S1-2A by fasthighlights
Sunderland has always been a tough side to crack and yesterday was no different on a horrible
pitch at the Stadium of Blight. The first half was marked by the usual spectacle of Arsenal bossing
the ball with little to show. Sunderland known for its strong defending did just that but their
counterattacking was laboured.
There appears to be a split amongst Gooners at the moment that an Olympic gymnast would be very
proud of.
So when I pose the question; is Tomas Rosicky worth a new contract at Arsenal? I expect many
differences of opinion.
In the past Tomas has frustrated me. Not because I think he is a bad player but because during his
time at the club he has spent at least 78% of it in the physio room.
There's a story about David Bentley.
I kid, I kid. I'm all out of Bentley stories. I could tell you my epic about Arturo Lupoli, his
secret agent dog and his layabout sidekick, but it's all a bit too similar to an episode of Scooby
Doo and I need to give it some work.
So, what's going on in the world of Arsenal?
When I woke up bleary-eyed and desperate of coffee this morning my first thought was "Why do I
wake up so early for the impending doom that is Arsenal?" I turned my TV on and was greeted by the
image of Arsene Wenger walking onto the pitch and a great view of the skyline above the Emirates
Stadium, leading me to think, "At least it looks beautiful out there.
Gunners, waiting for Götze? No longer, Thomas Eisfeld, 19 years old, who's supposed to be even
more Götze than Mario Götze and comes from the same club arrives at the Emirates for a princely
sum of £420,000. Which means dear Gunners, if you're waiting for the real thing, you're doing it
at your own hazard.
Bright Eis
Did anyone really expect Wenger to burn holes in Arsenal's chequebook this month? The general
climate in football hinted at no, the fact that Arsene is our boss said no, and the apparent need
for backup up front or at the back said – haha – no. No no no.
Arsenal's newest midfielder Thomas Eisfeld has made it known that he is proud to be chosen as a
Gunner, particularly as he aims to strike a partnership with Tomas Rosicky a man he grew up
watching at Borussia Dortmund.
The 19-year old Eisfeld arrived from Dortmund yesterday to complete his move to North London
ahead of the transfer deadline and after being unveiled, the youngster pledged to make both his
current and former club proud.

With 3 defeats in the last 4 games and an unconvincing win against Leeds in the last round of
the FA Cup, Arsenal fans were feeling far from optimistic ahead of this 4th round clash against
Aston Villa.
Rumour had it that the Gunners injury list was starting to ease, and so it
proved with Sagna, Henry and Arteta all named on the bench and also the young Frenchman Coquelin
was deputising at right back.

The tackle that started the comeback
The team needed a lift after results of recent weeks. A 1-0 win is great but coming back from 2
goals down to win it, is surely going to give the team the boost that we so desperately need. A
game of two halves is the old cliche but certainly applies in this scenario.

Today was a must win for Arsenal. Not just to reverse the perception of a club descending into a
familiar and vicious cycle of self inflicted wounds and low self esteem. But to resurrect the
career of a manager under fire.
A defeat would have tipped the scales between the two camps, the AKB and the ASG (Arsene Should
Go) resting at a precarious 50-50 irrevocably in favour of the latter.

Jack Wilshere was set for a return mid February setting the medical world abuzz with his
miraculous return. Then he suffered a stress fracture in the same ankle during training and now the
story is he's lost for the rest of the season or at least a good portion of it.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made it clear that he wants to follow up his impressive Premier
League debut against Manchester United by starting regularly for the Gunners.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was preferred to the likes of Andrei Arshavin and Yossi Benayoun as he was
surprisingly named a started for the visit of the defending champions.
Not the debut we hoped for
A 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester United with each side coming on top in one half is not the
worst of results. However, the manner in which we lost the game, left a bitter taste in the mouth.
After what happened in the reverse fixture early in August, many Arsenal fans (including me) wanted
to exact revenge but also conscious of the fact that we want to avoid another thrashing.
Arsenal vice-captain Thomas Vermaelen has returned to fitness in time for this evening's massive
home fixture against Manchester United while there were also another two surprises in the Gunners'
starting line-up against the reigning champions.
The 18-year old summer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain makes a memorable debut while Tomas
Rosicky also starts over Andrei Arshavin and Yossi Benayoun, who have previously been preferred to
him this season.
Morning all,
and let's start with some good news, for a change. Word is Thomas Vermaelen could be in line to
play against United later on. He trained with the first team yesterday and assuming all went well
it means he'll start the game at left back. It'll certainly add some solidity to a back four which
could really do with it at the moment, but we ought not to forget that our defensive issues aren't
simply the domain of that group of players.
Old head's experience to lead is crucial to the cause
The papers are going crazy with this fixture and all the focus is on Arsenal and how the mighty
have fallen. How this is no longer the plum tie of the Premier League season (somehow, I think the
numbers tells a different story), why there's no pizza or pastries being thrown at each other and
why there's no more fights between the two sets of players.
Morning all,
let's start with early team news ahead of Sunday's game against United and there's nothing good
regarding Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard will miss the game, Arsene says he has 'no chance' of playing
and the earliest we'll be seeing him is against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
Clearly that's a big blow.
Arsenal were dealt yet another blow in their bid for a top four finish as a dismal 3-2 defeat
away to Swansea City leaves Arsene Wenger's men with a lot of work ahead of them.
Goals from Scott Sinclair (penalty), Nathan Dyer, and Danny Graham ensured that the Swans
overcome impressive goals from Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott either side of the interval.
It was billed one the homecoming for Thierry Henry and in the end, the ending matched the
expectation at the start. A single goal separated Arsenal from Leeds United and advances us to the
next stage of the competition. A home tie against Aston Villa is the prize that we got and it was a
moment of history being reenacted that sent us through.

