This year seemed to have an unusually high and disturbing number of incidents of fans throwing firecrackers at players during matches and as 2012 draws to a close, those incidents continue. During Sunday's 0-0 draw between Trabzonspor and Galatasaray, the home fans threw an object (perhaps a water bottle?
In amongst the relentless stories over the manager which naturally dominate the headlines, it's
refreshing to see a bit of transfer talk even if it seems an unlikely one. Burak Yilmaz is the name
of the latest link and while his record stems entirely from Turkish football, it is an impressive
record nevertheless.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is considering a January bid for Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz, according to talkSPORT. The Galatasaray forward was reportedly a target for West Ham and Tottenham while playing for Trabzonspor last season, but instead opted to stay in Turkey with Galatasaray. The 27-year-old hit 33 goals for Trabzonspor last year, and already has five goals in his first six league appearances this campaign.
Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with prolific Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz.
The Reds are in pursuit of a proven goalscorer this summer. Liverpool only scored 47 times in the
Premier League last season, the lowest scoring team in the top eight. €41 million signing, Andy
Caroll only scored four goals in the league campaign.

Super League was made today in İstanbul. According to Super Final format, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and

The Ivory Coast won their first match of the 2012 African Cup of Nations today, a 1-0 defeat of
Sudan with Didier Drogba scoring the lone goal.
Curious as to their current FIFA ranking and who else might likely put up a fight against the
Elephants, I looked it up. Learning that they rank 18th internationally didn't surprise, but the
fact that only 5 other African countries make up the top 50 did.

TweetDidier Zokora committed perhaps the most horrendous, brutal foul in his career after whacking
Emre in the balls during a match between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce! So why did he do it? Well,
according to Zokora, Emre had racially abused him and his lash out was a reaction to the racial
provocation by Emre.
Fenerbahce's Emre was given a two-match ban for aiming a racial slur at Trabzonspor's Didier
Zokora during a match in April, but Zokora apparently did not feel this was punishment enough.
When the two sides met once again on Sunday, Zokora first refused to shake Emre's hand by
holding his own hand behind his back to make his intentions clear.
You might recall that last month's clash between Turkish sides Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce saw an
ugly racist incident involving former Premier League stars Didier Zokora and Emre. Former Newcastle
midfielder Emre admitted the incident in which he reportedly called the former Spurs man a "dirty
n***er".
The Turkish Super Lig finds itself in more controversy after claims of racial abuse against
former Tottenham defender Didier Zokora emerged recently. The incident between Fenerbahces' Emre
and Trabzonspor's Didier Zokora that occurred more than a week ago could not have happened at a
worse time for Fenerbahce.
