Ricardo Clark certainly makes his goals count. Two of his three career international goals have
been game-winners, and both in dramatic fashion. In addition to last night's header in the seventh
minute of added time, Rico drove home the lone goal in the 1-0 against Trinidad & Tobago on Sept.

Ten years ago today on Oct. 7, 2001, the U.S. Men's National Team faced Jamaica on MatchDay 9 of
final round qualifying for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Having lost three straight matches, the USA's
place in Korea/Japan was by no means certain. In order to qualify that day and avoid a nail-biting

The Philadelphia Union announced on Monday that Trinidad & Tobago goalkeeper Thorne Holder has
been reacquired.
Holder was waived on July 26, presumably to free up an international spot on the Union roster.
With the summer transfer window now closed, and the sole Union signing being the American Freddy
Adu, Holder returns to the club to re-fill the vacant third goalkeeper role.
Well, I suppose if I'm going to do this again for 2011-12, I should probably post the summary stats
from lat year first, huh?

The big news from yesterday's announcement by the FIFA Ethics Committee was the life ban to FIFA
Executive Committee member Mohammed Bin Hammam, but there were other decisions that affected
officials in CONCACAF. CFU members Debbie Minguell and Jason Sylvester, both of Trinidad & Tobago,
were banned from participating in all soccer-related activities for one year.
Later today the 2014 World Cup qualifying cycle will start with the preliminary round tie between
Montserrat and Belize. St Lucia and Aruba were supposed to get things started a couple of weeks
ago, but those matches were pushed back for who knows what reason. Montserrat-Belize could be
postponed at the last minute, and there have been rumblings from Belize about a standoff between
the national government and the federation that would produce just that, but Montserrat's team is
in Trinidad & Tobago and they expect the match to go ahead today.

You could be forgiven for thinking there is only one English-born player currently turning out for
Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS.
Given that the player in question is David Beckham, arguably the most famous footballer of his
generation, you can understand why.
But there is another, and it charts another remarkable chapter in the football career of Chris
Birchall.
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala (March 29, 2011) – The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team opened its
CONCACAF U-20 Championship campaign with a 4-0 win against Suriname at Estadio Nacional Mateo
Flores in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Four different U.S. players scored, with Conor Doyle leading
the offense with a goal and two assists, Kelyn Rowe netted a goal and an assist and Bobby Wood and
Joe Gyau each added a goal.
Trinidad & Tobago books a place in the final eight with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Guatemala
in the very difficult Group C. Combined with a scoreless draw against Jamaica on Tuesday, T & T has
four points from two games. Jamaica has one point from one game and Guatemala has zero.
The CONCACAF U-17 Championship hosts need a win or a draw against Guatemala on Saturday to
secure advancement into the quarterfinals.

On Wednesday we posted an update that linked to a Twitter message from former Trinidad & Tobago
goalkeeper Shaka Hilsop that said Thorne Holder had signed with the Union. Big Apple Soccer.com
posted a story saying that Holder's former college, Aldelphi University, had announced the signing
with a quote from coach Carlo Acquista congratulating Holder.
There is no announcement yet from the Union, but a report on Twitter from Shaka Hislop says that
Trinidad & Tobago goalkeeper Thorne Holder has signed with the Union.
Reports from Trinidad confirmed that Holder was on trial with the Union in January. The former
U-20 national team goalkeeper played high school soccer at Queen's Royal College in Trinidad &
Tobago before going to University of Maryland and Adelphi University.
D.C. United have announced that they have acquired forward Charlie Davies. The Black-and-Red
have signed the striker to a loan deal from French side FC Sochaux for the 2011 season. The club
used its position in the MLS allocation ranking to acquire the forward.
"We are really pleased to have concluded a deal that will bring Charlie to United," D.
I had known about the pay dispute between members of Trinidad & Tobago's 2006 World Cup squad and
the T&T Football Association, but I was unaware of the ongoing disputes between the FA and national
team players and staff. And when there's a dispute with the T&T FA, it's really a dispute with one
man, who happens to wear many hats in his country and beyond.
Last year i kept a running track of who was reported as being in camp and their contract status (to
the best of our knowledge). This seemed to be well received, so I'm going to do it again this year.
Later this week I'll try to break down the current roster under the new roster rules, but for now
I'm just going to sort into general categories.
Monday's Daily, and Trinidad & Tobago are looking for a high profile coaching hire, then we move to
a discussion of the MLS teams that have yet to take advantage of the soccer-specific construction
era. By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Jan 31, 2011) US Soccer Players -- As the Gold Cup
approaches, at least one team in the region is thinking about 2014.
The 2010-11 Pro League in Trinidad & Tobago concluded this weekend, and the new champions have
broken the San Juan Jabloteh-Joe Public monopoly of the previous four seasons. Defence Force won
the championship with 41 points from 19 matches (Tobago United withdrew from the competition
halfway through), their 21st league title but the first in over ten seasons.
FC Tampa Bay announced today the hiring of former Tampa Bay Rowdies player Ricky Hill. The
English native who began his playing career at 17 with Luton Town FC in 1976 spent the bulk of his

Rowdies in the American Soccer League.
