"Think, Torres has been very unlucky since he joined to Chelsea, and I hope that the Chelsea fans
don't lose patience over him. I like this player, and this comp about him. Hope you'll like."

Following on from my post that caused a stir (10,000 views alone) last week about Fernando Torres
(
Check it out if you haven't already here), here is a breakdown of his performance against
Manchester United.
Have a watch and give your view on how you think he did. If only he hit that ball first time after
heading it into his path inside the box in the second half!
Since signing for Chelsea in a £50million deal over a year ago, former Liverpool striker Fernando
Torres has mustered up a paltry three premier league goals. Clearly, he's still struggling to make
the grade at Stamford Bridge, which is mystifying considering his undeniable talent and quality.
When Arsenal collapse in comical style, such as from 4-0 up to draw 4-4 with Newcastle last
season, or conceding a goal seconds after equalising in the 3-2 defeat to Swansea, it feels
fashionable to say "only Arsenal could have lost a game like that".
And there's something to it, to be fair, our defence has generally been the worst in the top
four over the years, and we have a poor record in points lost from winning positions.
Over the weekend, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish publicly praised returning striker Luis Suarez,
gushing that he is 'loved and revered' at Anfield. Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher aside, the
last non-Liverpudlian player to receive such acclaim and adulation was (arguably) Fernando Torres,
but legend Alan Hansen believes that Suarez has now eclipsed the Spaniard's popularity.
Historically, battles for bridges have often defined the context and eventual outcomes of war.
Severing the connectivity between two groups of the opposing army, or preventing further advances
over an otherwise insurmountable barrier usually seemed like a good way to gain an advantage for
the longer term.
Last night Fernando Torres appeared on Chelsea TV's "Friday Night Live" programme where he answered
questions from the fans. Chelsea have kindly uploaded some of the interview to their official
channel on YouTube which I will feature for you here.
Torres was asked about how we is settling in at Chelsea and his relation ship with the fans
below:
In the full interview featured on the official website, Torres said:
'Since I joined Chelsea it has been amazing.
Fernando Torres has been the focus of press and media attention ever since he signed for Chelsea.
He scored 81 goals in just 142 games for Liverpool and everyone expected more of the same here but
it hasn't happened. Everyone is asking questions, people are beginning to turn and doubt Torres but
I am posting this because I for one believe in Torres.
AVB has responded today to claims made earlier in the week from Carlo Ancelotti that in order for
Fernando Torres to step out of the shadows, Didier Drogba must be sold.
Let's just remind you of one thing, Villas-Boas very rarely likes to speak of individuals in
relation to performances, he always focuses on the team.
I. Manchester United @ Arsenal: This is just amazing. Arsenal looking for revenge after a
humiliating, fluke, 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford earlier in the season. Manchester City are at home
against Tottenham in a superb Top-4 clash, but Sir ... Continue reading →
I read a comment made by Carlo Ancelotti yesterday about possible transfer targets and when
Fernando Torres' name came up I immediately thought bollocks!. I thought straight away that the
press would make his comments out to be something that they aren't and when I woke up this morning
I was proved right.
Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola featured on Skysports' Goals on Sunday programme yesterday after
sitting in the stands for Chelsea v Sunderland at the Bridge. He was asked for his opinion with the
situation with Fernando Torres and his lack of goals at Chelsea. Zola was impressed with Torres but
felt that he finds himself out of position far too often and it's costing him.
After watching Fernando Torres' performance yesterday for Chelsea I thought to myself "He's had a
good game today". Then I saw the report of Ex-Liverpool Phil Thompson on Skysports "Soccer
Saturday" and couldn't believe what I was reading!. Thompson is quoted soon after the game
saying:
"He's not anywhere near.
Andy Carroll signed for Liverpool one year ago today, and it's fair to say that the big man has
still not settled in at Anfield. The question is, will he ever do the business for Liverpool? Stan
Collymore doesn't think so, and believes that the best way forward would be for Carroll to return
to Newcastle.
It's tough being Nando Torres, but it can't be tough sitting on that cold, cold bench now can
it? Now fetch us some Nandos, if you will! / by Gettyimages via Daylife

