Guardian: Which former player would you bring back to your club?
Paul Scholes and Thierry Henry have returned to former clubs, but which old stalwarts would you
like to make a comeback? After the comebacks of Thierry Henry and Paul Scholes, we asked Premier
League fans who they would like to see return.
Barcelona have confirmed that former Arsenal winger Alexander Hleb will spend yet another season
away from the Catalan club as he is being loaned out to German outfit VfL Wolfsburg.
Belarus international Hleb rose to prominence during an impressive three-year spell during which
he made 129 appearances and netted on 10 occasions in all competitions.
While Spurs have been linked once again with Scott Parker, much has been made this morning of
the fact that his former West Ham team mate Thomas Hitzlsperger is training at the Lodge with
Tottenham at present.
While some areas of the press have been quick to highlight this, it does seem most likely that
the free agent is being allowed to train with us for the player's convenience and while the hint of
a possible move is there, it seems unlikely.
The Jammy Hammer known as der hammer Don't ever think that footballers have it all easy. When
Thomas Hitzlsperger was caught travelling at over 100mph in a 70mph zone in Suffolk, he must had
many sleepless nights. Hitzlsperger was allowed to leave by West Ham at the end of last season you
see, and therefore [.
This is the second in InTheStands' Transfermation series exploring the potential
summer ahead for all Premiership clubs involved....this addition: Aston Villa
Where they stand:
Well, well, well, if I was an Aston Villa fan I would be sceptical – looking down the barrel
at another mid-table finish.
While Jeremy is our resident NUFC supporter, he is out of pocket this week so I'm going to take
over with my thoughts on the transfer of Demba Ba from WHU to St. James' Park. Taken as a move by
itself, there is little to do other than like it a lot. NUFC is desperate for strikers and Ba was
very effective over the second half of last season at Upton Park.
There is still much football to be played this "week" as Liverpool travel to Fulham later today,
and the big Spurs/ManCity clash on Tuesday. But the barn door (and time and tide) wait for no
fantasy manager. Here's the state of my team after the weekend's action: A few enablers in
Heitinga, Zenden, and even Hitzlsperger allow for some big spending up top with Odemwingie and van
Persie.
A long tradition in the English top flight means nothing these days, as it looks like time has
run out for the Upton Park faithful. As they arrived at Green Street today, they knew they had
three winnable games remaining, and a chance to save themselves after a very disappointing season.
Now after failing to beat Blackburn, the new management are heading for the Championship.
In my infinite capacity to mess with a good thing, and in clear violation of the fantasy rules,
I've made the following trades today: Howard to Carson. I don't trust any of the cheaper keepers,
but West Brom is coming off a six-match unbeaten streak. They are on the road against a Sunderland
team in dire form and may see this match as their last chance for points for a while with Chelsea
and @
The international break has thrown me for a bit of a loop, especially on the heels of the FA Cup
break we just had. So I'm having a tough time getting back into the swing of of EPL things. But we
have to start somewhere, right? And what better place than with the team I assembled on the barn
door last weekend (two weeks ago!
A bit of what's going on in Butt's Brain today: Is this the future of the England National team?

My, how West Ham could have done with a few more of those this season.

West Ham struck while the Iron was cold.
Opening the scoring a debutant German of old.
A trademark thurderbolt reministant of his villa days.
Fans in the stand celebrate, Avram Grant remains unphased.
Maybe West Ham should stick with cup ties instead of playing league games, because at least in
the cup they win some times!
Tonight the Hammers set-up an FA Cup quarter-final tie away to Stoke after thrashing Burnley 5-1
victory at Upton Park. Sidelined by a thigh problem since his arrival at West Ham last summer,
German midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger marked his long-awaited debut with the opening goal after 23
minutes with a typically spectacular left-footed strike.
German International Thomas Hitzlsperger has given West Ham the lead in their
FA Cup tie with Burnley at Upton Park with a screamer and on his debut no less.
