Nicklas Bendtner is showing some frightening form for his International side Denmark at present,
In a poor first half for the Dane's the game had a typical friendly feeling to the game, with both
sides not in top gear and happy just to keep ball at times. N.B didn't really get that much
involved in the first half and was having a quiet game, but was willing to come deep and link play
with the attacking midfielders of Denmark.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits that the lack of Champions League football at Anfield in
recent times have left an empty feeling within everyone at the club and has vowed to give his all
to bring those nights back to Merseyside.
Gerrard returned to the Reds starting line-up with a bang as his well-struck free-kick punished
Ryan Giggs' poor positioning in the Manchester United wall during the two rivals' 1-1 draw nine
days ago.
Look I know. I've put this off for far to long. Can you blame me? Who wants to relive last
Tuesday night? The time has come to put some thoughts to html (otherwise Tweed may murder me). So
join me after the break as we discuss what went right and what went wrong.
Pavel Pardo owned this game for the Fire.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has heaped praised on his team everyone from players to the
technical staff and has sent a message to the Blues' title rivals that last season's runners-up
have hit top gear.
The West Londoners were dominant in last weekend's 4-1 thrashing of Swansea City but a late
lapse in concentration during the midweek's Champions League clash at Valencia led to a
disappointing 1-1 draw.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that the UEFA Champions League far exceeds the global
reach of FIFA World Cup due to the overall higher level of quality within the squads of top
European clubs.
The Gunners, who are yet to hit top gear this season, are still clearly a better side than many
national teams that compete in the World Cup and based on that logic, Wenger insists that there are
no peers on the national team level for clubs like Champions League holders Barcelona.
Liverpool loan target Mario Gomez is keen on a move to England, and would relish the challenge of
testing himself in the Barclays Premier League reveals German website TZ.
The 26-year-old Bayern Munich striker is looking to engineer a move away from the Bundesliga when
the transfer window reopens in January, and according to the website that move could be to
Merseyside.
We don't claim to know a great deal about cars, but we've seen enough episodes of 'Top Gear'
between us to know that you're not supposed to do this to a Bentley.
What on earth could have inspired is this heinous act of vandalism by Manchester City's
Stefan Savic, people?
One more player leaves Liverpool while rumours swirl about potential replacements. Plus
Aquilani's agent doing what he does best, papers rehashing year old stories, and all the rest of
the week's fun as the rumour mills hit top gear again with the window heading to its close...
Sotirios Kyrgiakos
The big Greek defender left for Wolfsburg on a free transfer late on Monday, the player eager to
get more playing time than seemed likely at Liverpool and the club happy to get his wages off the
books.
Top Gear comes to Spurs Musings, and I don't just mean the team's performance North of the Border.
An Australian Arthur Daley, just what we need to go with our 'wheeler dealer' manager. Meanwhile
great news for the Meyer family: son Lachlan is now the All Australian under 17 Badminton Champion.
Greg is over the moon, but too modest to mention it himself.
The Gunners ended the season with relegation form – 2W,3L,6D – in the final eleven games of
the season. The fact that this form came straight after a horror fortnight that saw heartbreak in
all the Cup fixtures, including the Carling Cup final, means that even the most positive of Gooners
are finding it hard to sustain the faith.
Spurs come away with a deserved win over a less than impressive Liverpool.
For all the pre-match talk about the big occasion and Liverpool capping their resurgence by
cementing a European place, this one turned out to be as much about looking to next season as it
was about finishing off this one.
Nemanja Vidic has admitted that chasing glory on three fronts places a mental strain on
the players as well as the obvious physical aspects.
United are simply expected to win every match they play and, although this is typically the time
of the season when the Reds hit top gear, the pressure on the team to perform is obvious.
So it would appear that despite failing to hit top gear for the majority of the season,
Manchester United not only look to be in pole position in the Premier League, but they also have
another potential treble in their sights. Considering that back in February, all the talk was of
Arsenal and how they were in with a chance of securing an unprecedented quadruple, the mental
strength shown by United and their ability to simply go out onto the park week in, week out and
outshine their opponents has been incredible.
With four months still to go before we know who will be lifting the Premier League trophy, it seems
that few are betting against Manchester United winning the title back.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men are sitting pretty at the top of the table, level on points with neighbours
Manchester City, however, the Old Trafford club have two games in hand.
OK, I'm kidding, it's pretty far from a secret. In fact it's everywhere and I must be
the last person to find out. Ironically, I checked all the latest news just minutes before this one
broke and then went off the grid. I came back and all hell is breaking loose!
This is a story that will evolve as the day goes on so I'll continue to update this post as we
learn more, but at the moment it would appear the rumours that emerged before the weekend of a
statement of intent style bid being submitted for a big name, but unknown striker were absolutely
on the money.
I gotta admit I'm starting to shit myself a little bit here. I'm getting a tincey wincey bit
nervous.
Watching Manchester United grind out a goal-less draw with Spurs today had me thinking, it had me
thinking something bad. What I was thinking of was horrendous, more horrendous than the jumper my
Nan lovingly knitted me for Christmas.
IPSWICH, England Tamas Priskin fired Championship strugglers Ipswich to a deserved win over a
strong Arsenal side in Wednesday night's Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Portman Road. The
Tractors boys had been thrashed 7-0 at Chelsea in their FA Cup third-round tie on Saturday after
axing Roy Keane.

the Premier League title this season.
The 23-year-old Irish star is a fringe player at United but has had opportunities to play as
United have remained unbeaten so far in the Premier League.
This, coupled with defending champion Chelsea's slump in form, has seen Sir Alex Ferguson's side
take the advantage in the title race and sit two points clear and the Premier League betting
predictions suggest it's theirs for the taking.
In a week that has seen the Christian festival of Epiphany come and pass, the world was
reminded of the day that three very wise men from the East came and paid homage to an even more
special baby boy.
Theology aside, the similarities bestowing the football world to this most sacred of Christian
holidays can be drawn.