Fernando Torres doesn't often speak to the media but when he does we sit up and take notice. If you
are a Chelsea fan reading this blog post, you will know that Torres hasn't started a game for
Chelsea in weeks now and it must be frustrating.
Torres's future at our club was called into question last week with reports that he would be
sold for £20m in January which was denied by AVB stating that
he is not for sale!
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres left Liverpool in acrimonious circumstances in January, and since
then, the anger towards him seems to have grown exponentially. A month ago, Torres stated that
Liverpool's fans didn't know the 'real story' behind why he left Anfield, but now, El Nino has
finally revealed the truth about his departure.
I really am beginning to wonder about Fernando Torres now. The game on Saturday night was a blatant
example of the fact to me anyway that there seems to be "issues" between AVB and our Spanish
striker.
I stand by my match report and everything I said there. Why on earth we go 1-0 up, see that
Drogba is not having his best game and keep him on the pitch, ask Torres to warm up and then not
even use him is beyond me!
Just like I said yesterday, AVB has come out and rejected claims made by the media the other night
that
Chelsea were prepared to listen to offers of around £20m for Fernando Torres.
He said:
"It's not true, he is not available at any price.
Everybody wants to be involved all the time but Fernando is pushing for a place with Didier
Drogba.
Last night news broke that Chelsea will be willing to listen for offers of around £20m for
Fernando Torres in January as long as someone can match his reported £150K per week wages. The
story continued that Chelsea had already put the feelers out around Europe amongst the elite to see
if anyone wanted to take him.
John Barnes recently argued that Liverpool fans should 'move on' and stop wasting 'negative energy'
on Fernando Torres, but despite the acrimony towards the Spaniard, there are still lots of fans -
myself included - who would love to see El Nino back at Anfield. LFC Legends Ray Houghton and Gary
Gillespie are not so sure though.
In a sport where players are increasingly deified, Fernando Torres was a God-like figure at
Liverpool; the fans worshipped the ground he walked on, and in the eyes of his fawning disciples,
he could no wrong. That all changed when El Nino left for Chelsea - he instantly became a traitor;
an Anfield Judas, worthy of nothing but contempt and ridicule.
As usual after a defeat and lack of Chelsea goals, you can imagine reports, headlines and comments
that people are making about Fernando Torres and it's doing my head in, it really is. Even Chelsea
fans are having a pop and stating that he is "dried up" and not the player he used to be.
You see, he hasn't been the player he used to be because he is constantly having to drop deeper and
deeper to get the ball because he isn't getting the service he needs.
Sebastian Coates will be hoping to play some part in tonight's Carling Cup quarter-final against
Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where he could come up against former Liverpool striker Fernando
Torres. The Uruguayan defender has, however, dismissed suggestions that he will have to pay extra
attention to El Nino during the game.
It's a simple question with a complicated answer. For me, Chelsea's best eleven has Fernando Torres
starting in it, up front through the middle. So how is it a complicated answer for tonight?.
Well, think about it. AVB has favoured the approach of playing people who remain fresh in games up
until the Wolves game last weekend.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why Fernando Torres has only played eight minutes of first
team football in the last two games. You could understand Didier Drogba starting the game against
Liverpool if he was playing well, on form and scoring goals. This was his first game back!.
I guess AVB wanted to use the a different physical approach with using Drogba there to rough up the
Liverpool defenders but it never happened.
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres undoubtedly played the best football of his career under former
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, and he was never the same after Benitez left Anfield. Torres is now
a shadow of the player he was at Liverpool, and things don't look like changing any time soon.
The questions remain about Fernando Torres. Until he gets on a run those questions will continue. I
honestly believe that Fernando Torres will soon prove all the doubters wrong.
Will he start today and will he score? I think he will and am hoping he puts in his biggest
performance in a Chelsea shirt so far this afternoon!
I am asking the question based on the article that has been featured in The Sun. The same question
was put to AVB in his press conference ahead of tomorrow's clash with Liverpool. AVB responded by
saying:
"Is he still worth that money? Would I pay £50m for him? Of course I
would.
Liverpool did the league double over Chelsea last season and Lucas Leiva was an integral part of
the midfield machine that did a great job of helping the back four keep two clean sheets. Lucas is
relishing the prospect of facing former players Raul Meireles and Fernando Torres at Stamford
Bridge on Sunday, but he's acutely aware of the threat that they pose.

One thing you have to agree about Fernando Torres, he has never hidden away from his struggles he
had at Chelsea last season. When questioned about it at the time, he answered every single question
about his form and the doubters time and time again.
This season we have seen a very different Fernando Torres.
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres left Anfield under a cloud of bitter fan resentment in January, and
since then, the anger and acrimony towards him seems to have grown exponentially. You would think
that El Nino would be the last person Liverpool fans would want to see back at the club, but it
seems that the same fans who burned Torres' shirt would love to see him back at the club.
After today's hugely disappointing draw at home to Swansea, especially Andy Carroll's miss(at least
he hit the crossbar), console yourselves a bit by seeing ex-red Torres sky a similar chance way
into the stand.

I am surprised that AVB has said that he believes the arrival of Juan Mata has had nothing to do
with the return to form of Fernando Torres. When he was asked about it he said the following:
"[It has] Nothing to do with it, in my opinion. We don't add in terms of nationalities
for every player, for people to get involved socially outside of the pitch.
Ah, would you just look at THAT! If it isn't Chelsea's resident Spaniards in
Valencia wearing Los Che's traditional colours,
Orange! You can't get any cheesier than that in a strangely endearing way, of
course. Anyway, Juan Mata is all set to face his former side tonight when Valencia
host Chelsea at the Mestalla.
We do not hear from Fernando Torres that often, or should I say we haven't much since he arrived
here. However, after scoring and then getting sent off against Swansea, he took the chance to speak
to Chelsea TV about his goal, the sending off and the support he continues to receive from the
Chelsea fans even when things haven't been going well.
