And I'm not just talking about spending some hard-earned cash to go and cheer on The Three Lions.
Shola's talking about actually playing in the World Cup 2010. I know, I know, this is a kid who
could barely get in the Newcastle first eleven until this season and has repeatedly underacheived
year on year.

With the World Cup in sight, most of this weekend's attention will be towards the remaining
qualifiers, but there are a few high-profile friendlies on tap today that might be just as
exciting.
England-Brazil is one of those matches, as the Three Lions will took to topple Brazil for the
first time since 1990, a stretch of seven games that includes a 2-1 loss in the quarterfinals
of the 2002 World Cup.

Alex Brosque's return to form this season has been a delight to watch, but this sudden move up the
ranks comes as a surprise nonetheless. The timing is unfortunate, since Brosque was surprisingly

1966 was a great year, or so I'm told by those of an age able to remember it.
It has been a long time since England lifted the highest honour in International football, too
long in fact, and many have been brave enough to predict South Africa will be the location for the
Three Lions to finally end the years of hurt for the England faithful.

Either it's a harbinger for the misery to come or the prologue to one of the greatest sports upsets
ever, but England will arrive in South Africa next summer brandishing new lows in their quality
of goalkeeping. Never before have the
Three Lions been represented at the
World Cup by a keeper who has just finished the season with a side that got relegated.

The Daily Star claims that Rafael Benitez is set to offer Emile Heskey a return to Liverpool in the
January transfer window, providing the England striker with a World Cup lifeline in the
process.
Heskey has admitted that he will consider leaving Aston Villa if he continues to warm the bench,
worried that his lack of first-team football at club level will affect his chances of leading the
line for the Three Lions in South Africa.

The World Cup is just around the corner and the players whose national teams

The curtain comes down on England's World Cup qualification campaign and, no matter the result
on Wednesday 14th November against Belarus; Fabio Capello will be looking ahead to the World Cup
with confidence. The road to South Africa has been uncannily smooth for a side that couldn't make
it to the Euro 2008 starting line; with spread punters who got with Don Fabio's side generally
happier than those who didn't.
