Division II women’s men’s polls

The Metropolitan State College women's soccer team remains at No. 4 in Division II this week. Fort Lewis, which tied Regis 2-2 and beat CSU-Pueblo 3-1 to slip to third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings, dropped one spot in the national poll to 13th. Mines, which finished in second place in the RMAC's regular season, was at No.

Buffs face Texas in Big 12 tourney

The University of Colorado soccer team will be the No. 3 seed in the Big 12 soccer tournament, which starts at 1 p.m. (Mountain time) Wednesday against sixth-seeded Texas at the Blossom Soccer Complex in San Antonio.

The Metropolitan State College women's soccer team (11-1) remained sixth in the nation after posting a pair of 5-0 victories during the weekend, on Friday against Adams State and Sunday against Nebraska-Kearney. Fort Lewis also had two games with the same score on Friday and Sunday: The Skyhawks (11-1-1) started the weekend with a 2-0 victory over CSU-Pueblo and followed it up two days later with a 2-nil victory over New Mexico Highlands.

In what's becoming a tradition around here, The Tuesday List examines the latest NSCAA polls. No Colorado teams were in the women's or men's Division I poll, although New Mexico (the big rival of the University of Denver's men's team) did receive some votes. Oklahoma State, which lost to Colorado this year, is 26th in the women's poll.

Casey named player of the week

Colorado Rapids forward Conor Casey was voted Major League Soccer's player of the week for week 21 of the 2009 season.

Casey scored three first-half goals on Saturday in the Rapids' 4-0 victory against Chivas USA. It was Casey's second hat trick of the season, and this marks the third time this season Casey has received the MLS weekly honor.

The Dallas Burn’s 1996 draft

As the Colorado Rapids prepare to face FC Dallas in a Major League Soccer fixture for the second time in less than three weeks, The Tuesday List looks at the Dallas Burn's draft class of 1996.

With the Chicago Fire heading to Commerce City for Saturday's big Fourth of July match, The Tuesday List does a little comparison between the Fire's and Rapids' results this season.

The Colorado Rapids have been shut out two times this season:
1) Houston 1, Rapids 0, April 19 at Houston
2) Seattle 3, Rapids 0, June 28 at Seattle

The Chicago Fire, the Rapids' opponent on Saturday, also has been shut out twice:
1) Dallas 3, Chicago 0, May 31
2) Houston 1, Chicago 0, June 5

The Rapids have allowed more than two goals only once so far in 2009:

Cougars, Force goal-scoring leaders

Colorado Rapids striker Conor Casey is leading Major League Soccer's race for the Golden Boot, but Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman is making a run at the league's Golden Ankle award.

He is tied for the league lead with five yellow cards in 11 matches.
