part of a decade,
Clavijo was hired on Tuesday as FC Dallas' new technical director.
When I sit down to write a blog post that I suspect will annoy most of my faithful readers,
there is always this brief moment of pause, where I ask myself "why bother?"
I pick topics somewhat randomly as it is, so I could simply "pass" on audience-angering topics.
Heck, I already pick to write about things as they interest me seemingly on a whim and have never
felt obligated to cover each and every result, player rumor or team announcement.
U.S. Under-23 national team defender Gale Agbossoumonde has endured a rough road in his quest
for regular playing time since turning pro two years ago. With a recent stint at Eintracht
Frankfurt failing to deliver him playing time, Agbossoumonde looked poised for a move to Major
League Soccer.
After a week of vacation, I returned to my post here at the MLS Offside to find absolutely
terrible news: MLS Rumors has closed. This website needed no introduction: MLS-Rumors.net was, bar
none, the spiciest, edgiest, and, often, most accurate source for anything pertaining to Major
League Soccer.
It's been an overwhelmingly disappointing couple of weeks at Spurs and while the players'
comments after the game at Goodison were positive, it's hard not to feel flat as our gap between
the fourth placed side could be reduced to just one point tonight.
After the game, manager Harry Redknapp was genuinely mystified by the reverse.
I think that was the best Arsenal have played this season. Wigan got some joy in the opening
10-15 minutes but it was one-way traffic after that. The hosts also showed more of a fight in the
second half but Arsenal were just too strong in all areas. I don't want to do a event by event
analysis of such a game but want to use Wenger's post game interview as the foundation for this
piece as the Boss' summary was sublimely succinct and accurate.
The U.S. squandered a first half lead in their second 2014 World Cup qualifier against Guatemala
to continue an unimpressive run of form. Clint Dempsey scored in the 40th minute to give the U.S. a
1-0 lead that they would hold in spite of physical play and dodgy ref decisions all the way up to
the 83rd minute when the Chicago Fire's Marco Pappa pinned a beauty of a free kick to the top of
the net.
Clarification on why tonight's USMNT game is on pay-per-view
"Who owns the rights to World Cup qualifying matches?
The worldwide television rights to each World Cup Qualifying match are initially the property of
the hosting country. The host Federation, who often works with a third-party to commercialize these
television rights, is the rights holder and can distribute the broadcast in various countries at
its sole discretion.
Traffic Sports, the same company that has supports the North American Soccer League, is asking you
to pay more than just your cable bill to watch the US vs. Guatemala, CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier
on June 12th. Traffic who are headquartered in Brazil and have owned TV rights for soccer games in
South and Central [.
The Guatemala - USA World Cup Qualifier on June 12th will only be available on pay-per-view in the
United States. The US Soccer Federation has released a FAQ on the issues surrounding televising an
away Qualifier. Under CONCACAF rules, the home team controls the broadcast rights for World Cup
Qualifiers.
A simple question. What makes you purchase tickets, fight the traffic, spend your expendable
money on Sounders Women games? Is it the excellent product that is out on the field this season?
Did the national's bring you, but the core of the team keep you coming back?
One of the biggest complaints about games at Stafire Sports Complex is that they are a pain to
get to. As someone who has been to his fair share of events there, I understand your complaints.
It's certainly not as accessible as CenturyLink Field, but I also think the problems are a bit
overblown.
Watching games at Starfire is really an experience every Sounders fan should enjoy at least a
few times.
The year 2011 was a good one for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The Traffic Sports owned team which
originally started out as Miami FC in 2006 rebranded last year as the born again Strikers with a
new logo and uniforms to boot. Traffic pushed more money towards the organization than it ever had
in the [.
I guess I could put up a photo to go with this story but that might tip my hand. Suffice it to
say that my choice isn't the same as the early leader. If the boys at O Zone are going to troll for
traffic this way, might as well ensure there is as large a vote as possible.
Poll Question: Who is Ozarks' top boys soccer player?
Fluminense are preparing to cash in on a future sale of right back Wallace. The Rio club are set
to buy the 20% of the player's economic rights that are owned by sports management group,
Traffic. If the deal goes through, Fluminense will own 60% of the 18-year-old. Chelsea
already have 40% of the player's economic rights which were acquired when Deco switched from London
to Rio in 2010.
More of the same. Not really going to review the game because if you saw any league match in July
you saw this game.
My key to the game was the Rapids figuring out how to win. Not yet. Other Observations:
The first Sounders goal we just got beat on. It was a corner kick and Johnson did a good job of
getting his man (Wynne it looks like) caught in traffic so EJ could have a free header.
Manchester United's players dedicated a chant to their coach driver after he smooth-talked his way
out of trouble with Chinese police. United's coach was stopped on a busy road in Shanghai by police
after reportedly using the wrong lane. Officers hauled the driver away for questioning. The coach
was surrounded by fans while the driver [.
Traffic Sports USA marketing executive Enrique Sanz has been named the new general secretary of
CONCACAF. He will officially take over the role later this month. "I am honored to have been
appointed as General Secretary," Sanz said in a press statement. "Although not without challenge, I
foresee a great new era for the confederation.
When we last checked in on RojaDirecta, they had sued the US government for illegally seizing
their US domain without due process of law. I won't get too legalese on you, but there are two
issues: (1) The government taking away the domain, and (2) The government wanting to force Roja to
forfeit the domain for all time.
You may have noticed that SGFsoccer.com has a new look. After 8 years, many of you are probably
used to that experience. The reason? I've decided to simplify the site and make it more mobile
friendly. I'm a bit early to that party in the sense that only 20% of the traffic comes from mobile
devices right now but the website should work real well on both your desktop and your
smartphone.
As you've probably noticed, the blog is seeing some new articles and the traffic has come back
instantly. Thank you so much to the folks the that have waiting for our return. We hope we won't
disappoint you again! We have some new things coming your way in addition to our regular, unique,
articles.
New Mou 'Do It's not quite as severe as the last time he shaved his head, but Jose Mourinho has
opted for another closely cropped hairdo. We're mainly posting this as a public service as a lot of
Google traffic is finding an old Mourinho 'Do Are Ya? post as they frantically search to see [...]

We were looking forward to dusting off our radical feminist costumes and having a good old bitch
when we found out that Brazilian side Brasiliense FC had been pushing soft porn on their club
website in a bid to boost site traffic.
Welcome back, Andrew Bynum. The center for the Los Angeles Lakers took a break from racking up
traffic tickets and got back to playing basketball. In his first game back from suspension, Andrew
Bynum was dominant scoring 29 points, pulling down 13 rebounds and blocking two shots.
With Andrew Bynum powerful in the middle, the Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets by a final score of
92-89.
