The Mystery of Milner

OK Football Finder 17 November @ 01:00 AM EST

Aston Villa 1 (Platt) Bradford City 0. Old Second Division. 1988. This was the first football match I ever watched and I instantly fell in love with Villa's goal scoring hero, a fish shaped man called David Platt. I later came to realise he wasn't that good but the point is that, at the time, I thought he was a footballing god.

Gunners in the driving seat

Premiership Talk Blog 12 November @ 09:00 AM EST

At the start of the season, Arsene Wenger's young Gunners were written off as title challengers by many analysts and TV pundits. Some even argued that the new Manchester City powerhouse would take over Arsenal at the top of the table.

It was an easy assumption to make as City made news every day during the transfer window.

Gunners put in purr-fect performance

Arsenal Insider 05 November @ 04:05 AM EST

by CARL ELDRIDGE Lots of purring in the papers this morning after the glorious Gunners hammered AZ Alkmaar 4-1 with some exquisite football to take us to the brink of the last 16 in the Champions League.

In the Sun this morning, Arsene Wenger says he has his best-ever strike force. He said: "We've never had as many options on the creative side.

AZ preview - Clichy blow, Diaby's work rate and more

Arseblog 04 November @ 03:32 AM EST

Right then, football tonight against Alkmaar and I really hope they're just plain old AZ tonight and not the typical Ronald Koeman AZzzzzzzzz.

Every time we play a Koeman side it's inevitably a truly dire spectacle. A tedious, coma inducing draw of some kind and I could really do without that tonight.

Call for Manuel…the others seem Fawlty, Basil

Arsenal Insider 30 October @ 03:22 AM EST

by CARL ELDRIDGE What is it with Arsenal and our keepers? If Arsene Wenger has one weakness (and he probably doesn't other than choice of shirt-tie combo) it must be choosing the incumbent for the No.1 slot. He was blessed to inherit David Seaman and even then he gave Alex Manninger a chance ahead of the pony-tailed one.

Time To Hammer The Nail Down

Arsenal View From a Gooner 25 October @ 03:39 AM EST

The formidable midfield duo

Upton Park is where our focus is today. Gianfranco Zola's West Ham faces exactly the same turmoil as Arsenal's previous opponent, AZ Alkmaar, financially stuttering that is.They have sold close to 10 players since last year just to offset some of the monetary difficulties but have kept virtually the core of the team in Robert Green, Matthew Upson, Scott Parker, David Noble and Carlton Cole.

It is not a proper Saturday without football – Rosicky + Ed

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. 24 October @ 12:30 PM EST

You just can't get that Saturday feeling without football can you? Well, I say without football but there is just no Arsenal today, it should be a crime against humanity if you ask me and when I come to power one day I will make sure that there is Arsenal 24/7, 12 months of the year. I might even make sure there is some Arsenal on that extra day in a leap year.

Thank God It’s Over

Now when will I get my chance Arsene?

Finally it's over. There will be no more interruption from my beloved Arsenal. Well, not at least until next season when the qualifying round for the European Championship begins anyway. I'm sure there will be more international games to come between now and next May but at least it would not be for a whole 12-14 days.
