You can bet the former Bruin playmaker would like a return to Southern California. But is another
midfielder a priority for the Galaxy? Read more here.
11:23am: Now is the time to float any and all wacky trade rumors. It's almost expected that at
least one MLS veteran will move clubs out of nowhere. 11:20am: How likely is it that Toronto
remains the only team with two first round picks? Highly unlikely. 11:06am: Rumors abound that
Montreal is trying to entice Houston to part with Andre Hainault in exchange for the quick return
of Brian Ching and Montreal's #1 pick.
Overall a pretty quiet holiday weekend in the world of American soccer. We'll start in Philly,
where the Union have hooked up with a local confectioner to add a new sponsor to the team's list of
brands. Goldendberg Candy Company, the maker of Goldenberg's Peanut Chews will have signage and
other brand opportunities at PPL Park.
With the NBA back in business, trade rumors are flowing. One of the most interesting trade
rumors is between the Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Hornets. The trade rumor has Rajon Rondo
being traded in a package for Chris Paul.
Chris Paul is obviously a much better player than Rajon Rondo, so why is this trade even a
possibility?

down (AP Photo).
Those David Beckham to Paris Saint-Germain reports are gathering steam.
*With 12 days top go until MLS Cup 2011 in Carson, the trophy arrives in Southern California at
11 a.m. today at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier with a police escort accompanied by former
Galaxy players Alexi Lalas and Mauricio Cienfuegos in a VW convertible.
*Meanwhile, Dynamo fans have gobbled up their allotment of tickets for a game the club insists
it can win without star player Brad Davis - just as it has won big games without big names in the
past.
*You know what they say about Paris in the spring, but what about fall in France?:
CHICAGO (AP) -- The U.S. soccer team will play an exhibition at France on Nov. 11, the
first meeting between the nations in 32 years.
The game was announced today and will be played at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, outside
Paris, the site of the 1998 World Cup final.
Of course, nothing will be decided until the end of the MLS season, so this may not be the last
rumors we'll hear surrounding Galaxy midfielder David Beckham.
Personally, I'd be less surprised to see beckham end up as a part-owner of the Cosmos than a
coach at a second tier club in England.
Kevin Kolb of the Philadelphia Eagles has been in trade rumors ever since Michael Vick stole his
starting quarterback job. Finally, on Thursday the Eagles traded Kevin Kolb to the Arizona
Cardinals. In return, Philadelphia will receive Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a future 2nd round
selection.
With the Cardinals, Kevin Kolb will become the starting quarterback.
MLS Bound: Would you like to see Nicolas Anelka suit up for the Galaxy? See story below (AP

*The massive, renewed interest in the U.S. Women's National team has prompted ESPN Radio to air
Sunday's World Cup final between the U.S. and Japan.
It's the first time ESPN Radio has ever aired a Women's World Cup game.
*MLS confirmed this morning that the much-discussed Real Madrid-Chivas friendly at Qualcomm
Stadium is a go with the date set for Wednesday, July 20 as expected. That gives Southern
California fans two chances to see Cristiano Ronaldo et al; the Galaxy play in a
previously-announced game against the Spanish powerhouse July 16 at the Coliseum.

Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall has been stellar more often that not during his first season as a
starter, but after the Dynamo's 2-1 loss to Colorado on Wednesday, he didn't hesitate to hold
himself responsible for result.
Thankfully, the NBA trade deadline is this coming Thursday. At that point, we can finally be
done with the drama surrounding Carmelo Anthony. It seems like the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors
change every hour. Carmelo is going to the Lakers! Carmelo is going to the Knicks! Carmelo is going
to the Nets!
The Los Angeles Lakers have a way of making the Boston Celtics feeling empty as of late. Last
year in the NBA Finals, the Lakers beat the Celtics to win another NBA championship. On Thursday,
the Lakers ruined Ray Allen's night by beating Boston by a final score of 92-86.
Early in the game, Ray Allen passed Reggie Miller (video) to become the all-time leader in made
three-pointers in the history of the NBA.
Carmelo Anthony wants to go to a big market. The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in making a
trade in an attempt to spark their sputtering squad. It sounds like a match, doesn't it? And now,
according to multiple online reports, there is a possibility that Carmelo Anthony gets traded to
the Lakers in a trade that involves Andrew Bynum, L.
The New Jersey Nets have stopped trying to trade for Carmelo Anthony. On Monday, the Nets proved
they don't need Carmelo Anthony to win games, as New Jersey topped the Denver Nuggets by a final
score of 115-99. Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 37 points but it wasn't against a motivated
Nets squad.
Last year, the Seattle Mariners inked Chone Figgins to a big contract. In his first season with
the Mariners, Figgins was mostly a disappointment. Recently, there has been talks about Figgins
being traded from the Mariners with the Oakland A's being the main destination mentioned. Could
there be some truth to the Chone Figgins trade rumors?
OJ Mayo has had a difficult season with the Memphis Grizzlies. He has lost his starting job and
has seen his name appear in countless trade rumors. Now, OJ Mayo has made things even more
difficult for himself. The Grizzlies guard tested positive for DHEA, a steroid precursor, and has
been suspended ten games by the NBA.
The boy from Brazil is out of Italy: Ronaldinho is heading home, he announced today at a
news conference (AP Photo).
*Sounds like the Galaxy's interest in Ronaldinho is pretty much done at least for the forseeable
future:
SAO PAULO (AP) -- Ronaldinho reached an agreement with AC Milan on Thursday to end his
contract, clearing the way to return to Brazil soccer.
David Beckham: yadda yadda EPL loan yadda yadda (AP Photo).
I will mark a dozen years of employment at the Daily Breeze Monday by taking the day off so
there will be no column Tuesday.
*I'll leave you with the usual blather out of England that include reports Newcastle United want
David Beckham on loan.
