Hang on a minute....
Occasionally here at EFW HQ I get to wind my neck in for ten minutes and let someone who knows what
they're talking about take to the stage. Stepping up to the mic today is Spanish football guru Sid
Lowe, who - in between penning articles for the Guardian, Four Four Two, World Soccer Magazine and
talking down the phone on the Football Weekly Podcast - was good enough to give us some of his
time.
Like so many of you out there I've long since lost all respect for Real Madrid and how they
conduct their affairs. The malaise born out of the ‘presidential' system seems to me to tarnish
the clubs image rather than enhance it and the side effect that it channels through the media is,
frankly, an embarrassment.
At just 32, former Danish international Thomas Gravesen has called time on his career. The
combative central midfielder started his career with hometown club Vejle Boldklub (VB). He was soon
on the move and played for Hamburg, Everton and Real Madrid. He didn't last long at
Madrid, as his combative style spilled over into training sessions [.

So, the transfer deadline (August 31) has passed and the football market is now closed. Closed? Not
quite. Indeed, while transfers from one club to another will have to wait until January to resume,
teams may still sign players as free agents (and that until March 31, 2009). So, inspired from this

Thomas Gravesen has today left Scottish champions Celtic after a two year spell at the club. The
Danish midfielder had fallen out of favour with Hoops boss Gordan Strachan and in turn struggled
for a place in the first team.
The former Real Madrid midfielder spent much of last season on loan with Everton, the club he made
over 150 appearances for.
There are not many season openers that are more difficult than Everton away. Last season
Goodison Park was something of a fortress for Everton last season and few teams went there and were
given an easy game. David Moyes has brought Everton a long way during his reign and the fans really
understand that they are being given good football despite restricted finance.
This rumour has been swirling for a while, but with David Moyes looking to strengthen his very
shallow midfield options, he'll have to get cracking soon. Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard could be
making his way up to Merseyside, with the Moyesiah sniffing around the high-octane midfielder.

The first time I heard Luke Rodgers was moving to New York Red Bulls was when it fell through.
He was turned down for a visa due to an affray charge. The dream seemed all but over for the
diminutive striker. This however was not my first memory of Birmingham born Rodgers.
Ex Liverpool defender Avi Cohen, the first ever Israeli footballer to play in England's top
division, has died after sustaining injuries in a motor cycle accident. The death of Cohen, 54, was
announced by his son Tamir, who plays for Bolton Wanderers in the Premiership. Cohen made 24
appearances for Liverpool between 1979 and 1981.
Thomas Gravesen iki yaz önce Galatasaray'ın gündemi epeyce meşgul etmişti.
Maniche, Zokora, Gravesen derken İnamoto gelmişti. Danimarkalı da Celtic'in yolunu
tutmuştu. Ancak başarısız oldu, tutunamadı. Şimdi 'free' transfer
olarak listeye konmuş. Tekniği zayıf ancak fiziğiyle sahada yer alan eski tip
ön liberolardan.
No, not this year. Not yet. In a couple years time though Villa, Pompey, City or Spurs fans will
rejoice as they look forward to a couple of matches against Sparta Prague, before being outclassed
by some Spaniards and crashing out in the group stages. Still, it will be a better crusade than
that experienced by Everton in 2005.
