An Egyptian TV station managed an interview with Bob Bradley in the aftermath of yesterday's
horrible tragedy at Al-Masry. As you can see above, he and his wife took part in a march against
such things today - you certainly have got to admire the toughness of that clan.First though, I
just have one thing to ask.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is extremely impressed with Swansea City's home record and suggests
that the toughness of the Welsh outfit at Liberty Stadium should ensure survival in the Barclays
Premier League.
Following last night's 1-1 draw with the Blues, the Swans are now nine points clear of the
relegation zone with a little over a third of the season left to go.
The Milwaukee Bucks were missing two of their better players on Saturday when hosting the Los
Angeles Lakers. Despite being shorthanded, the Bucks handed the Lakers another road loss by a final
score of 100-89.
Andrew Bogut will miss up to the next three months with a broken ankle. Stephen Jackson was
suspended due to a confrontation with a ref.
The thing with Mark Hughes is that we don't really know why he left Fulham. There were various
comments after the event mentioning a lack of ambition, which loosely translated seemed to mean
"Fulham wouldn't pony up £15m for Pablo Osvaldo". Hughes had a 'get out' day in his contract and
(out of nowhere, it seemed) used that clause to escape SW6.

I had the chance to visit with a high school basketball team yesterday, and in their pre-practice
meeting, they were referring to an article that I had also once written about a couple of years
back. The article had to do with
toughness, which ESPN's Jay Bilas has a
pretty good reference point about.
Steven Gerrard in shock drug use confession!
Steven Gerrard's legendary toughness may see him return to Liverpool duty over the festive
period, well ahead of schedule after his ankle operation. Yet perhaps the Liverpool skipper isn't
quite as hard as we all think. Discussing the birth of his children, Stevie G said: "I had a go on
the gas and air when Lilly was born because it was such a shock – it's good!

Four schools remain in this year's NCAA men's soccer tournament. The College Cup has three
schools that most expected to be here and one that no one saw coming. The tournament's top two
seeds remain in UNC and Creighton while pre-season favorite UCLA the 13th seed and unseeded UNC
Charlotte hope to spoil the fun.

Editor's note: At the end of the 2010 season, we posted a series of season reviews of every
Philadelphia Union player. Over the next several weeks PSP continues with a review of the 2011
season.
In the Philadelphia Union's signature win of 2011, a 1-0 home victory over the New York Red
Bulls, praise was deservedly lavished on the two second half substitutes who combined for the
winning tally.
December looks to be an extremely important month in the Premier League, with several massive
matches that could shape the outlook of the title race heading into the new year and the second
half of the season.
There aren't any of those such matches this weekend, but a few surprises could be in store, with
some top sides facing tricky away ties.
Down we go to BMO Field for season closer number 5. It qualifies, before the first ball is kicked,
as bittersweet. The win in Dallas on Tuesday night puts TFC past the group stage of the Champion's
League for the first time next spring. They showed that the team can rise to the occasion and win a
big game on the road has to be sweetest point of the year.
Via a really well written Jason Quick piece. I wish he would write Timbers more often. In
addition to this stuff, there's some quality stuff on Paulson himself. Great article. Juicy
article.
There has been some fairly scary (to me, anyway) financial talk in the past, but Paulson sounds
really ambitious in this article:
"We are already looking at three to four guys who will be big, big additions in this
offseason.

"You never know what's going to happen, but I think that it's a bit late for us," Chivas forward
Juan Pablo Ángel said. "The only thing that we can do is control what we do on the field."
If you thought the Union were treating the rest of the season like it's win-or-go-home, Chivas
will show you what it really looks like.
It is always sad when a World Cup ends. No more matches at all hours of the day, no more
constant media coverage, no more excitement with new heros daily emerging from obscurity. This
year's 2011 Women's World Cup was as entertaining an affair as we have seen from this (or any other
tournament) in quite some time.
Faryd Mondragon was the only Union player selected to the MLS All-Star roster. Sigh.
The Farfans are playing doubles tennis. I will not write a more exciting sentence all day.
A brilliant Shawn Wright-Phillips goal lifted Man City over Vancouver last night. Yaya Toure
went off injured but appears to be alright.
Jordan Harvey will add some toughness to the Whitecaps backline. (Getty Images)
This could very well be one of the oddest trades I've seen. The Philadelphia Union have traded
defender Jordan Harvey to the Vancouver Whitecaps for allocation money.
Harvey had been a key player for the Union, making 16 starts for a defense that had yielded the
second fewest goals in the league.
The Philadelphia Union has allowed an Eastern Conference-low 16 goals, and while the team is
hoping to continue that defensive toughness during the second half of the season, it will have to
do so without Jordan Harvey.
The Union traded Harvey to the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for allocation money on
Thursday.
The United States opened their 2011 Gold Cup campaign with a 2-0 Group C win over Canada at
Detroit's Ford Field in front of 28,209 fans. A 15th minute goal from Jozy Altidore opened the
scoring with Landon Donovan picking up the assist. Clint Dempsey made it 2-0 USA in the 62nd
minute, with Altidore assisting.
It is disappointing that the Union did not beat the Rapids. At the start of this season I never
thought I would be anything less than pleased to see the Union picking up a point at Colorado. So
there is a silver lining to this disappointment. It means this team is capable of still more.
It is hard to ask for more from the Union's back four though.
Drury women's soccer coach Alf Bilbao has announced the completion of a five-member recruiting
class for the 2011-12 season including three Springfield prep standouts for the Panthers.
Joining the DU program this fall are:
Emily Cline, Glendale Falcons (2011)
Emily Cline – Forward from Springfield's Glendale High School who plans to play
both soccer and basketball at Drury.
High Ladder To Climb is a feature for the Brotherly Game. Current
Atlanta Silverbacks (NASL) defender Tyler Ruthven gives readers insight into the life of a player
in America's lower tier leagues. His updates will be about his continued quest to make it to MLS.
Follow him as he details his day-to-day trials and tribulations based on the life he is able to

A tie at the end of a stretch of three games in eight days, on the road against a team riding a
six-match unbeaten streak and doing it without several starters available isn't the worst result in
the world, but it was hardly confidence inspiring either. Give the Seattle Sounders credit for
pulling out a point, though, as they definitely looked like a tired bunch by the time the final
whistle blew in their 1-1 tie against the Columbus Crew.
The Tennessee basketball program has moved on quickly after firing Bruce Pearl. Less than a week
later, Tennessee has hired Cuonzo Martin. Prior to taking the Tennessee head coaching gig, Cuonzo
Martin was the head coach at Missouri State. This year, Missouri State went 26-9 and Cuonzo Martin
was named the coach of the year in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Liverpool had one busy day amongst the dying embers of January's transfer window. Kop (probably not
so much anymore) legend Fernando Torres packed up and flew south to join Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea
for a massive £50m, whilst Newcastle's Andy Carroll made the trip to Merseyside along with Ajax's
Luis Suarez, installing an Anfield revolution within the attacking third of Kenny Dalglish's
transformed squad.
Hello one and all! I'm Dizzo and you may remember me from my extensively long look at the recent
drafts. I had plenty of write-ups on candidates although I missed many of the Sounders selections.
It just goes to show I have a long way to go before I get an invite from the Sounders front office
to do scouting.
The best part of post-draft analysis is that everyone's opinion may be right. Hometown fans are
usually very optimistic and begin that glimmer of hope that this coming season might bring them a
championship.
Since nobody can prove my opinions wrong (yet), here is my take on the "super" winners , losers and
highlights of the day.
