Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson is aware that Tottenham Hotspur's terrific form
throughout the season indicates their prowess, particularly at White Hart Lane.
Following Monday night's goalless draw at Anfield, third-place Spurs return home and with
manager Harry Redknapp cleared of tax evasion charges, the North London outfit will be completely
focused on picking up all three points in Saturday's late kick-off.
There's no doubt that after his performance and goal against Aston Villa in his debut on Sunday
afternoon that Papiss Cisse is currently the Toast of the Toon. The new Newcastle hero thanks
fans after Sunday's win Newcastle have now won four of their last five league games, and the
only real let-down was that second half at Craven Cottage.
Alan Pardew acknowledges that Newcastle United's 5-2 defeat at the hands of Fulham has left him
frustrated but defended his players, insisting that they have a lot to be proud of for their
overall showing this season.
Clint Dempsey's famous hat-trick and two second-half penalties from Danny Murphy and Bobby
Zamora condemned the Magpies to an emphatic loss despite Danny Guthrie's stunning opening goal at
Craven Cottage.
Under-pressure Liverpool striker Andy Carroll admits that the return of skipper Steven Gerrard
has boosted his hopes of performing more consistently for the Reds.
Carroll, who was signed for over £35 million from Newcastle United last January, has scored
only four times in 25 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, leading to continuous criticism from
both within and outside the club.

good afternoon and welcome to our regular "match banter" feature. This time the Magpies will be
facing the transitional Queen's Park Rangers under new manager, Mark Hughes, he of the slightly
annoying mid-sentence sharp intakes of breath.
Several reports in the French media, including Lyon's "Le Progrès" this morning, have claimed that
Olympique Lyonnais and their left back, Aly Cissokho, have agreed a deal with Newcastle United, and
also that the player will be in Toon on Monday for a medical. There was nothing definitive on a
price, though OL are known [.

Selling the £35 million Liverpool striker back to the Toon for a knock-down price would not

Mirror: What are the odds this is Fergie and Rooney's last season at United? Derek
McGovern's Bets of the Day
Losing 3-0 at Newcastle was Manchester United's worst performance since last year and raised
three very serious questions. First, will Wayne Rooney still be at Old Trafford next season?
Excuse me while I cough up an organ, momentarily- I've just made the dreadful mistake of going

It's not been a good few days for Manchester United? Four days after slumping to a home defeat
against lowly old Blackburn, United found themselves on the end of a relative 3-0 tonking at the
Sports Direct North East Regional Distribution Centre which gave their title aspirations yet
another toe-punt in the undercarriage.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that Liverpool is not playing to Andy Carroll's
strengths.
The young hitman made a record £35 million move from the Magpies to Merseyside during last
season's winter transfer window, but has scored only four league goals since his big-money move to
Anfield.
Chelsea score a vital three points away to Newcastle in a match that was, well, fucking insane.
I mean, Salomon Kalou played clearly at the suggestion of Devin and even contrived to score the
pivotal second. Yes, it was that bizarre of a day.

There's not too many Newcastle fans who welcomed the introduction of Alan Pardew as manager,
after the very likable Chris Hughton had been surprisingly fired last December. A great shot
of Alan Pardew after the Stoke victory But when Alan Pardew is in the Toon these days, he is
greeted with smiles and handshakes, and the Newcastle fans are taking to him big time, because
of the way he [.

With Newcastle riding high in the Premier League, the cynic in me suggests that Mike Ashley may
have bided his time to announce that St James' Park is to be renamed with 'immediate effect' as an
exercise in PR damage limitation but there we go from henceforth, the Toon's ground will be
officially listed as the 'Sports Direct Arena'.
Relegation candidates, the toon flying high and another day in the life of an England manager Andre

Why I'm predicting a tough test for the Toon at Stoke
Playing Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium is like being body-searched at the toughest airport
security in the world. It is an experience that requires patience, perseverance and a great
deal of purpose. On Monday night Newcastle United must withstand such a comprehensive and
personal examination if Alan Pardew's men are to continue their fabulous unbeaten start to
their Premier League season.

Damien Comolli has personally led a convoy with two scouts to watch Fabricio Coloccini in action,
according to the Daily Mirror, with the Argentine high on Liverpool's transfer wish list for

Kenny Dalgilsh has already purchased Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique from Newcastle, and with
Enrique's connections to Coloccini, Dalglish and Comolli are both said to be hoping that a deal can
go through in the next transfer window.

A 120th-minute Gael Givet header saw Blackburn pip Newcastle at the death of the death to nab
themselves a spot in the Carling Cup's last eight at Ewood Park last night though, if it's any
consolation (it's not), the Toon did score the two best goals of the night in Danny Guthrie's low,
25-yard zinger (2:18 mark) and Yohan Cabaye's picture perfect free-kick (2:29).

Tiote and van der Vaart were convinced that, despite their differences, they could dance their
troubles away.League wins at St James Park are as rare for Spurs as days where Harry Redknapp
doesn't provide the press with a story-leading quote. If you remove the great Timothee Atouba's
fantastic winner from the 1-0 steal back in 2004, our away record against Toon would look fairly
terrible.
Why I'm predicting a Kevin Keegan-style high-scoring win for the Toon against
Tottenham
Just what is happening at St James' Park these days? Something's gone horribly wrong: Newcastle
United's defence has only conceded four goals in seven matches and is the meanest in the Premier
League.
Alan Pardew sent out an unchanged lineup against Wolves, and Demba Ba continued his impressive
scoring streak as NUFC moved up to third place in the Premier League (albeit temporarily), after
defeating Wolves.
Demba Ba was in the right place at the right time as he headed home a corner, and Jonas
Gutierrez slotted home a nice finish after dribbling past several Wolves defenders.
As the feel good factor continues around Tyneside, the question I keep asking myself is "Is this
too good to be true?" The Toon has had it's best start in years, the feel good factor is back, but
just how long can this Indian summer last? I wrote previously about the media's relationship with

Right, let's have some ratings for the Blackburn win! It was pretty much good stuff all round with

After reading what I classed as quite hostile comments from Oliver Holt regarding Stevie Taylor's

created by the Toon [.
