The Don was in KC for last night's playoff match and used his now-traditional pressbox scrum to
testify to all that is good and holy about the rebirth of the Kansas City franchise. This is
good...I like that it's not me for once.
As much as I love what's going on in the PNW and with apologies to my brothers and sisters in PDX
who made one hell of a MLS debut this spring, Sporting Kansas City is the story of the year.
Hey y'all. Did you miss me? No? Figured as much. I was in rock mode for a few days doing the ATP
thing so I wasn't really in the blogging state of mind.
I did see a few games this weekend though but unfortunately the Vancouver - Portland game was not
one of them. And because I missed the game I missed The Don's halftime remarks about scheduling,
downtown stadiums, MLS Cup locations and all that other commissionery stuff he likes to talk about.
Try to make it through the entire four minutes of The Don's speech yesterday without getting
hypnotized by the crazy eyes on the mascot in the background. Impossible. And what is that thing? A
badger? A skunk? And what does it have to do with being hard-working, American and all those other
Crew-like things?
Only about 4 hours sleep last night and now I have to make my escape from Philadelphia but I
thought I'd throw this out there since the new TV deal remains a hot topic. See you in NY.
About halfway through this clip The Don talks social media and gives a pretty balanced and honest
statement on the wonder and danger of Twitter. You should watch it. Or not. Really it's up to you.
Any betting men out there willing to put money down on Philly to host the next All Star game? I
have no inside info on this but I'd favor them over other candidates like K.C. --which hosts the
MLB All Star game in 2012-- and Houston, who have to be a favorite for MLS Cup 2012 with a
gleaming, new AEG-backed stadium in a warm-weather market on the way.
It's no Cribs but it has a couple of mellow dogs, tall-assed tomatoes and coffee talk with the
D.O.N. Montclair represent!
You know you are a baller if you give interviews on a golf course and you are not a player in the
PGA. Check out The Don getting all Big Willy and talking expansion, the D.C. stadium saga and
various other messageboardy topics in between working on his short game. Play on boss.
