Yes, we've fallen for the cliché...

We like to avoid clichés. But sometimes stories become clichés because they work. This is one of those times.

We assembled a gift guide for every player and first-team coach on the Seattle Sounders (we even included guys who are still free agents).

Seattle Sounders resume play at CenturyLink Field with a 7:30 PM midweek match against Orlando City. This match starts just 20 minutes after the Seattle Mariners game against the Detroit Tigers so you should plan for difficult traffic and parking hassles.

Sounders center back cleared concussion protocol.

Brad Evans has cleared the concussion protocol and will be available for Wednesday's game against D.C. United, Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid told reporters on Tuesday.

Evans' availability was cast into doubt when he was struck in the side of the head by a close-range Kei Kamara shot during Saturday's game against the New England Revolution.

"Quick turnaround, but there is a break looming after that so give it all you got. I mean, we have to start digging ourselves out of this hole. [It] is starting to be a bit too deep for my liking, so we really have to start climbing the table again." -Stefan Frei

The Sounders extend their losing streak with another loss on the road, this time to New England Revolution.

Seven players have entered into loan deals that allow them to play for both the First Team and S2.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 have received further reinforcement via Standard USL Loan Agreements for seven First Team contracted players. Tony Alfaro, Oniel Fisher, Nouhou, Jordy Delem, Zach Mathers, Henry Wingo, and goalkeeper Tyler Miller join Brian Meredith and Seyi Adekoya who were entered into the same agreement before last week's match against Sacramento Republic.

These six were all signed to USL contracts in 2016.

One of the promises of Sounders 2 was bringing players into the first team. A few players have earned their way from USL to MLS. They've done so as draftees (Tony Alfaro), Homegrown Players (Aaron Kovar) and international discoveries (Oalex Anderson).

Two new trialists appear and Clint Dempsey talks about returning to competitive play.

Today was the last practice before the Sounders leave for Charleston, South Carolina and the Carolina Challenge Cup. There was a bit more intensity at this session, and I really think the returning young players helped, as well as knowing that this was some players' last chance to impress before getting on the plane.

The win feel great, all Sounders fans can agree on that, but how did they get there? How did this Dempsey-less lineup perform? Tony Alfaro again had to step in and did so ably, helping to earn the shutout. What score did the youngster earn this week?

Lets revel in the victory a little longer and rate the players.

With the holiday weekend and the short turnaround, there's not much time to rate the Sounders in their loss at New England. Though this form is belated, we invite you to go back in time a few days and tell us who deserves credit and who deserves blame.

Aaron Kovar played a full 90, Tony Alfaro was forced into duty, and Zach Scott once again filled in at centerback.

Tony Alfaro comes pretty close to a dream debut.

Tony Alfaro surely did not expect to get his professional debut the way he did on Saturday. In the 37th minute, Brad Evans was struck in the head by a close-range shot by Kai Kamara. Suddenly, Alfaro was warming up and just a few minutes later was in the game.