I haven't the slightest clue what happened this week. Somehow both Roy Hodgson and Arsene Wenger
simultaneously learned how to be awesome, and the internet figured out how to make them awesome
together. Plus Tomas Rosicky joined in on the fun, and Arsenal brought back the dynamic duo of
Emmanuel & Emmanuel as dancers.
Didier Drogba, Gary Cahill, Andrei Arshavin and Andy Johnson headline the list of Premier
League stars who are out of contract at the end of the season according to Goal.com, and could be
available on a free transfer this summer.
You could put together a pretty competitive side from this list.
Another one stopped
The final outcome was a result that we did not need and with Tottenham winning their latter game
at Carrow Road, it makes me very uncomfortable with the gap that is opening up slightly between us.
This was a chance to move ahead of Chelsea into 4th spot. It ended up being as frustrating a match
to watch.

That feeling of joy
Another 3 points in the bag that puts us level on points with Chelsea and just 2 points behind
Tottenham, until their match tonight at least. Not the most accomplished of performance you will
ever see from Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side but don't let anyone tell you that we didn't deserve to
get all 3 points from this game.
The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed rumours linking the Czech Republic midfielder Tomas
Rosicky with a move away from the Emirates. "Rosicky is at Arsenal and he remains at Arsenal," he
told the club's official website. The 31-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga
outfit Wolfsburg this summer and recent reports suggest [.

I see my place in the centre
Hello and I hope you're having a super Saturday. There's Arsenal today and there can't be
anything bad about that. Well, not if we win the game anyway. Today sees us visiting the DW Stadium
to face Wigan, a team mired in the relegation zone. After the sacking of Steve Bruce at Sunderland,
it would be fair to say that Roberto Martinez will be slightly worried about his position.
Morning all,
let's start with early team news ahead of tomorrow's trip to Wigan and nobody who played on
Tuesday is added to the sicklist, but Tomas Rosicky remains out with a thigh knack while Abou Diaby
will miss 10 days with 'a slight muscular problem'.
Obviously I don't think anybody is surprised by that but Diaby now seems to be caught in an
infinite loop of injury.
Premier League action later today as we take on Fulham at the Grove.
Regardless of who has been in charge over the last few years this has generally been a pretty
tight affair. Ok, there's been an away 3-0 and a home 4-0 in recent years but they've been tough to
break down and when we talk about goalkeepers having one of those game Schwarzer has done that more
than once against us.
Let's begin this morning with team news ahead of tonight's game against Borussia Dortmund.
Just to maintain the balance of the universe, Abou Diaby's return to the squad comes as Tomas
Rosicky drops out, having picked up a 'small thigh strain' in training. Diaby hasn't played yet
this season having undergone surgery on his ankle in the summer and I suspect he'll start from the
bench.
Arsenal will today face Borussia Dortmund knowing that after months on the sidelines, a welcome
element will be added to their midfield. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arsenal
manager revealed that Tomas Rosicky suffered an ...
Ahead of the game that could seal the Gunners' progression from the group stages, Arsène Wenger
offered very little bad news regarding the Arsenal squad for the Borussia Dortmund encounter on
Wednesday evening. While Tomas Rosicky will be disappointed to be unable to face his former side
with "a small thigh strain", Abou Diaby's recovery [.
