The new season is fast approaching like the distant glint of sunlight between clouds on a windy
day. It did kind of start already at TNS on 9th July, a start so early for me as to be uncanny,
like the sun rising at midnight. So early it's difficult to decide if it was an appendix to last
season or a prologue to 2009-10.

The record books of the

Rhyl FC after their season of domineering the nation's state of play
ended in ecstasy by attaining the championship.
Never before has such a feast of goalscoring riches, superior points mark and comfortable haul of
victories been witnessed in the division as Rhyl FC won the title for only their second occasion in
their history with an everlasting 3-1 success over former champions

- Reigning champions Llanelli lead the goalscoring charts having netted a total of 43 after only
13 matches. That is an incredible 3.31 per game and twelve more than nearest rivals, Rhyl and TNS,
and are en route to reach the 100-milestone that they narrowly failed to achieve during the
2007/2008 season.

As the Welsh Premier League season began for 2008-09 at the weekend, defending champions Llanelli
started off the campaign by beating Bangor City 2-0. The fixture was a repeat of last season's
Welsh Cup final where Bangor City defeated their rivals but a repeat of the scoreline was not
achieved. First-half goals from Lee Phillips and Craig Williams saw champions Llanelli win their
match at the Citizens.
