Dave Kitson of Stoke City has become the second striker to join Middlesbrough on loan since the
appointment of Gordon Strachan. It is hoped that Kitson will provide additional competition for
places up front, following the recent arrival of Marcus Bent on loan, and will be reunited at the
Riverside with his former Reading strike partner Leroy Lita.

This fairy tale story had to come to and end at some point and it did on Sunday night when
Nigeria's golden eaglets were humbled 1-0 by Switzerland in Abuja.
Nigeria who were looking to emulate their west African counterparts Ghana who won the U-20 World
Cup in Egypt in October however had to taste the bitter pill of defeat in their own home
stadium.

Arsène Wenger called him a cross between Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp the other week. And
that's quite something. Henry was top scorer in the Premier League for 4 seasons and the regarded
as the best foreign player ever in the EPL. Dennis Bergkamp was God. If a coach says

Fairly good week for goals, as only one game finished 0-0 (Catania-Napoli, but ask Takayuki
Morimoto about that). The top scorer table is still wide open, as Di Natale started strong but now
has cooled off so he remains at 9, while Hamsik is second with 7 and that's impressive for a
midfielder.

by JAMES CURTIS With 10 minutes left on the clock and Arsenal 4-0 up at Molineux, a friend asked
me who I thought was man of the match? Arsenal were scoring at will once again so you'd think it
would be easy to pick a star man.
There were plenty of rewarding individual performances.

"He picked me again." "Should have picked me though." "Idiot."
So here it is, I'm
putting myself out on the line. More vulnerable than ever. Almost 12 weeks down, 26 to go. While we
still have 70% of the Premier League season remaining, I'm in the midst of my worst "Captaining"
stretch in 5 years, and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar misfortune or has in
the past?

Defender Glen Johnson may be struggling to be fit for Liverpool's home clash with Birmingham on
Monday but he is convinced he is part of a squad good enough to turn around recent disastrous
form.
The England man is still a major doubt with a calf injury that kept him out of the midweek
Champions League draw in Lyon, and he is not expected to be fit to face the midlanders.

Adriano has been doing really well since returning to Brazil and getting his head back together.
So well, in fact, that people are even using his image on their products. Unfortunately, those
products are drugs.
From the Corriere dello Sport:
Now that Adriano is back in Rio de Janeiro and is the top scorer in the Brazilian championship
with Flamengo, he's so popular that his picture is even selling packets of drugs.

Liverpool fear Steven Gerrard may require an operation to solve his troublesome groin injury.
Gerrard will be absent for Liverpool again on Saturday as he struggles to recover from the problem
he suffered in England's World Cup qualifying defeat by Ukraine almost three weeks ago.
The 29-year-old has managed only 25 minutes of action since then — in last week's Champions
League loss to Lyon at Anfield, when he aggravated the injury and limped off.

United have once again been linked with January moves for Valencia's star men, David Villa and
David Silva. The future of both Spanish Internationals was the focus of much media attention over
the summer with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Liverpool keeping tabs on the situation to name but a
few.
Valencia managed to hold on to their prized assets in the summer but as their financial troubles
show no sign of letting up, it looks increasingly likely they will lose one if not both in the
winter.

There is no doubt that on his day Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the most talented footballers in
the world but often he is criticised for being lazy and unproductive so his transfer to Barcelona
was met with doubt by some Barcelona fans. However the Swedish striker has played well since his
move from Inter Milan and has been a stand out player in a Barcelona shirt this season.

famed trophy.

something to worry about?
